1. There was one on the for sale section not to long ago. I dont remember the price. I think ive got a nice enough rig now and for the sound I can get from it all, the NE-1 just doesn't fit anymore. If I was still using it in my signal chain it would be a space on my board I could fill with something else. If your looking for something to give you a lot of tonal options then I would say its a great piece of kit and worth having if you can find it cheap enough.
2. Just out of curiosity. What does the Mesa EQ box do?

Must haves

I guess for what you play then filters/synths/octavers and wah are going to be of great use. Maybe a little fuzz pedal perhaps. I suppose a drive pedal is handy if you play the odd rock song, something to grit up your sound and make it a little more attacking but if you want a really polished and slick tone a compression pedal would help even the signal out.
4. I haven't used mine in a long time but its basically a preamp from a Yamaha custom bass in a little box. I would say its aimed more at cutting mid from your tone. I bought mine since I didn't have a very good bass or amp and it beefed everything out a little. Its easy to use and doesnt take a long time to find a nice sound from it. But I dont think Yamaha make them anymore so not sure of prices or how easy they are to find.
5.
Haha..not a fan of Ibbies? I've got a couple of six strings and they're fantastic. One's a Les Paul type and the finish is amazing. Sounds great too - nice and warm.
No, Ive always associated them with w***y OTT solos, funk/jazz/rock fusion nonsense and cheap first 'instrument' syndrome. Hardly a brand bias I suppose, just think they are tacky and have bad memories of buying my first guitar. I appreciate their basses are of a different quality. I'm more of a Fender/Gibson man when it comes to guitars.
6.
That's guitarists for you. You tell them to back it off but will they listen?
Ibanez guitars are horrible and should be made illegal.
7. So do they 'write' songs about child molesters often?
8. Live safe in the knowledge id have the DHA from you, but im skint also. Bugger.
9. I have one of these, I let my former band mates keep a hold of it since i've no room for it and they've no bass amp. I always thought it was a great amp. I could get a variety of reasonably nice tones from it which betrayed the fact it had as much elegance as a tank. Its pretty loud but its built like a bomb shelter...and yes, its heavy haha. I think Peavey make some great amps. But do try your luck with working out a price. Its second hand so why not?
10. Cant comment on the EBS though it is held in high regard by a few peeps on here IIRC. The sans amp is pretty good. I think it takes awhile to really get to grips with and to know what settings to hold restraint on. I use mine to grit the sound of my Fulltone Bassdrive so its not quite so woolly and smooth.
11. Distortions/fuzzes/drives Maybe you should check the above from the Distortions thread
12. I can see my choice of next bass is set!
13. Lovely fella...lovely. Now for an amp!
14. I reckon (and it is a guess) but since that backline isn't actually the amps they use live, that hes running his bass is being blended through at least 2 amps behind the stage with one really distorted and the other not. Ive always found EMGs really receptive to a lot of distortion. Plus his 'clean' tone is pretty snappy as it is. That doesnt sound like any synth Ive heard, just a great distorted tone going through an expensive rig.
15. I did not so long ago, it sounded good even through a little combo in the shop. Ive had to stay away from that shop since. My card trembles and my overdraft sweats. I'm kinda torn between this and an all natural CIJ jazz bass as my next bass....the debate goes on!
16. Im led to believe the Behringer BDDI is a pretty good copy of the sansamp. Maybe worth picking up and saving a lot on the sansamp.
17. That looks the t*ts...if you pardon my french. Lovely looking basses.
18. Ive seen a few pic of his board from the recordings and it looks like he was using a line6 distorton/OD modeller (the gold one...the name escapes me now) Though that bass does sound like a blended tone as the low end is pretty tight.
19.
Yea, the point is an amazing venue Great sound crew there.
One of the best venues ive ever been to. Great looking bass.
20. Those Orville Customs are sweet looking though.
21. Shame youre in oz, I think some of us might of had a scrap for this. Have a bump
22. I saw them years ago before the first record was released. His sound dwarfed the guitarist, who was'nt so quiet himself.
23. Id go for Nickels too if you are switching/testing, or just stay with DR's. They do last a long time.
