Are these genuinely rare? I thought they were just the standard Jazz shape for about 4 or 5 years around the early 90s? If so, there must have been thousands sold.

Looks like it's all academic now:
It is unlikely that anyone will bid the amount on eBay, required for me to let it go, over (£100,000). However the emails and comments have been interesting. Especially from the experts, con artists and wise guys out there. Anyone really interested and with the available cash would be knocking on my door now. It is also advertised in a retail outlet and there is a great amount interest in it. I will remove it from eBay as it is obviously never going to reach the right amount, but it is nice to be able to show it to the world. Glad you like it. Thank you.
He's obviously never seen an eBay listing in its final hours before. Up, up and away!
If you are on a budget these are very playable and excellent value for money: http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product~name~S...lic~ID~3431.asp
Baffling picture in that link... description says it's V/V/T controls, but the picture has two knobs and a jack socket.
Do you really need a Jazz pickup on a Precision with modern amps and their "super" EQ's?
Nope. My P-J tends to be P on 10, J on 0, and even through the Barefaced Vintage there's loads of bite and snarl. I even prefer the P sound for slap... or I would if I could slap properly.
He might've given it a clean - that fretboard's vile.
That's nothing. The bridge looks like a prop from a ghost train:
Can he do that?
I think not, and I'm pretty sure eBay don't take kindly to this either:
THE ITEM IS ON SALE IN ANOTHER PLACE AND I WILL REMOVE IT FROM EBAY IF IT IS SOLD.
Definitely watching that one. Pretty local to me... if only he'd kept it "collection only" to keep the bidders away.

STOP PRESS! 122mm on my 2008/9! But then again, my pup's a retrofitted Nordstrand, so I've kind of disqualified myself there.
A low C-sharp for part of a song would be great, Hipshot would be brilliant, but can they extend more than the tone from E to D?
I've had over a fifth out of mine, just to see how low it could go, but that's on the low B of a 5-string. (Yep, it dropped it down to LOW E-flat.) You probably won't get quite that far on an E-string, but C-sharp's no problem.
(Also, are they accurate enough to snap down and up during a single song?)
Yes. That's kind of the whole point of fitting them! If you don't trust the accuracy, you'll just be re-checking the tuning after every flip up/down. Honestly, they're rock solid. I'll reiterate, though: LUBE YOUR NUT!
Just a quick question. I'm wondering how this would work regarding shipping?
+1 (cos I'm interested in a Gramma... )
Could you guys with Fender Precisions post the distance in mm from the centre of the 20th fret to the centre of the E/A pup poles please? Also does anyone know if the position ever changed over the course of time?
I'll measure my 08/09 up this evening. But I bet Howard the Bass Doc knows the distance off the top of his head. And he'll certainly know the answer to the question of changing position. Paging Howard!

I sold my Ashbory to Donny, and he was nice and easy to deal with. He expressed an interest, asked me a few questions, sent me money and let me know when the Ashbory arrived. Super-smooth!

Gigged the Barefaced Compact again last night...
...I'd have been left with arms like Mr. Tickle.
That would be no bad thing for a bass player. Imagine the super-long scale monsters you could play with that reach. That said, he's only got 4 digits per hand. Anyway, enough about children's characters. We don't want to drift onto Miss Rabbit again... -
I had a gig last night at a venue with the load-in from hell. Walk across a yard, through a room, up some stairs, through a room, up some stairs, through a room, up some stairs and walk to the back of the concert room. Nightmare.
What's the venue? Name and shame! (Bet you were glad you didn't take the Bergs...) EDIT: Just checked the Caffs site and it must be South Shields Football Club. Don't think there's much chance of me having to worry about ever playing there... -
Thats a nice neat board there.
One man's "neat board" is another man's "room for more pedals"! -

Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass Fretless
BottomEndian replied to cLepto-bass's topic in Basses For Sale
I didnt realise this bass would create such a stir. Healthy market for thse great basses it seems.
I had 5 enquiries in 20 minutes when I put this up for sale last week. Still, it deserves it. They're great basses for the coin. -
When I've saved my pennies for a good while and I can't think of anything else I'd rather have, I'd like a 1979 Music Man. Stingray or Sabre, I'm easy. Shame I predate the Cutlass by a few months.

Why do people keep requesting tabs in this forum?
