To be fair, this is more pandemic related with factories not producing and (just as important) lots of shipping containers in completely the wrong place. The supply of components outside the EU is unaffected by Brexit itself.

The lack of shipping containers has multiplied the cost of them at least seven-fold.

It was a joke but I can see why people are sore over the subject...

As lockdown freedom approaches, I've been jamming/auditioning with three local covers bands. One has invited me to join them. I've only played with them twice - audition, plus first full rehearsal. The first full rehearsal was recorded, and I've been listening to our efforts. It's pretty clear to me that the singer isn't especially good. She sounds flat most of the time to me - my partner describes the singer's voice as "unmusical". I thought this when the band sent me their pre-audition recordings, and I thought it at my first jam/audition. The recordings of the first full rehearsal strengthens my view. What to do? Key points:

I'm have a feeling - could well be completely wrong - that the singer and one of the guitarists may be an item.

I'm very much the new boy and certainly wouldn't want to upset anybody. "Carry on in quiet desperation is the English way..."

I'm keen to get back out there playing with real people again, but not if I'm always inwardly wincing at the singer's voice.

What's the best approach here, folks?

If they are indeed an item then you'll find it tough to get rid, most likely they'll boot you if anything.

I would walk - easiest way to avoid drama.

Unfortunately, a lot of punters judge you on your singer and if they're not up to scratch, then there is a high chance you won't get great reviews. Just the way these things work.

I would focus on the other two bands.

I'm unsure what @Supernaut means by the pots being off.  Certainly no issue here with them; they're linear, crackle free and the tone does what it's supposed to do.

The pups are great but EMG used not so great pots - definitely not CTS standard. Swap them out and you'll see what I mean.

I love my TM4 so much I'm getting ready to put in an order for another Sandberg.  P-based this time.

    BIG PROBLEMS THOUGH!!!!

    Do I get a VT4 or a VM4?

I'd love to hear a 1:1 comparison between having the J or the HB at the bridge but alas...

I prefer the classic look of the VT but tone is more important than anything else.

Can anyone share their experiences in comparing the two?  Pros/Cons of each?

Sandberg are *extremely* rarely seen in any shops in my part of the country so I have to buy sight-unseen...

    Thanks!!

    Here's a pic of my much-loved TM4:

I would go for the VT. Best of both worlds with the pups and would compliment a TM quite nicely.

Oh Jeez. Let's get on w/ the "eclectic tastes"  topic. So, being from NEW JERSEY USA, I can't stand the likes of BonJovi or Bruce Springsteen. Now. Full disclosioure. The woman I am dating is the daughter of the gym teacher that taught J Bongiovi (real spelling back in Sayreville NJ) and mentions him in a song (Hey Coach T., I finally cut my hair) I admire the man&band but his music SUCKS, Same w/ Bruce. ( I went out w/ a girl that was enamored w/ the bastard 'cause he says WENDY 3 TIMES in BTR-her name was Wendy and he didn't know who she was) But I admire Bruce Springsteen. Just can't stand the music. Really. REALLY. I have tried. Watched the EPIC  P.ERFORMANCES. WITH THE HAT. DON'T GET IT.

Dillinger Escape Plan are clearly the best band from NJ!
