I've been using the player elites on my warwick thumb & i think they sound very good but they dont last very long, they do feel as though they have less tension than stainless, soundwise they sound thicker & slightly less bright but still bright enough to acheive a cool slap sound.
I use the stainless ones 45-105 which i find have a bit more tension than the same gauge in nickel. Thinking about maybe try nickels 50-110 or something like that, i'm a heavy handed guy and like my tension high, with the help of a higher action of course. The stadium in terms of life are great. have them for about 3 or 4 months, about 10h playing a week and gigs every weekend, but again i don't like the sound of brand new steels, u reckon the nickels won't last that long??
2. I currently have a set of Elites Stadium medium 45-105. I quite like them, but I think I'm more of a nickel guy. Are the Player series as good as the Stadium? Another dummy question, do nickel strings have less tension than stainless steel or they just feel more loose for any other reason? (at least to me) Perhaps going for a heavier gauge will solve the problem?

mim jazz

mines a MZ7 + 6 digits and it was bought from a reputable dealer so i would say it's normal, why would anybody bother faking a mim anyway? lol
4.
Hi, Ok, ive decided that im going to put this bad boy back up for sale, and this time, it's staying up til i sell it. Really GASSING for a new Jazz bass (in white or sunburst) so this needs to go. Looking for £450 plus postage (will be roughly £15 by courier) will also accept trades It plays absolutely lovely and i havent seen many of these (in fact none) of these around. Ive had it since new and it has been really well looked after. Spec: Olympic white CIJ precision Bass Baddass II bridge 62 RI vintage PUPs Custom 'F' Neck plate Strung with D'adrrio flatwound (Chromes) Case not included but i will chuck in either a Deluxe Ritter Gig bag or a deluxe fender one.
would you be interested in a MIM Jazz with Gotoh bridge? It's red though
5.
By definition 'active' (whether pups or pre) means that a battery (batteries) is required; if a bass has a battery in it then it is active, conversely no battery at all and it is passive... UNLESS the bass is powered by an external power supply via a TRS lead or sometimes XLR style leads. You can get pups that are active but can utilise passive pre amps and/or you can get passive pups that require or can work with active preamps and obviously pups and pres that are active and both require juice. Confused? If not I haven't tried hard enough!
I got it now, cheers!! ...is there a difference in sound or is it one better than the other? I mean for the most common combinations: active pu w/ passive pre VS passive pu w/ active pre? or is just different means to an end?
6. Sorry if this sounds basic and obvious but I have a bit of a silly question  If a bass has passive pickups and active tone control, say a Spector Legend for example, is it considered an active or passive bass? And does it requires a battery too?
7.
Not good about the Behringer combo. Were the guitarists allowed to use their own amps or did they have to use the water rats backline? What time were you on and were there many people there?
My guitarist played through their line 6 combo too...and he's used to play with his loud as f*ck Mesa half stack, sound wasn't too bad to be honest. Behringer is just a signal really and it goes straight into the DI box , can't even hear it lol you'll have to rely on the PA and trust the sound man skills, which was OK after all. Don't know how many people were there, but not many, we were on at 8pm and the band who was supposed to play after us never turned up!! Also, it was a VERY mixed bill, from hard rock to reggae and indie, etc...not great. I would say avoid play on Sundays, and early, unless you can pull 100 people every time you play:)
8. Played there last night. Nasty Behringer combo (apparently they didn't let us take our own backline?!?!) ...however, the sound guy knows his sh*t and even though it wasn't the best sound in the world, the stage sound was pretty good and according to the audience, the front sound was brutal! Oh, didn't pay to play or anything like that, didn't make much money either but we're from london, so no expenses, but had the same 'how many bands are playing tonight after all?' experience too. must say, the sound is pretty decent, at least for us was.
9.
What if I offered you my bb614 for a knock down price? :brow:
colour and price?
10. I see the BB614 have lots of points! lol ...unfortunately I'm not a big fan of active basses, hence the BB414 as my 1st choice. How about the other options?
11. Ok, here's a few basses I've got on my GAS list. All affordable, but can only buy one So, I'm looking for tons of low end bassiness (there's a new expression for ya ) A good hard rock/metal machine Here's the list: Yamaha BB414 Epiphone Thunderbird (by the way does the Gothic, having a mohogany body, sounds different from the std?) Spector Legend (2nd hand...I'll buy the other two 2nd hand as well if i find a good deal) There's more...as you can imagine , but for now, I have these three in mind. Haven't tried any of them yet, must say, just looking for opinions at this stage Cheers
12. Hey I've found a Boss MT-2 Metal Zone in my moms house from my old guitar days, first thought - sell it! but now I'm wondering...would it work well with bass? or will it cut the bass freq? Anyone use it? I haven't tried on my rig yet as it's in the studio, just looking for any users who can recommend any settings to try, etc... cheers!
13. Cheers for the input guys. I'll take my head and use it wisely after all is always better to have 'my' sound.
14.
It's a 450 watt cab by all accounts... Should be OK provided you don't overdo it on your master volume.
Yeah...I know, I just don't feel very confortable when I know I'm restricted in terms of volume. My head will be pumping 700w @ 4ohms onto the cab...I think I'll take it with me anyway and give it a try. Not sure about PA support but it's a small venue so might just use backline, don't know yet.
15. I have a gig coming up and the house bass cab is a mesa boogie 1516. I won't be taking my 810 as it's overkill for the venue. I don't know if my GK 1001RB is a bit too much for the cab really. The house head is a trace of some kind, don't know the model...I just don't wanna blow the house cab. Any thoughts?
16. fitted a gotoh bridge 201 on my MIM jazz last week...more sustain and more stable good price too, comparing to BAII
17. Ask you dad to teach you how to spell just jokin...don't know man, but good luck, you're young so you'll get there eventually
18. ...how much is a Fender MIM Jazz std circa 2007/08 (not sure) worth in the second hand market?
19.
A modern alternative would be a 3015LF bottom cab to provide the low end, crossed over to a vertical 3x10 cab loaded with guitar tens at 200-300 Hz to give the high end of the original.
...and now in English?
20. juat ordered one of these hope it works
