*Here we go chrome version here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BAD-SS-STYLE-BRIDGE-...%3A1%7C294%3A50
Cool, cheers mate This one goes up to £16.00 though...more expensive than the other seller. Is the back of the bridge solid, like a block or not? the pic is not great
2.
you would have to position the bridge correctly and drill new holes. Not a major problem in itself, but you'd have to be comfortable with that. Can't really get an idea of the quality from that one photo, though.
Not my case...it would be a disaster trust me...lol nick, the one you've posted seems similar but with the holes in the 'right' spot. Does it fit perfectly in Fenders like the Gotoh and BAII?...shame the colour, for the price I would give it a go
3. Not sure if this should go to the eBay section, but it's not really an auction, they've got a shop but i didn't find this bridge on their website. Anyway, what do you think? It looks rugged, like an unbranded Gotoh or something...I'm looking for a bidge for my MIM Jazz but it looks like this one requires some DIY - not my thing AT ALL lol... 4.
Maybe you could get a good one cheap off Ebay?
That's what I'm thinking about, they're about £10-12 the cheapest ones that is...just don't know if I should go with the tripod or A frame?!?
5. Thanks guys..the Elites are between the two in terms of price, from what I've seen...might try them
6.
I wouldn't use "cheap" on my bass! I use a Genesis GS-100 stand. http://www.ultimatesupport.com/s.nl/it.A/id.825/.f
well..if I had your basses I would go with the best I could afford but not being the case, i just want something cheap to hold my MIM jazz during rehearsals when I go for a cigarette break
7. Looking for a cheap stand. Would it be better to go with an A frame or tripod type of stand?
8. So...I'm looking to buy a new set of strings, roundwound 45-105. I know it sounds weird but I've never tried these on my MIM Fender Jazz. (been playing with EB...sound ok, don't last that long though) I play hard rock/ metal use mostly fingers (use pick on 2 songs) According to the reviews I've read the Elixir last longer and are easier on fingers and fretboard, but opinions seem divided in terms of sound. As for Rotos, not as great in terms of durability but have a great tone. My sound is quite agressive, I'm a heavy handed guy...I'm mostly looking for a good growly sound. so bearing in mind what I play and how I play it...which one should I try now?
9. the idea is to use it in front of the amp to warm it up a bit...if i used effect out rather than in front as instrument input, will it be ok?
10. A friend of mine bought the Behringer a couple of months ago... His veredict: It 'eats' batteries in 2 or 3 reharsals He tried 2 similar power supplies, one worked, the other didn't (same voltage) and a month later both didn't work with the pedal (they were fine, he uses them with other pedals) so...I'm still not sure if I should get one or save money for the sansamp...i'm really tempted to be honest...with that price tag, it's almost begging me to buy it
11.
Squier Classic Vibe 50's & 60's Precisions, or course!
Not keen on the 50's and my problem with the 60's is the colour, otherwise it would be on my shortlist. Any other suggestions?
12. Cheers Musky Any more suggestions?
13. I have a MIM jazz...it's ok, does the job. The knobs are crap and loose all the time, bridge could be better and the pickups..not great, but not that bad i suppose. Overall it's a nice instrument but does feel a bit cheap in some aspects. I bought it 2nd hand for £200 so in your case it's different...and must be really dissapointing. We've all been there mate, in one way or another, the good thing is, it still is under the warrany and that's a good budget to purchase a nice axe. Good luck
14.
These are the same as SX - Jim Deacon. Make sure you get the 20 fret jobbies and not the cheaper 21 fret ones that come in the packs with the amp. Jim Deacon / SX FPB62 in vintage white... available for £109 delivered including strap/lead/bag etc, and comparable to genuine Fenders according to Talkbass hype. I was thinking of buying one myself... I have the white VM P and it's fantastic (pots are crap though but cheap to replace), but if I was shopping for a bass right now I would try out this one for less than half the dosh.
That sounds interesting..and looks nice too! Have you got a spec list on that, there's not much info on the website?!
15.
Vintage V4 P Bass - http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/product/1423...m_campaign=base These are excellent for the money imho.
never tried vintage basses before, how does this model compares o the Vintage ICON V4, and for that matter, all the other options?
16.
Just a quick word of warning, I bought a VMP and while it looks and sounds great, it's just starting to fall apart on me after about 2 months. The tone/volume knobs dont fit and therefore try to fall off all the time and the jack socket has just worked itself loose which is giving me intermittent sound. They're easy fixes, but these little niggles can be frustrating. I'd suggest buying 2nd hand from a reliable and honest BCer! Ben.
My MIM knobs are rubbish too. The neck volume one is completely loose, easy fix but feels really cheap. A bit of hum when the bridge pickup is full on and the neck off. The hum oes away when both are full on ?!? lol...not to mention the bridge, but again I'll upgrade it on my jazz and hopefully my future precision
17. So...I have a Fender Jazz MIM and I'm now GASing for a Precision. I'll go around the shops and try some out but what are your thoughts on the best options? I've checked the Squire VM and C Vibe ones...it looks like the CV have better specs, but there's a big problem...the colour, I just hate it! Is the VM a bood bass in this price range? Shall I go with a used Fender MIM instead?..any other brands that have affordable and good quality Precisions? All suggestions welcome. Cheers
18. I grabbed an ABM 810 for £550 new from the shop you might find one half price second hand. Ashdown stop producing them so if you get it new, you should get a decent price as they are getting rid of the stock. Never played the MAG, but for the difference in price I would say go with the ABM series, much better quality and looks. In terms of portability...it's quite manouverable, it's heavy but having said that, i went up and down the stairs with it a few times, and unlike a 4x10, the 'proper' weels and cab angle helps. Just miss a couple of back rails and the corners could be stronger. In terms of sound....I can tell you, I play a GK1001RBII and a single 4x10 just wasn't doing it for me. With this beast behind me...I've never been happier...or LOUDER!
19. I'm gonna buy it...I mean...the chinese can't be wrong and the list of famous people just assured me this is the bargain of the century I'll donate the OX Bass to OXfam so that they can be as lucky as our OX ebay seller....what a KOX
20. cheers Alex in that case, would you say the normal version will be enough? is the 'sleeve' version just a marketing trick or it can really handle more abuse...cause they're not really shock mount are they? (just a thought) I don't have to worry about valves for a start and as i said before, the ABS cases are not visually apealling to me ( i find them really ugly to be honest, some sort of military phone box! ) so I shortlisted these two versions of more 'traditional' flightcases. the GK seems quite rugged so maybe the normal version will do the job
21.
I'd get a 2U, cut a hole above the the fan on the GK, and use any tuner other than an oversized overweight overpriced rack tuner. Alex
Just bought one 2nd hand for £55 and I'm not a DIY guy...I just want to know if the difference between these two cases (sleeve and shallow) is worth the price difference, considering the protection they offer.
22. OK...last shot, between these two, which one would you buy? http://www.flightcasewarehouse.co.uk/music...sp?id=4538-2577 http://www.flightcasewarehouse.co.uk/music...sp?id=2837-2577
23. i was just curious really...don't think i'll bother to go and see it, love a bargain but i think i'll save my pennies and get something decent later. thanks for the input guys
