Was the bass properly set-up to accommodate the smaller gauge? I've never had issues with extra light gauges. 

The PMT in Northampton felt like that ten years ago.

Great basses and a fantastic price. If anything, I think you have undervalued it. GLWTS. 

I do one string off, one string on. 

Detune. 
Take string off without snipping. 
Colour in nut slot (pencil). 
Install new string. 
Make sure the wraps are neat and low on the capstan. 
Make sure string is properly seated in nut and bridge saddle. 
Tune to pitch. 
Stretch string. 
Set witness points. 
Tune again. 
 

Repeat for the other strings before checking intonation across all four strings.

Has anyone tried the nickel version of this string? 

If anyone asks why you play a Squier, tell them you left the Fender at home. Snobs don't understand that how an instrument plays and sounds is better than what's on the headstock.

Anyone who is remotely successful always gets hate. Especially on BC. 

Bass is fugly but that's just my opinion. 

I have a Zoom H2N for recording rehearsals and it's fantastic. 

Because Hermes was getting such a bad rep so name change = new company.

Another good thing about these basses is the gold hardware. It will take no time at all to obtain that roadworn look. The body may take a little longer mind... 

I use SIT Foundations for roundwounds. Great strings.
