They're not actually made by Kent Armstrong, they are a Kent Armstrong design made by "Sky Pickups" in Korea - hence the cheap price. Proper Kent Armstrong pickups are just as expensive as Barts and SDs, sometimes more so. They're good pickups all the same - I have a set of single coil Jazz vintage hot pickups in one of my basses and used to have a P bass with the vintage hot p-bass pickups in. That gave a real poweful output and a superb precision sound.

But I think the words, feel, soul, lack of and an uncanny knack to cultivate an ego the size of an aircraft hanger just doesn't make me warm to him one tiny iota.

Always been my amp of choice - I've tried some other rigs but always find myself coming back to Trace Elliot. Great for all styles of music, reliable and a great sound too - especially the early stuff. When they first came out they knocked spots off anything on the market IMO. The only other amp I'd consider would be an Ampeg SVT of some description.

One of their mum's used to play piano and they practiced in their front room. Talent doesn't come in to it mate. Its all subjective.

I saw them in 1983 at the old Marquee on London when Stuart Morrow was playing bass for them. Not really my cup of tea but it'd be a good gig to get. They play all over the place.

[/quote] Do what my singer's old band did back in the early 80s when they were booked for a 40 minute slot at the Skunx Club in Islington. They only had three songs so he came up with the brilliant plan of starting a fight after the third song. It worked like a charm and there was a full scale riot in the place with the police being called. Gig was cancelled and they got away with their credibility (partially) intact.

Punk was an always be a huge part of my life and my lifestyle. It defines who I am, the way I think and the way I live my life. They say necessity is the mother of invention, well at the time (76-77) its exactly what was needed. Granted there were some fantastic bands around at that time, but punk seemed to sum up the general feeling of resentment felt at the time (as did reggae). Most TV documentaries will have you believe punk died in 1978 which is a complete load of cobblers. By the 1980's it was probably at it most interesting time. All the posers, fakes and art-students had moved onto the next big trend and punk went underground. This was a time when some of the best punk bands came to the fore. So in answer to the question was the advent of punk a good or bad thing - in my opinion it was a natural reaction to the social and political situation as well the music around at the time. He'd worked with this drummer in the past on a number of occasions and on each occasion he'd be warned by all band members about his speeding up. He'd be drinking too which didn't help either. I reckon that on that night, my mate just wasn't taking any prisoners. He's usually a reasonably mild mannered bloke too. I'd be pissed off too if a repeatedly warned band member who liked a sherbert was taking absolutely no notice of the mistakes he was making despite repeatedly being told he was doing so. Apart from making himself look like a dickhead, he was making everyone else look stupid too, which, when you think about the time and effort they have all spent to practice on their instruments is just not on.
