UPS, DHL and FedEx I've had good results with. Hermes are 50/50, Yodel are hopeless, Parcelfarce well...

I went to swap pickups on a bass today and as expected I need to just make a little bit more space in the bottom of the pickup cavity, which shouldn't be a problem but I'm a bit stuck for time, want to do it carefully, need to sharpen chisels... all of which is fine, but now I'm wondering if the bass will be okay with the strings off for a few days? Or should I loosen the truss (which means setting it up again afterwards)?
Whenever I start jobs like this I always get reminded how little I really know.
The bass neck will be fine... this is another one of those myths that does the rounds from time to time.

Love my TM4 SL. Best bass I've ever played come to think of it!

Or it's safe to do so?

Have you ordered a Hiscox yet?
Bought mine secondhand 15 years ago and still going strong.

Well add DHL to the list of couriers that can't be bothered to deliver to the right address.
Earlier today I had an email from a supplier saying that my order had been completed. When I emailed them back asking what that meant, because I hadn't received my items from them yet, I got a message saying that they had checked the tracking and apparently the "delivery was refused" yesterday. That's weird because I work from home and I am in all day. From where I work I can see pretty much every vehicle that comes down the street - it's a cul-de-sac - and there was no DHL van/lorry that I noticed yesterday, and no attempted delivery that I have "refused". I did have a parcel delivered by my trusty postman with no problem. What this means is that they have tried the wrong address - but which wrong address I don't know because all my neighbours know me and they know that I work from home and if I really hadn't been i would have taken the parcel for me. The tracking number that my supplier has given me doesn't work, and having phoned them up for more information they now can't get the tracking number to work for them so that delivery can be re-arranged for Monday. Oh joy!
DHL - Delivering Horribly Late

You may be dry but I know the punters won't want to get wet... played far too many 'festivals' to literally one man and his dog!

MarkBass every time - amazing little combo that I've had no problems with using Fenders/Stingrays/Sandbergs etc.

Yodel are the ones to avoid IMO.
Nobody wants to hear the sentence, "We have delivered your package but it's on the roof"!

Has anyone tried the Darkglass Vintage Microtubes?

I'm not a native english speaker so forgive me if I have misunderstood something. I thought there is a definitive difference in "are you" and "you are", so the amount of backside damage in this thread is confusing to me.
The video raises a valid point for discussion. It presents a problem and offers a solution. If you feel somehow attacked by this, then you probably have a not so active stage presence. And that is completely fine as long as you yourself have made peace with it.
I like active shows.
Or... it's a YouTuber who wants a few more hits on his video so signed up to Basschat just to plug it.

I thought the Ultimate Drive dropped the lows quite a bit unless you set the tone control really low to the point of it being too muffled. The American Sound has more low end for sure.
It's the low end hitting the circuit that tends to 'bottom out' overdrives, I find the Tech21 VTDI and YYZ have good features to counter this. The VTDI character control is a high mid boost before the clipping stage; so crank that up and compensate by backing off the blend and adjusting the EQ. The YYZ has a button to lop off the deep lows going into the drive section, which you compensate for by blending in clean low end (the clean channel is EQ'd to boost the lows and roll off the mids/highs). The Amptweaker Tight Drive does something similar too.
How does the VTDI and YYZ differ? Are they similar circuits?

Great thread! Which Muff have you found has the most mids? All Muffs I use tend to just get buried in the mix when you engage them.

What makes a great bass?
A great sound guy!

I've ditched my amps and only use a DI box now... much easier to haul around!

On advice from the Forum I just picked up a Joyo American Sounds pedal. Cheap as chips and sounds good to my ears: https://www.joyoaudio.co.uk/JOYO-JF-14-american-sound-effect-pedal
Does it retain the lows? Is the original signal left alone?
A lot of cheaper pedals I've found seem to have a nasty habit of cutting the lows...

Does the Radial ProDI or Radal JDI count? Only DI boxes I seem to use these days!

I am after an overdrive pedal that gives me a little more grunt than my TC Spark Booster.
I play a Sandberg TM4 primarily. I know some ODs don't work so well with active bass and just end up 'bottoming' out.
I'm not after a fuzz or anything like that, more of a valves being pushed into regular overdrive territory.
Cheers!

I have a Sandberg TM4 with the Black Label pups and it's fantastic.

I've had the Polytune app for a couple of years - great little app.

I’m looking for something with 24 frets, 5 strings and 19mm spacing.. I’ve got a Mayones Jabba atm which I adore but I just can’t get on with the 18mm spacing (or more that switching between that and my other wider spaced basses gets too annoying)
Ideally something not too lairy looking like the MTD’s etc, I really do just like the look of a fender or a nice bit of wood.. Always got on with the jazz bass configuration. Also not overly fussed about it being active!
Any advice??
Sandberg sounds like the answer to me.
