  1. Pyramid headliners: Bruce Springsteen Alice In Chains Flaming Lips Other Stage Headliners Idles Rancid Future Islands Park Stage Headliners Tad Savages (ill persuade them to reform) Garbage
  2. I saw Blur headline Glastonbury several years ago. Couldn't even hear any bass due to the terrible sound
  3. Just looked on the social media this morning. Daily Mail and GB News (I follow neither) both have less than positive articles about Elton and then I made the mistake of looking at the comments which nearly all related to his sexuality and political views rather than music. I haven't watched any of his set yet, I watched QOTSA live last night, they were extremely good. I'll watch Elton later
  4. Apparatus Elton said to Josh Homme "have fun playing to four people" The man has a sense of humour. QOTSA are absolutely brilliant so far and there's at least twelve people. Maybe more
  5. Slowdive are really very good. Very spaced out shoegaze rock. Excellent set.
  6. It's getting really tight that is screwing with me. I don't ever play anything else where you play several bars in a row of just one note at solid quater notes and somehow I now find that difficult to play tight. The bridge with the octave jumps is just hard at the speed we play it, 180bpm. I've trued it with a pick and fingers but it's just hard to play eighth notes alternating between the A and G strings. I'm tempted to cheat and just play power chords!
  7. He's a bit of an old punk. Having the fanciest, most expensive instrument wouldn't suit him. I'm not convinced you'd even hear the difference between a Mexican P bass and the top level US P bass in a heavy rock mix anyway. No one other than a bassist would ever notice the difference anyway
  8. I'm about 15 miles from the Pilton Pop Festival site. I just went out in the garden and I can hear bass guitar and drums pretty clear tonight.
  9. Duff sings better than Axl. He's doing a great job and without Axl the band seem to have come alive. The TV Eye cover is great
  10. Axl keeps missing the first half of each line (lyrics, not the others). Just like the old days.
  11. The years have not been kind to GNR. Axl is terrible
  12. We've decided to add a couple covers to our set insurance original metal band. Easy set filler we thought so we worked out a stoner metal version of maniac from flashdance (an obvious choice) and a punky version of Paranoid by Sabbath. Paranoid is about as easy as it gets. Every beginner rock guitarist and bassist learns it so why the hell am I playing it so badly? It should be the easiest song in our set. Anyone else have trouble with a beginner standard tune?
  13. He's really good. Seems like part of the band already. Anyone who's going to drum for Dave Grohl has to be really good. I thought Daves daughter gave a pretty solid performance as well.
  14. Maybe they keep her quiet for a reason
  15. I've seen them a couple times. They're really good live. Benji can really get a crowd going.
  16. Not sure who I just watched, some pop group. The guitarist wasn't quite up to the job, he played the worst guitar solo I've heard in a long time. The whole solo sounded flat, possibly in the wrong key.
  17. Ricks were the bass of choice in the 90's indie and grunge bands and that sound seems to be coming back. Los Bitchos were excellent, bit punky and a bit grungy. No idea what their bass or guitars were, all weird things
  18. Eminem has been around Frome the last week. My daughter served him a burger, he was polite. Maybe he'll show up somewhere at the festival.
  19. Rock singers don't need a great voice. Lemmy was technically a bad singer but he was possibly the greatest front man ever
  20. That's a good idea. I want some special fungi
  21. I saw them on their first tour and they were amazing live. Watching them now on TV, they have lost that energy they used to have. I'll agree with your meh
  22. McCartney is there. Side of the stage watching Foo Fighters
  23. There are literally hundreds of food sellers and just about every type of food you can imagine. Buy some chips within a hundred yards of the pyramid field and you will pay an extortionate price for a small portion of terrible chips. Walk another 5 minutes and you'll get some amazing jerk chicken with rice and peas for less. There are so many food sellers that they're quite competitive away from the big stages
  24. I've seen them a few times and they're great BUT the three hour set with 45 minutes of acoustic material in the middle was too long and killed the energy in the middle of the set. They are one of the rock greats though up there with the very best. Was that Paul McCartney on the balcony above the stage?
