2. I'm reading some threads here...didn't know that, still funny though. frequency license!
  3.
make sure you get one that can be used legally (license wise) in the UK.
What? do you need a license to use a wireless system? geez!! lol
  4. recommend me one please...I haven't got a clue what's a good one also...do you prefer wireless or the good ol' lead?...just curious
  5.
I think this is the place everyone gets em from. http://www.rondomusic.com/bassguitars4.html
cheers, I've already been to their website, just wondering if there's any UK dealer...with stock would be handy
  6. ...online or in London would be great, any idea?
  7.
How about this one?
now...that is sweet ...how much for that 8x10?
  8.
I don't really like it that much to be honest but I don't really like 8x10's anymore. It's loud and fairly deep but I don't really like the sound. I'm spoilt with my Aguilars really. I can't imagine ever being happier with other cabs. They are huge sounding, rounded, fat, stupendously deep and low and unbelievably loud. I have a 1200w amp which I drive hard with lots of abusive effects and they are the only cabs I've never managed to bottom out and fart. They've completely turned me off 10's and the ABM810 now belongs to Incarnate. I should update my sig really.
Fair enough, but comparing the ABM with the ones I mentioned (or any other 8x10 in the same price range for that matter) are they a good choice? ...I dig the 2x15's too though
  9.
Er, yea, I'm sure they're really really great but they're a lot more money than all the other cabs he's looking at.
True! You've got a 810 ABM (according to your signature)? Any comments?
  10.
Yes you do know 1000 bass players with different gear. They are all members of basschat! Thats why on a forum like this it is always a good idea to put your location in your details. That way local players might get in touch, cos you never know if a guy in the next street isn't using exactly what you want.
yes father
  11.
Thats the problem with buying stuff without knowing what it is going to sound like - a mistake it appears you are going to make again
I did play through one 810 MAG once...(with Ashdown head) quite nice quite a long time ago actually, I have also played an Ampeg 810...a bit better...well what can I say, don't have a showroom with all the bass amps and cabs I would like to try, nor do I know 1000 bass players with different gear so that I can try everything I want...oh well it's hard being a peasant
  12.
AS you already have a GK410 - why not just get another one. 8x10's are only for bass players with roadies
Not very happy, getting rid of it and go with the good ol' fridge. I'm looking for a good value for money option at the moment...hence this post. Any thoughts on the Marshall anyone?
  13.
the sound from both of these cabs is great - the blueline speakers handle anything. the most significant thing for me was the ability to fine tune the sound because they are not full of mid range muff nor boxy bass or hissy highs. very transparent and clear with tons of bass. for me ashdown is the British ampeg except ampeg have 'that sound' ashdown are a little more than one trick ponies, particularly the cabs - the abm 115 is the best damn 1x15 cab I've ever had the pleasure of using. andy
Are the speakers the same for both cabs? I mean, the ABM can handle 1200w vs 800w MAG, construction is better in the ABM. Isn't MAG made in far east and ABM in the UK? I'm powering it with a GK 1001RBII...so I'm looking for a wall of sound really! A ground shaking low end is a must!
  14.
the abm is slighlty smaller and more maneuverable..
Cheers mate, nice review by the way, and helpful advice In terms of sound a reliability any thoughts ?
  15. Other suggestions in the same price range welcome
  16. Which one is the best choice, in terms of price, there's no discussion...but in terms of what really matters - sound and reliability. Looking for that SVT tone

Does anyone know of a 2x15 @ 8 ohms in the market? I know Dr. Bass can make them...but is there any other brand doing it? They all seem to be 4ohms
The size of the speaker doesn't tell you anything about the sound - it just tells you how big the speaker looks! However, I currently have a few 15"s in my house: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?s=&sho...st&p=451359 And the 15" that goes in the cab in the foreground can make more bottom than any 18" bass cab on the market. Alex
So tell me what is the best 15" cab in the market today?
It was the best tone I ever had.. lots of definition, and no clackitty-clack.
I'm quite curious to try some out, but I don't know any shop that has 18"s in stock. Hartke and SWR still make them I think, not sure about Trace and Peavey or Ampeg. Good'ol ground shaking bass mate...

Hum...interesting. Is there any 2x15 good bass cab with powerful wattage in the market? I just loooved the low end. Or two 1x15 for that matter that make a good rig? Any 15" freaks around here? PS - has anyone ever played a 18"? curious about the sound

Ok, so it looks like it's a sub. What if one get a normal PA woofer (not a sub), would it be the same as a bass cab with say a 15"?...or play through a sub and a cab with 10"s perhaps? That way would it cover the entire frequency range?

I played my amp through a 2x15 JBL 1000w @ 4ohms PA monitor the other day (can't remember the model). It sounded a bit muddy, lacked a bit of definition, maybe if I spent more time playing with eq I could get a better sound, anyway it was damn loud and bassy with plenty of low end I was wondering what's the difference between PA monitors and bass cabs really, especially now that so many players are playing through DI boxes into the PA, they are using PA monitors after all. Any thoughts?
