1. Just to reiterate, not looking for trades as just got a Geddy Lee and looking at a Lakland to replace this with. Happy buying!
2. ... totally forgot to add it comes with the original Sadowsky fitted semi-hard case and the see through pick guard that the owner before me took off, so no screws!
3. 2nd PRICE DROP: [s]£2350[/s] [s]£2200[/s] £2000 Up for sale is my 5 string Sadowsky NYC Jazz: Ive had it since 2010, think it was made in the late 90s and has a very early serial number - I've emailed Sadowsky to try and find out a bit more but haven't heard back yet. Fitted with Bartolini pickups, probably not original and the overall condition is fairly good but quite a few small knocks/scrapes as she's been well loved, well played and well travelled! Nothing to affect sound or feel at all - just some small cosmetic scratches/nibbles that you'd expect from a bass this old. The finish is amazing and pretty eye arresting! The sound is huge - very tight and punchy with big bottom end, it's built like a tank and the neck is pretty slim too so plays nice and quick. Great tonal character and an amazing sounding bass. Bass Gallery in Camden valued her around £2,500 which was probably a touch steep in the current climate and considering the new cost but it's a special bass so open to offers but not looking for trades. She's gorgeous and it's hard to let go, but selling because it just sits on the studio wall most of the year round now as I'm producing more and playing less. --------------------------------------------------- Here's the info I got through from Sadowsky: Body Wood: Quilt Maple top on Ash Fingerboard: Maple Finish 59 Burst Hardware: Black Pickups: Bartolini Build Date: Dec 1995
4. Bought a BDPG off Pete, great to deal with and very efficient. Pleasure
5. Bought my Microsynth a little while back: very easy, very quick, very polite. Very awesome!
6. Great synth pedal, the newer smaller model - no power supply but good condition otherwise and gigged very little. Time to take it off the shelf and give it a good home! £160 posted or can come pick up in Central London
7. Bought a Microsynth of this guy - Legend! He texted me pictures of very slight marks on it, packaged it really well, it was a good price and was posted quickly. What more could you want?! Thanks!
8. I failed my grade 8 theory by 8 marks... then passed by 8 marks! Woop woop! As a quick question - what scales/technical exercises does Rockschool recommend for grade 8? I need some technical fodder (and the correct/best fingerings (although thats pretty subjective i guess!)) and dont wanna shell out for the book! Itd be cool if there was a 'Big book of bass scales and technical exercises' that was around to take you from utter begineer with scales to a pimp-ass scale-monster... and if it came with a free metronome... I can do like major and all the modes (and variants of the above), but need the 'next' thing to make me improve and to get me warmed up at the start of practicing. Cheers!
9.
Depends what sound you're after and how you play. A friend of mine owns my old Warwick Dolphin bolt-on through my old Ashdown combo and uses no eq- he gets a monster sound. Using the same gear with the same settings I sound ridiculous (as in bad); I have to eq a lot to get anything approaching that sound. I also wouldn't say it's the best gear for jazz when I'm playing through it but YMMV.
Erm.... what does YMMV mean?! I only use it on Jazz gigs when nothing else is around! Its mostly for the rock stuff. Theyre still pretty versatile though. Whats all this about them catching fire?
10. I gotta AMB EVO II n 1x15 ABM. Built like tanks (whats all this bursting into flame talk...?!) and the grindy valve kicks ass. I find the EQ a bit weird though. The low strings sound MASSIVE and beefy, while the top strings sound quite bright n twangy. Its fine for like R*CK gigs (all the lows) or slap (where the twang sounds sweeeeeet and the incoinsistancy in tone is a help) but for like jazz where you want even across the board it has this jump in tone. Maybe im just a bad EQer and shud put less of a curve on it, if you guys are saying they sound great with a flat EQ? Quarms aside it still gives a decent sound and kills for most gigs. Seeing as i invested in it i just wanna make it work! Its tough with an EQ on the bass, on the head (with those sliders too... hmmmm...), and on the PA - can make life interesting sometimes! Any thoughts? P.S. Mine hasnt spontaneously combusted yet.... Will it?!
11. ... but its a 4 string...? If only it was a 5; i rekon itd be snapped up instantly!
