  1. Examples of hot XLR outs I am aware of: Quilter bass amps The Polish ones I can't remember the name of off the top of my head. The GK combos with self powered extension cabs.
  2. Yeah, but how hot is your DI output? Not many are anything like Line Out which is meant to drive another power amp.
  3. Hopefully it works out. XLR is not all same thing. The 'DI' is labeled as line out which is way far hotter than a mic. The interface unit is expecting a mic so I wouldn't be surprised if it is distorted to hell.
  4. A handy trick with 900w Streamliners is to wire up your cabs to get a 16ohm load. Then you can push it and get the full output sag overdrive thing that was painstakingly engineered in without blowing anything up, including the patrons' hearing.
  5. TB has a photo of the back of the prototype. No pre / post on the LINE XLR out. I guess it will still be hell hot for the average mixer. Needs a pad as well as the pre / post.
  6. I do wonder if my Trace would sound better for adding some damping. It sure would suffer for the extra pounds when I can only just hoist it as it sits.
  7. Even you would give a pass to a HPF equipped preamp. Nobody called me a guitard for having a raft of pedals as it made things more interesting, mostly in a good way too I will have you know!
  8. Some Markbass 112 combo with matching 112 extension cab. Not strictly a "rehearsal room" as it was a rehearsal in a room that had a bunch of theatre seating. I'd say it gets used far more for rehearsals by the poyltech music dept than concerts, so I am claiming it.
  9. Throw a blanket over it. If that's not enough throw two blankets over it.
  10. He's sitting on his high horse lamenting that the view isn't really all that much better and dissuading the rest of us from his folly.
  11. You can buy really good plugs and a piece of cable and get change from 10 quid. Even better, you will know for sure it is wired properly for rejecting noise as best can. Once you have made one cable you will never buy another ready made.
  12. So he can use the amp to monitor instead of the PC speakers. I think the USB might be an input for play along on your combo? I dunno what you would get from a balanced mono DI going into a stereo audio input with a mono jack. DI isn't a hot signal as a rule. Worst that should happen is noisy. The correct way to wire it can be found here: https://www.ranecommercial.com/kb_article.php?article=2107
  13. I can see @Bluewine in sequins and stripes.
  14. The original had balanced XLR out. V2 has a balanced TRS 1/4". Maybe this one will have a level control, or less of a LINE out level that doesn't blow out the mixer, to go with XLR out.
  15. What's the US equivalent of Glam? Do cover bands make a specialty of doing the whole enchilada theatre like you fellas?
  16. Ya would think that but you would be wrong. Ever hear the story about little Johnny given a bass for his birthday? Pretty much that! All my experience prior was jamming with experienced folks at open mics playing on the residents' gear.
  17. What kind of psycho goes after musicians at 50 quid a pop? Shades of Mick Mason.
  18. I dunno about that. In my case I had a p!ssant practice amp that did me no favours when it came to a set of drums being involved. My first real amp was top notch gear as I had some savings and an offer of a well paying gig. One of the open mic hosts needed a bassist and I was well aware I was needing firepower.
  19. I reckon a drummer would have to be fair smashing his kit to drown out a late model Rumble 100. So it's a bit more than a practice amp.
  20. Generally speaking you would have to spend a bit more on a 8" to get the performance of a 10". That's why the Trace Elliot Elf 208 cab is such a pricey little monster.
  21. You will have set them to off when originally signing up as I did.
  22. I have them all off 365 and forgot they even existed. More posts less garbage per scroll. You could toggle them on once a month and get your fill before turning them off.
  23. Don't sweat it Horse. I couldn't quite see where he was joining wrong dots so thanks to you and Bill for patiently explaining it yet again. The old clipping kills speakers yarn puts another experienced nose out of joint.
