1.
that site doesnt work for me, stupidly slow and wont load full size pics link to neils board picture? [/quote Ditto...not the annoying large kind.
2. I always get props for playing 'Mountain song' by Janes Addiction. Last time I got a suprised (and bored) shop monkey saying 'Now thats a f**king riff...Ive not heard that in ages'
3. Howdy dude Have a bump. I can vouch for the bass. Great thump of a tone.
4.
Only when Comp.Cut is engaged. Great pedal - much cheaper from the US. Alex
I wouldnt agree. The boost is on all 3 settings on mine.
5. I remember buying one off of you toasted more than a few years back. Has been my main 'dirt' pedal since. The boost setting can be a wee bit overpowering sometimes but its all in the fun of being a drive pedal. Sounds great on guitar also.
6. Theres a fair few. Im sure basszilla has filled you in. Torche! Nice play.
7. Not exactly the same but kind of related, my bassman tube head is giving off a fair bit of hum. Im going to have it looked at and will post back what the score is.
8. Caught them in Swansea. Criminally, the place was so far from rammed that i was having a hard time counting the people there to watch from those who were in the support bands. F**king shame though they were beyond amazing.
9.
Right, i've been away for a bit finishing off my new board, and here it is:
Hows the headush working out for you?
10. Good sir...I stand and salute thee!
11. Im sure that unless they are musical dictators theyll be keen for you to influence them as much as theyll inevitably influence you.
12. I dont change my board when i switch between guitar and bass. In saying that, ive been through a lot of pedals because you do only learn from experience with gear IMO. Harmony central etc is only useful to a point.
13. Holy grail is awesome. Its pretty limited comparatively, but in a less can be more sense, aside from soundng great, its simplicity beats reverb units that have far too much to tweak IMO.
14. Anyone have any of these fabled grolsch gaskets going spare? Im a lover, not a drinker. My god im a cheapskate.
15.
personally speaking, if you want good service, low prices and freindly staff- DON'T LIVE IN LONDON!
Fantastic advice.
16. I ordered a CIJ 57 reissue with the US pups and all that jazz. I can agree with dood on the neck profile...wide and flat, which with small kid hands like me was a challenge at first but now i dont really think about it. If im honest, i really couldnt tell you that the wood makes a hell of a difference to the bass' sound or not since this was my first real 'big' bass outside of copies and no name basses. Im sure some with more travelled ears and bigger wallets will attest to the differences between woods used though. The pups were actually a lot better than i was expecting. Im not sure if they are actual US spec or just branded as such to suck in mugs with more money than sense, but i found them to be pretty warm sounding pups with plenty of clarity and thud (as you would expect from a P bass. Personally i had mine switched to SD quarter pounders as i play with more than a lot of OD/dist and the SD's carry a lot more mids to my ears. Thats not to say i disliked the stock US pups, They just didnt have the volume i needed. One thing i cannot stress though is to buy a badass bridge for it. It might be japanese but the bridge is still sh*t.
17. Im sure ill be corrected by someone more in the know but i always thought the muse sound was the result of a lot of tinkering with bass, amp and effects. So yeah, suppose its not something youre going to get exact from your own set up so just kind of run with it and try as many stompboxes as you can, youll probably come to find something (or a combination of pedals) thats right for you. Though if you do get picky about the sound, ive always gotten along with an EQ pedal to tweak to my hearts content.
18. I wouldnt even go for something like that, id go for something really dirty and cheap then youve lost nothing if its stolen/broken. You could just have a break from bass though. I had a couple of months break from it recently and found a lot of new ideas and inspirations came when i got back to it.
19. The Missus has one of these, after a bit of a tinker with the action and some new strings it was easily a bass you could mistake paying more for. I dont think yamahas get the love they deserve. Good luck with the sale.
20. I think its a bit of a bad time to be selling an amp (skint student, saving for holidays) though i would snap your hand off if i had the funds. Id keep it if it was mine. Have a bump though.
21. I used to run a US muff with EMG pups, didnt sound bad at all.
22.
Too much of anything is too much.
NEVER!!!
What's your interpretation of gain? Volume?
Dirty, balls to the wall death. There has to be more out there that get a kick out of unleashing hell on a 4 string.
