1. Spa towns are notorious for electrics. Maybe a friendly guitar shop chap might be able to assist?
2. http://www.gak.co.uk/en/electro-harmonix-micro-q-tron/1787 £54 but its not relic'ed and thats worth a little extra. No-one wants shiny new stuff any more these days.
3. If its not true bypass, maybe the original swith is a momentary, which triggers a transistor switch on the pcb. If this electronics has gone wrong then a new switch will not help. Where are you based?
4. Leave the original coating on as the sealer/undercoat. Light sanding all over to key the surface, quick wipe with a rag and some white spirit to remove any dust, then spray away.
5. More mids will help, but adding some of the clean signal back in will be a better solution.
6. Post-jubilee depressed back-to-work bump
7. god bless you MB1 and all who sail with you
8. Essentials : in this order... Tuner chorus overdrive compressor envelope/auto wah/dr Q/bassballs, etc.
9. great work, great project! pm sent
10. Did I mention this is a special jubilee edition fx pedal? (well it will be as soon as I've drawn a small union jack on the base plate)
11. Theres a lot of stuff in my life I don't need, but I still want :]
12. I thought thats whty Fender devised the Squier series, so you could have a cost-effective backup bass in case of your main beast going lame.
13. monday bump - still up for grabs, the fuzzlicious square wave destruction box that is the Fuzz Factor -y
14. Heres a quick demo, a couple of sound samples thru a boss loopstation showing the harmonic exciter (changed the box graphics a bit) sadly the camera mic compresses a lot of bass so you don't get a great feel for the full qualities of this pedal. Simplest I can explain is when you switch it off the sound sounds like its gone from stereo to mono http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aB6wOlTqYRw
15.
looks nice, how come you left all the cables so long?
not finished yet, waiting on TL071 chip to replace the LM741, then will shove in the dc socket and trim all to fit
16. but you do get a new £150 hard case with it!
17. Haa- thats one of those ebay mad flashing pre-wired jobbies surrounded by a plastic nylon washer which creates a mysterious aura of purple/red/orange when you step on the pedal
18. This is a little gem - Madbean's take on the BBE Sonic Stomp pedal, the 'Bloviator' - a harmonic exciter, adds depth, warmth, presence to everything, for guitar and bass (though only tried on guitar so far) Not much db boost just enhances the highs and lows without scooping the mids. Its a powerful effect but also quite subtle, and when you turn it off everything sounds sad, flat and thin. Great for really enhancing modulation fx too. Can I also say the Madbean PCB's are superb and make soldering onto a small crowded space a real pleasure. Worked first time no nonsense. Will get some sound clips posted up with bass after the weekend.
19.
I have no scientific research at all to back this up, but a guitar tech I know asked me this question when I spoke to him about my sticky neck issues. Apparently he was veggie for a while and his sweat increased in acidity, and he knows a few guitarists who are veggie all of whom have acidic sweat. I'd be interested if you can back this up with science though Al!
Apologies for o/t, my extensive research shows sweat is at the normal skin pH which is 5.5 - 6.5, ie: very slightly acidic. Although diet can affect pungency of sweat (esp. onions, chillis, garlic) it has no discernible effect on pH. Incidentally if you wash your hands too much with soap which is on the alkaline side, ( normally 8 or 9) this interferes with the skins natual slight acid pH and leads to dry skin issues, but not rusty strings.
20. http://tagboardeffects.blogspot.co.uk/2011/04/klon-buffer.html This is a great site for veroboard layouts - heres the klon buffer layout, checkout all the zvex pedals
21. i'm intrigued by this suggested link between vegetarianism and sweat pH. I'm off to research further.
22. unity buffer with no gain increase -> http://www.beavisaudio.com/techpages/Buffers/ i made an 071 op amp buffer recently on vero, theres plenty of schematics around, works fine and noiseless on battery or 9v dc
23. truly gorgeous. I clicked the Add to Basket button, now its MINE! Mwuhhhaaaaaahhh!
24. small clone is a great bass-friendly circuit, really lush analog chorus and nicely moddable
25. green scotchbrite pads very gently remove sticky residues from a neck, I'd be very sparing with any wax on a neck.
