First impression was of woodworm. There is a school of thought that no two instruments age alike, and that it is possible that a real example looking exactly like this exists. But I doubt it.

I think a new board on a neck that already works for you is a risk and an expense too far. I had a fretless ebony board put on a Precision neck a while back and it never sang as well as it had with the old, albeit worn out, fretless rosewood board. I don't think it was a bad job, just that for some reason it changed the response of the instrument in a way I didn't really care for. It could have been the mass, density, depth or even simply the surface of the new board, but either way, I wish I'd left it as it was. Lovely looking neck all the same walbassist

Selling as I suspect I'm too much of a plug and play guy to have the patience to ever work well with something as gloriously versatile as this. I also hoped the kids might engage one day but frankly, it's a long way off! Currently on sale at Thomann for £1950 https://www.thomann....aha_s_70_xs.htm the sale price is over 50% down* especially when you factor in the very sturdy gig bag worth around £100 plus two Yamaha pedals. Reviews abound e.g., http://www.musicrada...ha-s70xs-253819 and http://www.keyboardm...eyboards/27587. In terms of functionality and performance, I can't really provide much more than that to be honest, but I'm assuming that if you're reading this you know what you're looking at. Trade wise a nice Precision always appeals, and I've only got the four at present so plenty of room. Acoustic instruments are always of interest (no bagpipes or lutes please). Happy to discuss terms.......... Cheers Chris * DISCLAIMER: I'm not suggesting Thomann are necessarily the cheapest

Halfway between marker pen and new board is wood dye; many DB boards are blonde but dyed to look like they're a darker (and more expensive) wood. Go careful!
Great amp (I had one when I first started playing bass and it was in no where near as good condition as this !) Buy from Chris with confidence and someone will get a real bargain !
Hey John, thanks for that mate. Played it last night and probably shouldn't have......... Hope all's well

Well...... I bought this about two months ago from my old trading partner and rather splendid bass player Jay Synchro, and haven't even got around to collecting it! I've got a new project coming up and am wanting to put some cash into a couple of acoustic instruments, and so am rather embarrassed to say that I'm selling this before I've even played it! I'm hoping Jay might send me the pics from the original listing which is here http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry3279921, but form many years experience I know that he looks after his gear very well so have no doubts it's 100%. You know the deal with these; phenomenal amps, even more so given their size and weight. Put one of these inside a much bigger cab and you'd be easily fooled into thinking you're hearing the bigger cab! No trades thanks, unless it's a pedal steel (not lap steel) or a very good resonator guitar, otherwise I really do need some cash for the project in question. And £600 is a decent price for this bloody good piece of kit Will post pics ASAP Cheers Chris
This looks to be in amazing condition for its age. I love these - I've just almost no use for it at all and the rational bit of me (the bit that I work hard, and frequently successfully, to suppress) is remaining firm...for now. Incredible price too in my opinion
Rational decision making is overrated Thanks mate, hope all's well Chris
