  1. One of several reasons I went with the new Squier Contemporary Active and 40th-Anniversary Vintage Jazz basses...incredibly smooth satin necks.
  2. Have you considered the new Vintera II Jazz?
  3. It's an unknown quantity. It's going to be a gamble...at that price, a big gamble. Sorry, but I wouldn't risk it at half the price. Better bets available.
  4. You're welcome. I have four new Squiers and the necks are incredibly smooth. Got lucky with the fretboard on this one, too.
  5. Yes, tinted, but satin finish instead of the usual sticky gloss finish.
  6. Maybe it's like one of those situations where you don't really want to sell your bass but you list it so your wife thinks you're going to sell it?
  7. Is it true that they're including a "Learn to play bass like Gene!" DVD?
  8. Over here, they're calling the Mustang Burgundy.
  9. Reverb, of course. Not sure why anyone would want to buy a used one, even an unused used one, for the same price as a new one, but..
  10. Thanks. Went a bit crazy the past few months and bought all four!
  11. No link...they're my basses.
  12. Sure, Harley Benton, but one of the special HBs.
  13. I bought a Dakota Red one, too..it's everything you could want from a Precision bass and it looks great!
  14. Sorry, can't watch that guy!
  15. Yes, translucent...you can see the grain. I've seen quite a few nice ones but several that looked pretty bad, indeed. Might be a good idea to check these out in person...this from someone who owns 12 basses, 9 purchased online. I'd like to meet the genius who thought this was a good idea just to ask him why they weren't painted Dakota Red instead.
  16. Some are already available on Reverb.
  17. You might want to try taps for shoes...these are rubber. Not very thick but you can glue 2 or 3 together.
  18. Zero-Mod makes several different thumb-rests. You can cut it smaller if you like, of course, and it is curved. Other than that, something like the Bass Buddy thumb-rest should be easy to make with a 3-D printer.
  19. One available here...several pre-orders, too. https://reverb.com/item/73205405-fender-vintera-ii-70s-competition-mustang-bass-rosewood-board-comp-orange
  20. That's not why they're getting blown out. Other than that, what's wrong with Indian Laurel?
