  1. I'm a DB newbie (about 8 months in). One point my teacher made fairly early is that I was plucking the strings too hard. I guess I wanted to be Paul Chambers in a hurry. Once I eased off on the right hand a bit my ability to play for longer increased substantially. Just a thought. The DB is a wonderful thing .. glad you've started the journey
  2. For sale or trade (for a decent French grip bow). I've decided French grip suits me best so these two bows are surplus to requirements. The cheaper one (£50) has no maker's stamp, but is wooden (I honestly can't say if it's brazilwood or pernambuco, but it's clearly not a high-end bow). The better bow (IMO) is stamped Guasti & Bottoni (some stuff online) and has lovely pearl inlays and is pernambuco. I'm asking £100 for this. The only issue with this bow is a part of the small white piece of plastic at the tip is missing. I'd generally expect people to want to try bows before they buy them and that's possible in Somerset (TA11) or London (EC2Y), although I'm in Somerset more than London. If you need dimensions, weight etc please let me know. I'd really like to exchange one or both of these for a French bow, so if you're up for that please let me know, thanks
  3. Great condition head which is about 1.5 years old and has never been gigged (sadly). Has 2x TonePrint channels allowing you to download TC Electronics compressor etc. I can mail this at buyer's cost or collect (ideally) from South Somerset or London by arrangement. NB: the Barefaced cab is sold, sorry.

  4. I think I owned this for a while…. Incredible bass. Hands down the most handsome P I ever laid my hands on.
  5. This is the best condition example in the world …. ….. because they’ve examined all the others.
  6. Owen, I have another almost identical Italia strap I bought from you. Do you want that one?
  7. My understanding is that Fender employed an Australian at its plant in the early 1990s. ‘Skip’ Arthur always attached his neck plates upside down as a subtle tribute to his homeland. Either that or my tech put it back the wrong way when he adjusted the truss and I didn’t notice.
  8. I don’t to be honest. London, yes, but seldom north of Watford. Courier?
  9. Er, no it hasn’t. Just regular black tolex. But thanks for the feedback.
  10. I’ve been asked about the weight and it’s 3.9kg according to the kitchen scales. I’ve also been asked about condition of the frets which are in great shape. I’ve attached a picture of frets 1 and 2 for reference, thanks
  11. As far as I know it is, but I haven’t owned it since new. Everything looks to be the same vintage (pun intended).
  12. For sale a Barefaced Super Compact cab and a BH500 head. The price (£630) is for the head and cab, but I'm willing to sell separately. I'd be looking for £420for the cab and £210 for the head. Someone is going to ask me which generation the cab is. Apologies, but I'm not sure (is there an easy way to tell?). All I can say is that it's in great nick and there are no tears in the tolex. A few marks on the front grille, but otherwise a very tidy, clean and (natch) great sounding cab. I'm sure most people on this forum know exactly what this is, but Barefaced's own breathless advertising copy says this: Why you need the Super Compact: It does gorgeous smooth clean bright tones, thick tight mid-punchy tones, huge deep bottom-heavy tones, aggressive growly grindy dirty tones and more, and can play LOUD. From subtly amplifying your acoustic bass guitar with natural clarity at coffee-shop gigs to thundering out your drop-tuned P-bass and FX pedals in a loud sweaty rocker's pub. Feels small when you pick it up, BIG when you plug it in! The BH550 was bought new by me and has had light home use. Neither the head nor the cab have been gigged unless you count that thing at the village hall. I'll throw in a speaker cable if the cab and head go to the same home. Any questions please ask, thanks.
  13. For sale an AVRI '62 jazz bass from 1992. I bought the bass from another player because I love this colour combination and this particular bass has some wonderful mojo. Not the artificial kind - the real, played a lot, lived a lot kind. There's an indent above the rear pickup where someone's thumbnail has sat for gig after gig. There's a belt rash patch on the rear and a fine selection of dings on the bottom edge. The bass itself feels and plays brilliantly. The pups are loud and expressive and the lovely, dark fingerboard feels effortless. The bass is wearing Thomastik Infeld flats and I'm including a lovely soft Italia strap. The hardcase is not a Fender case, but is sturdy and in good shape. This was the bass - to use the cliche - I thought I'd never sell, but I've discovered DB and don't want to play anything else (until I do and will have to buy another electric. Sigh). Serial number is V059014. The bass is in South Somerset, but I do come up to London fairly frequently so I could bring it to the big smoke. Obviously I'd prefer the buyer to try it before they collect it, but if that's impossible I'm open to the idea of getting a bass box and letting them organise a courier collection. This really is a lovely bass, hope someone gives her a good home.
  14. Yes, my thoughts exactly.
  15. Gorgeous neck! Absolutely love the look of this...
  16. No, I think you’re right

Nature of said work appears alarming judging by the photos. Still, it’s only £4k (starting price).
  18. Fantastic acoustic bass amp. Full details on the Double bass/EUB for sale page.
