  1. Some people might disagree, but I think Fender simply doesn’t care. I was excited when this bass came out until I noticed the typical truss-rod access bs, but that was only strike one, and let's face it, no chance of hitting it out of the park now with two strikes and the batter standing there with the bat on his shoulder and the next pitch halfway to the plate.
  2. Supro used them on their Huntington basses.
  3. As for those "Jazz basses have two pickups" remarks, I can think of two of the top of my head with only one. So...
  4. If that doesn't work, I'm going to suggest an older Dean Exotica with the Aphex System electronics. Dean Exoticas have very slim necks. Really no different than my other electric basses. https://youtu.be/ZUIKUAYND6E
  5. Something new from Fender. Available in 2-Color Sunburst, too, but it just doesn't work. Sorry Fender, you should've gone with Shell Pink. Sweetwater...$1,299.99. (Yes, a lot of money for an MIM, but...)
  6. Reverend Thundergun SPLIT BRICK Strong lows and highs, open mids. Like a vintage P bass pickup but with more beef, yet retains clarity. 43 gauge wire, ceramic magnet, 8.5K ohms. THICK BRICK Warm and thick with strong mids. Output and punch like an active, but more organic sounding. 42 gauge wire, ceramic magnet, 7K ohms.
  7. Something like this is another story entirely, of course.
  8. Yes, I'm well aware that many people are drawn to the Fender name...simply based on that name on the headstock. Doesn't change what I think about the Player line. I've played quite a few and they're not bad, they're just not that good...and they're simply unappealing when compared to so many other similar basses. Sure, many will claim looks aren't important, but that's ridiculous. Occasionally you'll see a special Player bass, the Green Burst is okay, but it seems Fender saves the more attractive finishes for certain USA models. By the way, I do own these, and wouldn't trade either for a Fender player Jazz, even if Fender threw in a Rumble 500.
  9. $2,000 for something special. The thing is, I have several special basses already. First one was only $1,350, second one only $425, so...
  10. Dare to be different...beats most finishes Fender's doing. Looks like something from Bacchus.
  11. Seriously, I'd like to meet anyone wiling to spend $1,000 on a Player Series bass just to ask them why they'd even consider spending that kind of money on one of these.
  12. Well, people are paying $1,600 for MIMs so... As for worth, they're obviously worth big money to some, but I wouldn't buy one. I do own two very nice Squiers, and two exceptional G&Ls, but I still haven't heard any compelling reasons to go Fender instead.

    Plexi fakes

I wouldn't buy anything from AliExpress even if Paul McCartney recommended it. The Ampeg Dan Armstrong bassses are okay, but they were never really something special when it comes to playability and tone. Greco made a decent copy for people who simply must have a Lucite bass...almost bought one until I realized even $700 could buy me a much better bass.
  14. I like this one. https://youtu.be/ZDb4pMsS7sE
  15. $1,600 for an MIM? Sure, it sounds like a lot of money but it does come with a gig bag! Excuse me, a deluxe gig bag.
  16. And I thought these looked bad, but this new Fender takes the cake!
  17. Used mine for rehearsal Saturday. No comfort issues whatsoever...played for about an hour and a half...despite forgetting to put on the terrycloth wrist band I'd bought. I've known about this bass for ten years but only recently tried one out...what a pleasant surprise.
  18. Reminds me of the Meteora. Looks good in black.
  19. I'd look elsewhere. I like USA Hillsboros but can't justify spending $1,000 plus for one, and I'm a Dean fan...I have two Dean Exotica acoustic basses and have owned several other Deans in the past.
  20. Is it one of their USA-made basses?
