  1. I bet it's a wonderful amp and sure it sounds much better than class D stuff. Shame nobody wants to carry around more than 3-4kg nowadays
  2. I have the VBA400 and the Trace VA350. Also owned an SVT2... I think I know what you're talking about
  3. Never tried an Aguilar product but I bet it's nice. But I fear I'm a bit too far from Bassgear
  4. I think it's all due to the UL, it's a very nice sounding cab (owned one).
  5. I wouldn't get the MB500 as I'd fear to find it just like the 200: scooped on the mids, the eq. doesn't affect the final sound enough, felt cheap like a chinese toy. But was extremely light and compact, yes.
  6. Wow, didn't know that the Harley Benton was a Promethean clone... at that price I guess it's worth the risk!
  7. Well... in case things get loud I have a Trace VA350 (all tube) and a sealed 1x15". The head is around 30kg and the cab maybe 19? But too bulky to keep it close to my pc (in case I want to record something). This is the reason for the 1x10" choice
  8. I don't see the weight in the specs sheet... strange. I must admit I'm a bit worried after buying the Little Giant... you know the story!
  9. Do they feel "cheap" like the MB200? The price is very good, I'm tempted (even if they're not smallest). The 500 should be a different preamp, though.
  10. I've found a few used F1s (smaller and a bit lighter) but I'd prefer to get something different this time. The Ashdown doesn't look too small but I'd certainly like the fact the eq. is so flexible. Deciding which frequency boost/cut is very good! I remember the MB200 being very close to a chinese toy... felt cheap. I'd like to get something that feels decent when you touch it or turn a knob Oh, I could add the Ampeg PF350 to the lot but... don't know what to expect. The good thing is that I could try one in a store (160km back and forth)
  11. I owned several Markbass... the older (heavier) models and a LittleMark II. Well made and sound good but they're not smallest and lightest if compared to (for example) GK. I'm sure "traditional" amps sound "better" but it doesn't make sense to buy a 10kg amp for me, at the moment. Otherwise I think I'd buy a Trace
  12. Hello! I'm in the market for a small amp head. Owned a few of class D and A/B, then fell in love with tubes... I guess you all know these stories I still own the tube amps but I'd like to build a mini-rig I could use everywhere. Not much volume needed but I certainly want quality. I think I'd put together a small and light 1x10" cab but still, the choice for a small head is pretty hard in these days: Ashdown Mibass (I guess I'd be fine with the 200) EBS Reidmar Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0 Aguilar TH350 (should be already available?) I think I don't need 500w, it would be mainly used for low, mid volume practice and since I already have a 15" cab and big amps I guess I should go for the smallest and lightest combination possible. I owned an MB200 and wasn't happy with the sound and the build quality wasn't wonderful IMHO. I'll probably search in the used market but as you can see the Reidmar and the TH should be bought new. I also considered the PJB combos but the small head can always be combined with a bigger cab in case I need to, while the combo is probably easier to carry but less versatile. What do you think of the tone and the overall quality of these amps? The main trouble is that I can't try before I buy, no shop has them available... only Markbass 'round here.
  13. I also included shipping (and I'm not in UK)
  14. Oh, so they're completely different from the ones used into the Henry 8x8"? Strange, I thought they were the same (with different impedance). Forgot what I wrote, then!
  15. The SWR woofers should be Celestions (out of production) so I fear you could not get them
  16. Yes, sorry! I can give you the specs, more or less - in case you want to build one yourself. If I remember correctly it was 50l but can't remember the tuning frequency of the reflex (on the back of the cab). The woofers were two Fane 225w. The cab wasn't bad at all for its dimensions but I think a decent 2x10" sounds better (being bigger).
  17. Hankstone: I guess you don't know how to read the small numbers on the topic... it's 1 year old and at that time it was a pretty good price. In fact I sold it but forgot to delete the ad!
  18. Trace stuff is always top notch. Any idea of the weight?
  19. Nice... too bad I can't test one locally. The Mibass looks promising too but finding a store that has both is impossible...
  20. NJE - keeping the volume knobs at the same level doesn't make the amps work at the same level. Some heads have most of the volume in the first half of the knob rotation while others are more "progressive". Did you compare it with a LM2 (500w)?
  21. Anybody compared the Reidmar with another mini-head and can comment about the price and the power? For example: is it more powerful than a LM250? Is it made "better" than the other chinese amps (MB200, Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0, Mibass 220 etc.)?
  22. Interesting topic... I'd like to know if anybody (during a head-to-head between the Reidmar and the HD350) noticed a different "flavor" of the low frequencies. When I compared an old Markbass with one of the actual ones with the A/B class power stage I noticed that the lows were very different. The new model sounded "hollow"... not at 100hz but under that frequency. Did you experience the same with the Reidmar? I guess you did if you paid enough attention, I think the difference is caused by the old school transformers used in the heavy amps. They still sound better than class D and A/B as far as I know... I'd love to go back to light amps but I hate that "flavor" on the lows.
  23. Sold locally
