Hardcore pop-punk! They're by no means hardcore, apart from for folks who don't like or know what hardcore is! https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m002fb7q/glastonbury-turnstile-never-enough - this is softer than Green Day!
See Exploited, GBH, Black Flag, Minor Threat, Rancid, Bad Religion, Bad Brains, Sick of It All... Or:
...and you have given a link to their new material which has helped break them to a wider audience hence my comment about "branching out their sound".
This is their older material:

Suicial Tendencies, IMO, is metal.

Someone advised me to watch the turnstile set. Future of metal apparently. All excited I put it on expecting some aggressive guitars, heavy drumming and angry vocals. What I heard is what I would imagine the elevator music at the Kerrang offices sounds like.

Turnstile are not metal. They have always been a hardcore band. They have only gone up the food chain recently due to branching out their sound. Glow On is a fantastic album.

Memo to BBC: Glastonbury is over. Time to go home, have a good scrub and then you can tell your friends all about it. It's changed your life, you made new friends and experienced music that touched your soul.
I.e. Stop posting articles about it! We get it! You went! Now, it's over!!

Buy a BDDI if you want that tone? None of the other preamps here are trying to be an SVT.

Love the Laney. Subtle EQ and options that benefit the player in a live situation. It doesn't force a baked in sound - it lets you dial in how you want it.

I have a ProDI for emergency situations and everyone has loved it.

There's always bands happy to just play whether paid or not. Those who aren't just turn it down, no one is forcing them. Personally I play for fun and don't care whether I get paid as long as it doesn't cost me too much.
I thought you retired from gigging?

The artists playing the festival have always been paid little or nothing because it was all about raising money for charity.
Most of the stages are independently run, the festival only books bands for the main stages
It's amazing how many times venues have tried to book my (originals) band under the premise of a charity gig, i.e. we don't have to pay the bands.
Charity is a good thing; not paying bands isn't.

Is this coming up? It's not like the BBC have mentioned it...

OK, so as many of us will probably have already come across, or will do soon.... Little awkward bits of getting older are now taking effect on being in a band.
Like what?
We'll, my main two are:
1. (this kills me to say..) weight of basses. Even though I'm fine with the weight, I can really feel it when the gig is over.
So, a lighter bass for longer gigs (we do an average of 90 mins in one go) is an option. Any other ideas? We are fully no backline and iems so I've already saved on that.
2. And this is causing the most hassle.... Eyesight.
Its going worse as I get older, but now I can't really see a set list on the floor. Worse, I can't see what patches I'm on on my (albeit small) zoom ms60b+.
The thing is, we are in a touring band (theatres /larger venue etc) where the look is just as much as the playing, so I can't have a stand, or anything obvious. I don't want to wear glasses, but if I did it still wouldn't work as I can see fine close up, but not further away. So... on this one I don't know what to do?
Get an ipad? A larger pedal with a large display so I can read it? (we do switch through a lot of different patches and sounds).
Any other tips people have come across?

Unless the bass is fretless you shouldn't be pressing down on the strings so hard that you come into contact with the fingerboard.
For me fretted bass fingerboards are chosen for looks and nothing else.
Nailed it.

I hear these two are quite similar - my new classic vibe has SDs, but I'm just wondering were if it'd be worth me upgrading to the Gzrs for recording heavy rock/proto heavy metal tones, or should I save my money and stick to the SPB1s? Apparently the only difference between these and the Gzrs is that the latter has a bit more of an upper mid push....just wondering if I can just tweak the amp/od pedal EQ, or would it not be the same?
How about these?

We have been navigating with difficulty after sacking our singer and losing our drummer.
Our current five piece line up includes three people in at least one other band. It’s apparent that, in the two weeks since the last rehearsal, no-one has done any homework or practice, leading to a less fruitful three hot, sweaty hours today than hoped.
My guitarist, with me the only permanent one-band member, is at his wits’ end. I am just concentrating on fulfilling gigs. The availability question will limit those, I accept, but that is of less concern than risking losing my most reliable band mate.
My question - can a band thrive if most of its members have other, clearly more interesting/lucrative interests? If so, how do you manage/motivate them?
No.

I hate changing my strings and have consequently had the same ones on both my basses for about two years. I dislike the zingy bright sound new strings give and am wondering if I should just go to flatwounds? Any advice?
Turn the tone control down?

Nothing out the ordinary to me. Why not arrange a rehearsal and see how it goes?

MXR Brown Acid is my current fuzz of choice. Based on the Supa Tone Bender circuit but with more bass.

MK II definitely has the bass boost.

The MK II for me is the one. It is the low gain pedal in my opinion.
