  1. This is why I just use these little rubber washers: https://amzn.eu/d/avuN78j Work a treat and means you don't have to replace the strap buttons/screws on basses which I always worry about.
  2. I definitely wouldn't call 8lbs super light though, given chambered, short scale and/or light wood (like basswood) bodies frequently come in at 7 or less.
  3. Sorry I said 3.6 when I meant 3.8. I go by my player precision which is 8.3lbs and doesn't neck dive. Not the way I wear it anyway. I look at the weight of a lot of P basses on places like bass direct, peach guitars, here, bassbros etc. Circa 8lbs is very doable for Alder precisions although at the lighter end. I don't just stipulate a low weight to be an awkward bugger, I have a pretty severe back problem, much over that threshold is a sit down instrument for me.
  4. I've been tempted by these several times. People who have them, how heavy are they? I really don't like stuff much over 3.8Kish.
  5. Thinking about selling my Darkglass Microtubes 900 head, and replacing it with an Ampeg SGT DI and a Behringer NX1000 power amp. My cab would remain the same - a Darkglass neo 112. I've asked elsewhere, but get varying responses with some people saying the pedal wouldn't be able to drive the power amp, but surely the pedal is no different to the front end in my Darkglass head? The idea is for gigs and practice I would try to just take my pedalboard and either go direct or into the effects in of backline, or the front end if I like the clean sound of the amp. The power amp and cab would mostly be for home and situations where there isn't a PA or an amp I can use. The Darkglass cab is pretty bright esp with the tweeter all the way up, so I reckon I could even run the cab sim on the pedal into it so my sound won't be too different between the cab and DI/Phones. What do you think? Will I be sacrificing anything tone wise? Aside from preferences between the DG and Ampeg preamp/distortion obv. Thanks in advance.
  6. I love that, including the finger rest (not that I have use for one).
  7. This Mexican Precision is home. I'd rather lose a leg. I put a tort pickguard and some vintage neve style knobs on it, and its perfect in every way. 😊
  8. It's interesting to me that as the price of used gear keeps going up and up, so does the quality of very cheap new gear made in China. Not just basses either, but amps and effects too. Used to be that if someone new asked about bass gear I'd be telling them to look for quality used items at bargain prices, but now it's hard not to tell people to buy a harley benton bass and amp and a demonfx darkglass clone pedal, because you probably won't find anything used which competes with it in terms of value for money. ☹️
  9. I might be interested in one with bass playing women. 😊 Doesn't have to be just precisions either. Carol Kaye's sunburst P with tort, Suzi Quattro's sunburst P with gold, Kim Deal's red P with silver plate, Kim Gordon's Thunderbird, Tina Weymouth's Mustang, Kira Roessler's blue Rick, Darcy Wretzky's black Jazz with star stickers, Kristen Pfaff's black on black P with Spock sticker, Josephine Wiggs Stingray, Jenny Lee Lindberg's white Rick, Cait O'Riordan's black/black/maple P with IRL sticker just a few that stick in my mind. Also just as an FYI cuz I feel obligated as a transfem bass player, Women is preferable to Female, cuz we're so used to hearing female in contexts where people are deliberately excluding trans women.
  10. I keep watching all the demo videos for this, and can't get past thinking it sounds better imo than the darkglass vintage microtubes, which is my main sound at present. Realised I'd never tried running my delay and reverb up front, so gave it a go, and with the low drive I usually run as my main sound it kind of sounds cool. I might be back to thinking I can forgive it the lack of an FX loop...
  11. Yeah it's a real bummer. Obviously I could run the preamp out into effects before whatever power amp I'm using, but then there's no point in this being a DI cuz I'd have to take the DI from somewhere further down the chain.
  12. I'm tempted to sell my darkglass head and replace it with this and a power amp... It should have an effects loop though! I use reverb and delay in my sound, and they need to sit behind drive. Why do so few people put an effects loop on preamp/DI/cab sim pedals like this? Is there an easy work around for this that I'm not aware of?
  13. Ergonomically shaped for generously proportioned bassists: the Fender Bellycaster
  14. This is still available. I still don't have a box to ship it in though sadly. Slightly less skint now, so if you're remotely local, hit me up with your weird trade offers for random crap collecting dust in your garage. πŸ™ƒ
  15. Thats pretty sweet actually, even though its not my kind of music normally and I clicked cuz the title made me think it was metal πŸ˜… but I found myself getting really into it. πŸ‘
  16. Post deleted due to embarassment lol.
  17. Ibanez FZMINI. Its basically a big muff in a tiny package. Well made and designed pedals these. Not like the generic amazon mini pedals. These are made in Japan and feel solid. Velcro on the back. No box. Β£50 shipped. Make me an offer if you think I've overpriced it. Cheers.
  18. Ibanez Mezzo 32" Scale 5 string for sale. The pickguard has scratches, but otherwise its in good cosmetic condition. Nice well made light weight well balanced 5 string that's easy to play cuz of the medium scale. The bridge pickup has stopped working. I have no idea why. Everything else works gΓΌd tho. I never liked the bridge pickup on this anyway to be honest, but the "dynamix" P pickup sounds ace. The action is prolly slightly high and I can't be bothered to adjust it. Selling cuz I'm completely boracic so feel free to hit me with low ball offers. I'm probs desperate enough to accept lol.
  19. Just an update on this. I bought a mega cheap rig for myself as an early Christmas/birthday present, and I'm loving 6 strings! I've got a Harley Benton TE20 - can't fault it for the money, although the fretboard is too flat. Into a harley benton Tube15 - this is amazing for the money. Sounds better to my ears than some very expensive rigs I've heard people play through. Pilfered an analogue delay off me bass board. Added a behringer SF300 fuzz. Crank the reverb and gain on the amp. Roll off the volume for cleaner stuff. Instant Rock n Roll! Lot of people would say I'm not even learning guitar, cuz I got frustrated with the irregular third interval on the top 2 strings, so I just tuned them up to C and F so the whole fretboard is in 4ths. I'm basically playing a 6 string bass tuned an octave high. πŸ˜…
  20. Apologies, but no, I've decided to keep it, having taken up the 6 string. Second instrument requires a second fretboard.
  21. Definitely not aspiring to anything like that. Just wanna have fun making cool noises in me bedroom, maybe get better at writing songs, which I do on bass now, and eventually be good enough to potentially play guitar in a band as well, giving me more options. I also don't ever think I'll be able to play bass and sing at the same time, my basslines move about quite a lot and the syncopation is hard, but maybe I could get to the point where I could play rhythm on guitar and sing, opening up even more options.
  22. That's some sweet lead playing for sure.
