  1. One day, many decades ago, in maybe 1980, I was walking down the street wearing a grey trilby. A man stopped me and said 'Why did you buy a hat like that when instead you could have spent your money on drugs?'
  2. Never have and not expecting to do so very soon.
  3. Most people don't even know it's a bass guitar. Anything with strings my father called a banjo and anything you blew into he called a trumpet.
  4. Surely the question ought to be: 'Am I good enough to play a cheap piece of sh!t and still sound great?'
  5. Scale length = 2 times the distance from fingerboard side of nut (or centre of zero fret) to centre of twelfth fret. Distance of bridge saddles from nut (or zero fret) will vary slightly from scale length (as given above) due to differential of intonation on each string.
  6. Whatever small difference one might possibly detect, it would be unnoticeable in a band situation.
  7. As well as their own material, Lake Street Dive are very good at other people's songs.
  8. Bridget Kearney also played with Joy KIlls Sorrow:
  9. The only time I have needed to 're-nut' is when I tuned a bass BEAD with a 125 B string.
  10. Fender Precision, LaBella 760FL strings, foam. NS WAV4 EUB, can't remember what strings. Both straight DI. One overdub on Lakland Skyline Decade, GHS Precision Flats, no foam, also DI'ed
  11. Wouldn't 'My Love' be Denny Laine on bass and McCartney on piano? As for out of tune, I'll have to listen to it. EDIT: The studio version does sound dodgy.
  12. John Lennon, another very effective rhythm player. Also Nile Rogers
