The one I bought from https://www.guitarselectric.co.uk/ fitted fine. It seems to be the standard 13 screw hole pattern.
Did you have issues with shielding afterward?

Does anyone know of a drop in replacement pickguard for the Precision basses?
Fancy changing the gold anodized guard for a more traditional version.

It'd be more accurate to say that b/s evolves. All this "genre" tripe is invented by music journo's who can't play but are desperate to carve out a career in music and make it appear that they know something. Judgemental? Dismissive? Me? You bet.
You feeling alright?

I usually record bass with the drums, live in the room. Can't explain why but I've always preferred doing this over doing it separately.

I stand by my statement. Controversial, sure. But the point remains - a bass is supposed to be played. Not put in a glass cabinet.

If you're buying a bass for investment purposes then you're not a bass player.

My Precision has scratchy pots so I'm hoping some contact cleaner should do the trick.
Can anyone recommend one? Thanks.

I brag a lot about my band. They're young, smart, fair and generous to a fault. We've been together since 2007.
Maple Road gave me everything I'd ever wanted in a band. When and if this band folds that will be it for me. I'm too spoiled and I'm 70.
I'll go out on a high note.

If I'm ever in Milwaukee again, I will give you a shout.

So I'm thinking of ordering the Rotosound Swing Bass RS66LN 45-100 Nickel, is that a good starting point?
Also I want to try some Flatwounds and was thinking of these:
D'Addario get a good rep:Ernie Ball too:

Wow, the mythical Tayste 2000. All we need now is fellow OG, Toasted, and the thread is complete.
I'm currently using Pure Nickel strings which are a little brighter than flatwounds but very close.

Has anyone compared the SolidGoldFX Beta to the Germanium version?

If you like the Spark Booster you could try the other offerings from TC, the MojoMojo and Dark Matter.
The Dark Matter is brighter than the MojoMojo (with a little less bass) from the demos online but the two aren't too dissimilar to the Spark.
I have heard the MojoMojo is similar to the Blueberry and it does have a treble control to brighten things up...

The barstaff, security, sound person, cleaners etc. all get paid so why not the band? F pay to play venues.

Get yourself a new set of strings and I think you'll hear the difference immediately.

Blends always sound weird to me.

Don't forget Bass Bros just down the road too.

I believe what I'm after is a combination of the Blueberry and Spark Booster.
The Blueberry was so close to what I wanted but it was dark and extremely difficult to brighten up or add some clarity.
That's much easier on the Spark Booster but I feel that the SB never gets as valve-like has the Blueberry. The breakup sounds more natural too.

I had a CIC Inca Silver Jazz too. Solid bass but way overhyped for what they were.
The 40th Anniversary models were(are) superb. I went into purchase what I thought would be a US model or Custom Shop Precision but the Squier was just as well built, played just as nicely and sounded phenomenal.

I fully recommend Dunlop Flatwounds. Great all purpose flat with exceptional playability.
