1.
Which manual Alex? I asked here because there are a lot of enthusiastic users and I know you are always run off your feet trying to keep up with demand! I always have the limiter on, the clip/pad light doesn't come on. The Jazz sounds marvellous through it, as does the Lakland. Tonight the P pup will be attacked with measuring stick and screwdriver, but really it's going to be Sat night before I can gig-experiment. Absolutely pointless in the little spare bedroom. I am starting to think a combination of pup adjustment and using the gain/master differently to how GK suggest in the handbook may bring about a solution. For a long time gig volume on previous amps was achieved by setting gain to just clip, backing off a touch then setting master, but this is not what the GK handbook recommends. Finally, we were playing the Fox and Goose in Southport on Saturday night, when I was struggling. For the first time in the 30+ gigs I have used this, a young bass player wandered over at the end and said "Is that a Super 12". "Yes" beamed I. "Sounds great" sayeth he. "Cheers" sayeth I. 5 minutes later the drummer berated me for being a bitching old git.
T'was me in the Fox and Goose in Southport! From what I remember the bass was very audible in the mix but out front I reckon less low mids and some more treble would've improved the tone. That of course is only to my preferences! The tone was nice and growly though, very much a P sound, and every note came through clearly in your fills. I only got to the bar later on too so this must've been when you weren't going through the PA, so it was very impressive it being so audible. If you have a long enough guitar lead maybe try standing in front of the stage when you sound check so you can hear what you sound like in the mix properly? The stage/sound in general of that bar isn't great. The stage is small but hollow so it's pretty hard to avoid boominess. I've had decent results putting my amp on the side of the stage directly on the floor (have to keep an eye out for drunken dancers though!), or maybe try an amp stand or isolation pad thingy-ma-jig. All in all the experiences i've had/heard with Barefaced have all been positive, i'll have to get myself one!
  2. You mention the Ashdown LB only being 30w, but I wouldn't rule the brand out entirely. Ashdown have 15w, 30w, 100w, 200w, 300w, 400w, and 427w valve heads...

  7. DAMN! I was looking for one of these as well... Can I have second dibs if the sale doesn't go through?
  8. Bought from our very own 'thumperbob_2002', i have owned this pedal for a year and a half and it has been on my pedalboard since then. The original thread is here: http://basschat.co.u...__fromsearch__1 Perfect pedal for getting a tube like tone out of your modern rig, or recording in a simple and great sounding fashion, or DI'ing straight into a PA.... or any combination of the above... This is the deluxe version of the pedal so you get 6 programmable channels to play with, along with an effects loop that can be turned on or off by command. I personally used it to blend a little bit of extra low end and tube grit into my clean jazz bass tone and ran into the PA/Hartke rig. I have since bought a tube amp which does this for me so this is now surplus to requirements!. Here is what sansamp have to say about the pedal: For bassists who like to switch it up on stage, the SansAmp Bass Driver Deluxe is the ultimate live tool for the bass-hopping, preset-stomping player. The Deluxe is all about fast delivery of monster Tech 21 bass tones in the fray of a live performance. Dual inputs enable two instruments to be on-line and ready to go with a pop-free selector. You can program three custom tones for each input, or use all six for a single instrument. You can also program the FX loop to engage your favorite effect with a particular setting and the Deluxe will bring it every time that preset is selected. The fat, funky tones of the SansAmp Bass Driver series are legendary. With an all-analog signal path, two inputs, six presets, a programmable effect loop, and parallel/tuner out, the stage-optimized Deluxe is all that with cheese and pickles. Gig with a SansAmp Bass Driver running it directly through the house PA without using a separate amp. Set-up with a SansAmp Bass Driver, power amp and speaker cabinet, and simultaneously run directly through the house PA for planet-dominating sound. Operable with a 9V alkaline battery, optional Tech 21 DC2 power supply, and via phantom power. Cheers
  9. Bought from our very own 'basskit_case' i have owned this cabinet for only a few months and has mainly seen home practice/a few recording sessions since then. It is the perfect compadre for a little bastard head, making a portable rig that can be carried in one load! Here is the original for sale thread: http://basschat.co.u...__fromsearch__1 Although the factory specs (listed below) say the cabinet is 9kg, my bathroom scales say 14.8kg. All other information is correct. Ashdown LB-112 main features include:

Power Output (RMS) 150W
Speaker Configuration 1 x 12
Impedance 8 Ohms
H x W x D (mm) 390 x 470 x 290
Weight (kg) 9
H x W x D (inc. feet) 410 x 470 x 290 (mm)
Celestion 12" Speaker
Selling it on for what I paid for it - £150 posted (in the original box) Cheers
  10. One thing to note is that drivers in bass amps have a limited high frequency response. In other words, there is a high frequency roll off so the hiss you are hearing wouldn't come through the amp itself, which may be why you haven't heard it before. Or maybe it's just the hiss from the pre-amps in your interface?
  11. I hate to state obvious here, but have you tried adjusting the input gain in guitar rig? EDIT: I re-read and saw that you did.... Are you running anything else in the guitar rig software or just recording the clean signal from your amp?

  15. I have one of these, it's brilliant for a simple bi-amp rig. BUMP for a cracking amp. x
