  1. If you think the phrase I mentioned is just guitar widdle and nothing to do expressive musicianship then ... then yeah MMVAF. At any rate, this is going down a youtubecommentudinous path, so I'll hush 😁
  2. How do we feel about influential rhythm guitarists like, say, Malcolm Young and James Hetfield?
  3. Within that "world of overdistorted rawk", my real admiration is for the guitarists who are able to exploit that sound to expand the expressive possibilities of tone and articulation. For, example, what's going on here in the phrase between 2'18" and 2'25" is quite beyond my understanding of how you get sounds out of an electric guitar, and he's still in total control, it's real mastery and musicianship.
  4. Given the role the bass typically takes, it would be more like "I'm no Kenny Sansom but....."
  5. Gah, well just so I can at least finish on something that fits the criteria, Ruby Red Metallic. And now I'll 🤐
  6. Ah understood, not daft at all. And in light of that, I vote shell pink 😬
  7. This just appeared on TB's BB thread. May I vote whatever this shade of white is called? (Alpine White? Snow White? Stamford Demographic White?)
  8. I remember going to Poland in the mid-90s, seeing people being served perfectly good pizzas and then squirting tomato ketchup all over them
  9. Oh, yeah, Django Reinhardt! In the 65 seconds from 1'45" here, such variety of tone and expression and articulation. Lovely
  10. My 424 sounds and feels like a Jazz?! 😜
  11. Love the look of maple + white pg + a bold colour
  12. This thread made me think of this advert.... sadly the bass is now sold. But, still, a nice indication of what's available. Jazz style Peavey
  13. Wouldn't complaints about the TB membership be more fruitfully placed on TB?
  14. Oh, I should have had that on my list, too. Frustratingly, I had really enjoyed "Dr Mabuse" on Now 3, but didn't get around to getting to know A Secret Wish for another 30 years. Ugh. ps I also knew of The Cure and The Smiths from early Now albums, so I really had no excuse
  15. Did you pop into Popolino while you were passing?
  16. I love Prince's guitar playing, but .... but he's a Fisher Price Chris Poland, no?
  17. The Yamaha TRB1004J is 35" scale. 40mm nut, two humcancelled single coil pickups, 3 band EQ Yamaha TRB range
  18. I like the punch, I'll stay happy with my 424. Still want it in white though.
  19. Some of his earlier singles I can still just about listen to, but the stuff on that album.... yeugh
  20. The gloomy mid 80s indie kid party pack
  21. ...and sometimes the guitarist just needs a little help...
  22. I'm perfectly content with my 424, but the knowledge that for just £5 more I could have had a 1024 is making me daydream a bit. I know that they make pretty similar sounds, but what would be the biggest tonal difference between the two? From the YouTube demos I've heard, the biggest difference is in the quality of the neck pickups soloed. I get the impression that the 1024's is the same style as the 424's but with a bit more liveliness and complexity. (On my 424 I find that I need both pickups together to make a satisfyingly complete sound.)
