  1. You can see it’s quarter sawn from the grain on the back of the headstock. Just like my CS64 Jazz.
  2. I've got an EMG GZR Geezer Butler in one of my Precisions and its one of the best all round pickups I've used. Lots of mids and plenty of grind when using a pick. I wouldn't let the Geezer bit sway you one way or the other, its a great pickup. I believe they modelled it on an early 60's Precision PU
  3. Straight off the output transformer?
  4. Great DI on that amp - when I used one the sound guys always really liked it
  5. Doesn't sound right. I regularly use an ABM 500 and Berg 215 and it punches like a mule. Sounds like a typical festival/house backline issue and could have been: compressor on or turned up (will reduce output), shape button engaged (no mids), EQ disengaged (big vol drop) or a horrible mixture of these issues. Maybe, dare I say, shagged out gear.
  6. Great amps, especially at this price! I've kept my UK made EVO II having tried and moved on, the III and IV. Bomb proof, great sound and easily serviced by the manufacturer
  7. Agreed but I also find that on lower drive settings it tends to take off any top end sheen
  8. The Joyo British works well for me. I don’t try and get a Marshall sound, just an all round good OD. There’s lots of interaction between the gain, character and mid controls plus the obvious variations of your amp and bass/playing style.
  9. **SOLD** Fantastic and powerful QSC class H power amp. As pictures, in a very good condition 4U Spider Flightcase (not willing to split) QSC Specs: Stereo (either/both channel) 8ohm 425w 4ohm 700w 2ohm 1200w Bridge Mono 16ohm 850w 8ohm 1500w 4ohm 2400w Tech info here: https://www.qsc.com/resource-files/productresources/amp/discontinued/plx/q_amp_plxspec_specs.pdf Case Size Ext Dims: w530mm x d510mm x h214mm Int Dims: W19" x D360mm x H180mm (4u) Fully working no probs at all. A few rack rashes (see unpacked pics) Now £220 collected from TN19 Will courier for £15 (UK only)
  10. SOLD Studio quality EQ DI. The clarity and control over your sound is unbelievable. 9v or Phantom power. 1/4" out and DI The HPF and LPF are particularly effective when going to FOH or tracking. As new condition, boxed with manual etc. £220 posted UK only
  11. Yep, or run Sansamp (or other DI/EQ/drive into the provided amps FX return - something I’m having to do a lot these days due to shared rigs and using provided backline
  12. I can’t fault any Ashdown ABM head. Also consider a valve pre like a DHA if you can find one.
  13. Got any suggestions for someone who works on pedals?
  14. Still rate my DHA VT1 DI EQ. Really hard to improve on the sound of that one for me.
  15. Tech 21 Q/Strip is very clean
  16. UK Subs Paul Slack - Antigua Jazz and Jon Watsons 999 stickered Jazz. Both sounded great and the very few pictures that I saw of these two in the music press at the time made me drool after a Jazz bass
  17. Having looked at various other solutions, I'm currently putting a very small pedalboard pre/EQ/drive together - Q/Strip for the DI and EQ and probably a Barbershop (or similar) for the drive. Good to have an all in one solution but I can't find one I like enough. DHA sounds do take a lot of beating to my ears!
  18. Check the fretboard for the old 'ski ramp' - rise from 12th fret and up. They were prone to this
  19. I seem to remember that some of those Highway 1 bass's were really good
  20. He made some great stuff! Shouldn’t be too difficult to fix as they’re so well made.
  21. Fantastic EQ from the late 80's vintage 'Brown Series' of Japanese built Boss bass pedals. (Early 90's manufacturing moved to Taiwan) These are quite sought after, mainly due to the better EQ points (62Hz, 125Hz, 250Hz, 500Hz, 1kHz, 2kHz and 4Khz + level) than on the current model which has a huge gap between 800Hz and 4.5k This one has had a mod to cut out any hiss and the person who did this also replaced the LED with a blue one. The previous owner had this done and I believe it was a common mod with these. A quirk of these is that they work fine with 9v or 12v. The operating LED works with 9v battery and 12v adaptor. No LED with 9v adaptor but operates. Lots of forum/internet posts about this (usually people thinking the LED is broken). I've always used battery which lasts ages. Comes with the original box and is in very good condition with just a few small paint chips and a couple of cracked slider tips - these are on tight and don't fall off. £50 posted in UK
