1. Need to send my GK1001RB head which is in a Gator 3U rack, for repair. Any sugestions on courier? Preferably insured at £500 minimum.
2. Is this any good? Anyone use it? http://www.thomann.de/gb/the_tbone_tws16pt863mhz.htm Can't find reviews
3.
Could be a dry joint. If you have any warranty left on it then get it back to the dealer - if it's a dry joint then it's always been there and will be covered under warranty. If it's out of warranty then either you (or someone else) has the lovely task of tracking it down and resoldering the offending joint.
I have to check the date in the receipt and see if it's still under warranty. If not, and in the case of being just a dry joint, how much am I looking at in terms of paying someone to do it?? I'm a terrible DIY guy also, any other possible diagnosis other than a dry joint?
4. My 1001RB has about 1 year old, never gave me problems. Now it's making quite loud crackling noises, something like this: http://simscience.org/crackling/Sounds/magnet.wav A guy from the studio where I rehearse who repairs amps said it's not coming from the speaker and sounds like a dry socket!?!? Any ideas??
5.
Let's not forget about ebony fretboards here.
Like this one? http://1.2.3.13/bmi/www.horse-moments.de/ST/02.jpg BADASS!!
6. I say £800 to play it safe, i'm hoping to get one in the £700 region - with rosewood
7.
I know someone looking to buy a bass off me (PRS) who wanted to trade a USA Ray in black (will need to check on fingerboard), if the price is right would it be any good for you? If you are serious about getting a Ray then this is a genuine offer but I'd need to be sure for all of us as I don't want to be left with a Ray that I'll not want! To answer your original question though, I'd stick out to get the genuine article because chances are you'll always be thinking "What if!".
cheers mate. don't have the money quite yet but thanks anyway yeah, as I said, i'm more inclined to buy a second hand EBMM Stingray, the price difference for a new is quite a lot, but again, I would get to choose exactly what I want, i'm confused now ...i reckon it's better if i save around £800 and then just start the hunt for a used one with the specs I want. will be a difficult task though
8. Played a SBMM Ray34 this week and fell in love...to my ears and fingers is a MM Stingray. Not going through this now, there are loads of threads on this already. Anyway, I have considered my options and I think the best would be to get a used EBMM Stingray (considering it's very hard to find used Ray34's). Thing is, I wanted a black body, rosewood neck one, (not so fussy about the matching headstock) and honestly if I'm going to spend some cash I want a bass the colour I like. Absolutely loved the black Ray34, that would be perfect. I know there are some US ones with same visual specs but can't really afford one and I don't want to wait forever for one to come up secondhand! Would you go for a new Ray34, or save loads of money and get a new Stingray exactly how you want it, colour, neck, etc, or just get a used Stingray without liking what you see basically?
9.
I've had both the H2 and the H4. The H2 is idiot-proof (useful for me, then) but the H4 is the way to go is you want to plug it into the desk and start doing 4-track stuff. I keep mine set to simple mp3 recordings, use it at every gig and most rehearsals. The sound quality is fine for my purposes and (I imagine) also fine for YouTube & MySpace. I wouldn't record my first album on it, mind.
I reckon 4 tracks wouldn't be enough anyway...maybe the H2 does the job? In terms of sound quality, standard recording 360 degrees, is there a difference between the two?
10. I'm looking for a cheap recorder to record rehearsals, etc... Atm the Zoom H2 is on my top list, however I'm a bit concerned about the quality...we are a loud band and play through a 4.5k PA, quite a big room too. I know, we can always turn down, still ,the room accoustics is pretty 'live'. We previously recorded a couple of songs with our former vocalist using his Fostex LR16, bass, drum triggers and mics via DI, and drums overheads and for guitar - all straight into the desk. Although the process is much lenghtier, the sound quality was pretty good. Is it worth buying a cheap portable recorder or should I invest on a multitrack instead? (any cheap multitrack options?) Another question, can the Zoom H2 be connected directly to the mixing desk?...that way we could go through the desk and record anyone?

13. Proud GK1001RBII owner here! Awesome amps
14.
i'm sure adding a master volume to the pedal wouldn't be a huge challange
How?
15. This sucks...the level should be a master volume for the pedal regardless of the settings, so I'm assuming no one uses this pedal full on, or if it's used like this it must be on at all times with the level at 1
16. Thanks for the input guys. Just a question, I haven't tried it through the effects out, just used it in front of the amp, would it make a difference or is it a lost cause?
17. Just got one, I like my sound bass>amp Jazz into GK1001rb that is, so my intention was only to use it when I wanted a bit of dirt, now...my preferred settings are with the harmonics full on and bite 12o'c, which gives a tube like overdrive kinda sound. The problem is: Can't adjust the levels, just wanted to step on it and voila - grit, but no, the difference in volume from the clean sound to the pedal ON is ridiculous, way louder with it on and a huge loss when is OFF, tried to play around with the level knob and amp volume and no luck Also, the bloody EQ is always on! Would plugin it in through the effects out make any difference?...just wanted to be able to use the tone directly from my amp and step on the pedal for some dirt when necessary with no volume changes. Any advice?
18. we should make a BC map of gear and if people are willing to meet and try each other's gear it would be really cool
19.
Could this be any more wrong? Bass
maybe it's a fake...is not really a squier...or a bronco....or a guitar! he got the 'a bass mint condition' right though
20.
Just wondering if someone could give me a link, or a quick explanation about how the thickness on strings work. Playing drop C and the strings are to sloppy. Would thicker strings to the trick? In that case, anyone can recommend some good ones?
The answer is probably yes...BUT it will depend on the brand and material. I find stainless steel strings to have more tension than nickels for ex, I currently use nickels Elites Player heavy 110, but had a 105 set of elites stadium before, stainless steel, and had a good tension too. Again, it depends on what you play, how you play it and of course, how you like it
21. I've got the big brother 1001, amazing amps!! free bump for this bargain
22.
John McCoy ,ex Gillan bassist plays a Vintage P-type.
yep, played with his band a couple of weeks ago, great tone...BUT i'm pretty sure he had a SD pickup on it and obviously the rig helps looked good though
23. Only have 3 pedals, might another one, so I don't see the need of getting a great pedalboard (or even a need for one at all...just to keep everything neat and nice) . A small budget one will be just fine. Here are a couple of the options, any feedback or recommendations would be great! PS- not going through DIY route thanks - i'm a disaster with tools Stagg UPC424 £22.00 http://www.themusicking.co.uk/effects-peda...-version)-424mm Spider Budget Pedalboard Case £14.99 http://www.flightcasewarehouse.co.uk/music...sp?id=3423-4617
24. How is it? Sound? the venue in general? We're a London band so we don't think many people from London will come down to see us when they can do it closer to home. Does it pulls a good crowd of locals?
