  1. Incidentally, I can't find the box now to be exact about it, but that LS-2 is from the late 90s or early 2000s, and everything on it is solid as a rock. Boss pedals are built like tanks. 🙂
  2. They do the job, but don't seem as durable as the ernie ball patch cables I've got. I've used stagg and donner patch leads as well, same goes for them. Those pancake style ones aren't my preference - even though they're flat, they are quite wide and can be a problem with close together sockets, like on boss pedals. My LS2 for instance has 3 cables going out of each side, wouldn't work with most flat cables.
  3. That looks very classy. 👌
  4. Yeah, this pedalboard came about entirely cuz one of my favourite bass sounds is a RAT but with lots more bass. Hence the LS2 and EQ pedal. It sounds awesome imo.
  5. Yeah, there's lots of compromises here, and cheap amazon patch leads is one that isn't gonna change, but I have ordered more long cables so I will be able to move the 850 fuzz to a less cramped position. I wanna keep the three mini pedals at the back though, cuz everything going to my amp then comes out of the same side - front end comes from the 850, and the send/return goes into the chorus and out the delay. The pedals I undoubtedly stomp on most often are the LS2 and the TU3. 😅
  6. I just like Boss pedals, and think the Boss will be more durable. The Behringer is, unless I'm mistaken, a GEB7 in a cheap plastic housing, so should do exactly the same thing sound wise.
  7. Those are beautiful! I can't really justify spending that much on knobs at the moment, but I love the idea of asking him to modify some of those pick shaped knobs to be heart shaped - think that would look really cool. Especially on a bass with those vintage ibanez style heart shaped tuners...
  8. No specific recommendations, as options abound and very much depends on what style you're going for. In case it helps though, as yours is a Player Precision like mine (saw your intro thread), you will have 1/4" pots with smooth shafts, so don't get knobs to fit 6mm, or splined shafts. 🙂
  9. As a certified weight weenie, and also poor person (lol), buying a new bass at any price over a hundred quid or so without holding it is a big gamble. I can see why not many shops are up front about weight, cuz they end up with all the boat anchors left in stock and have to reduce them. But I wish more were. Peach guitars are pretty good - they individually photograph and weigh all their basses over 300 quid. My sweet spot is about 8lbs, which a lot of alder bodied Fenders/Squiers hit perfectly, but the trouble is you can also find the same bass weighing 12lbs or more, which is a crazy difference, and it doesn't seem to matter if its top of the line American stuff, or Chinese made squiers. If I came into a lump of money, can absolutely see myself ordering one of the AVII 60 Precisions as a kind of one bass for the rest of my life purchase, but you'd have to be mad (or just have a very strong back) to do so without knowing the weight imo.
  10. Basically: Mexican: Player - modern passive Plus - modern active Vintera - classic American: Performer - modern passive pj Professional - modern passive Ultra - modern active pj Original/Vintage - classic I've only had a player precision, but have absolutely no complaints. I bought it new with a good setup, and it's me number 1.
  11. Also, I'm not absolutely certain how I fit into this, as I'm trans-feminine, but I'm also kinda massive. 😅
  12. I came here to say this, really dig her interesting basslines and her tone.
  13. I also went on a journey figuring out what I like, pausing briefly on short scales, fanned frets, active electronics, 5 strings and headless necks. I too landed on a precision in the end - in my case, a humble Mexican made one, and it's been all I play for some time now. Don't see it ever going. I find it hard to get my head around, but I increasingly think ole Leo might have just perfected the design of the electric bass in about 1957, which is stunning really. Yours is lovely. Nout wrong with burst & tort, but imo that one would look pretty neat with anodised gold too. 👌
  14. I guess it's possible that Fenders window of vintage nostalgia might move forward in time, once all the money stops being concentrated in the hands of people old enough to remember it, but for the time being, boomers are the target demographic for anyone selling "luxury" items for obvious reasons. On the other hand, I see no shortage of sentimentality regarding the music of the 60s and 70s from gen Z. In fact, prog/psychedelic rock is currently having a big comeback. Long hair and listening to Zep is in, and probably will be again in our lifetime.
  15. It's not like this is all they do though. Over the past few years or so they've also released the Meteora - a new offset bodyshape with active electronics and dual humbuckers, and the American Ultra and Player Plus ranges with noiseless pups and active electronics, and the Aerodynes with 12" fretboard radiuses and babicz bridges. Not exactly innovative by say Ibanez standards, but its also not like they just put out these type of traditional jobs with Nitro finishes and period correct specs. If Fender released a headless bass with fanned frets, roasted necks, fishman fluence pups and stuff, I suspect nobody would buy them.
  16. In good nick. Will leave the velcro on. The bag has barely been used - been a bedroom board. £30 collected (Keynsham, Bristol), £35 shipped. Cheers Vyn.
  17. I bought these from a seller called ampspares on ebay who has a fine assortment of knobs. In terms of stuff to search for in general, definitely try looking for amp/pedal knobs if you're after something different - searches for guitar knobs tend to bring up the same traditional gibson fender styles.
  18. Pedalboard update. Signal splitting shenanigans - into the EQ and back for clean low end, mixed with the RAT to taste for my main overdrive/distortion tone. Into the 850 fuzz for DOOM. Then the chorus and delay in the FX loop. The behringer will be replaced with a boss GEB7 when I can afford/find a cheap used one. The 850 fuzz is in danger of being replaced with a different mini big muff type thing at some point - can be hard to dial in a tone for bass on the ibanez. I play my Precision through this into a Darkglass head which provides my "clean" tone, which also has some hair on it using the built in VMT circuit. It sounds frankly insane for not very much money.
  19. Cool looking bitsa. Do you know what the body is from/made of? What's the weight?
  20. So I went with some vintage Neve style knobs in "Oxblood". What do we think?
  21. Cool, so do you run the neck pickup through one of those MB200s, and the bridge pickup through the other? Are you processing them differently or running effects on the bridge? Always intrigued by stereo rigs.
