  1. Ben bought a Joyo Orange Juice pedal from me. Fast, problem free deal, good comms - highly recommended!
  2. Apart from being made by D'Addario, 9050s and Chromes are very different
  3. This is a really rather marvellous problem to have!
  4. Great to hear from another VT1 user - you get what I mean about the great tone! The pedals you suggest sound great although I’m definitely looking for a DI as part of it. Anyone got recommendations for some of the newer, dare I say, tubeless units?
  5. I've used one of these for about 7 years now - studio and live, absolutely love the tone, both clean(ish) and drive. I'm doing lots of gigs lately where the backline is provided or shared with other bands, so finding im relying on the VT1 for a consistent sound to FOH. Whilst I can find no fault with the tone, some of the cons are starting to outweigh the pros: Valve sticking out just waiting to get broken, either in transit or worse still on stage Its own 12v power supply (thin cable). I know there are 12v options with multi supplies but most are quite low mA Quite big switches sticking out of the side - same problem as valve Has anyone who has used / heard a DHA got a recommendation for one of the other readily available Drive/EQ/DI boxes that wont be a radical change from the VT1 sound?
  6. Same here. I ran a few different rack Pre's with a QSC PLX 2402 without issues - damn loud and powerful actually! Never used it bridged. Don't have those Pre-amps anymore but used an Ashdown RPM, SWR Grand Prix and a gorgeous Aguilar DB680
  7. Many pros and cons but when I weight it all up I can only come to the conclusion that the 'digital revolution' has been something of a disaster for musicians.

  11. WITHDRAWN Great 'Hiwatt" style OD. Lower gain than the WiiO but plenty of drive on tap. Very interactive 3 band EQ. I've used this in front of an ABM to get tones ranging from Peter Hook to JJ Burnel style. Excellent condition, not much use. Hook side velcro on underside Boxed £90 posted UK only
  12. Tried the ABM 600 and still prefer my old 500 EVO II
  13. Jean Jaques Burnel for me. I'd heard lots before him but would never had said they had a particular sound or 'tone' that was so different. His sound and style hooked me from the off
  14. John bought my Epiphone Thunderbird Vintage Pro IV. Good comms, fast payment and a pleasure to deal with. Recommended!
  15. The Joyo British is an absolute belter and not just for Marshall style drive either. A really great all rounder.
  16. Used these since the late 70's - just the right amount of 'give' and a certain brightness that I don't get with others I've tried
  17. XTC Go 2. Every track is a belter. I never enjoyed them much after this, even if that was their 'prime'. I guess that for me, there was a hole in the sound after Barry Andrews left.
  18. I've never ever grown tired of listening to this from end to end. Runners up for me include: Damned Damned Damned Physical Graffiti Aladin Sane Ramones (first) Bollocks Shades of Blues - Don Rendell/Ian Carr Quintet
  19. Nearly but for me its one track too long, Radio bloody 4....
  20. **SOLD** Great T-Bird bass. Hardly played and in an Epiphone Hard Case. Stunning burst. Great sound and really fast, low action. Slim, thru neck. It has two tiny dings on the top rear edge. Trades considered are MIJ/CIJ or MIM Fenders or try me Blurb: The Epiphone Thunderbird Vintage PRO 4 string bass is a real powerhouse bass, offering slick design and monster low end bass tones, the Thunderbird is a bass for players who love to stand out. The Mahogany body is finished in a really cool Tobacco Sunburst, it’s well balanced and offers a super comfortable playing experience. It’s an iconic design and still catches the eye all these years after its initial 1963 release. The Mahogany/Walnut laminate neck boasts a 1960s rounded bass profile, a 34” scale length and a 12” radius. It’s a real joy to play and is more than just a rock machine, its smooth and versatile prefect for a wide range of styles. Loaded with Epiphone ProBucker bass humbuckers the Thunderbird delivers a serious low end groove. Rocking the signature pickguard logo and 60s style tune-o-matic bridge and claw tailpiece, this is one cool bass.
  21. Pick, picking hand palm mute, gain and treble up a touch - plenty of pick presence and punch in the guts bottom end. Instant Wrecking Crew, more so with flats.
  22. Try Solovair - Like buying a pair of 70's DM's. I think they bought the original plant or something
  23. Currently using (again) my Joyo British Sound. Cheap and pink! Does the lower gain stuff well as well as Lemmy style drive. Always keeps the bottom end and the mid control combined with the voice gives me a wide range of very usable sounds. Might not work for everyone and as usual, its only one factor along with bass, strings, pick/fingers, amp etc. Its certainly not just a "Marshall in a box" sound
