1.
Chris I flogged my CD BT 1 MkII to get the Boss Micro br..... ABSOLUTELY the right move my basses sunded aneamic thru teh Tascam but with good headphones the Micro is spot on..... puls it has effects and does all the stuff the Tascam does PLUS 4 track recorder............ No brainer......
can it "remove" the Bass from a mp3 you're playing back? That's the only question I have about it as it appears to be aimed at guitar players in the literature.
 2.
I use the recently acquired Tascam MP-GT1. It's been a godsend.
I'm waiting for them to make a Bass version. It's been rumoured they are... If they don't come up with one by Christmas, then I'll be getting the Boss Micro BR instead. Hmmm, might just get that one anyway just for the recording functions. Currently, I use my Peavey Max 126 with headphones for practicing with. I plug my MP3 player or PC into the CD in. (using the PC I can slow down and loop passages)
 3. it would be nice if they posted a little heads up when the BGM magazine hits the shops...
 4. could have been worse... could have been a bid on a picture of a Fodera Bass...
 5.
You see these a lot on vintage Fenders but I still for the life of me can't see the point of them (aside from the obvious damage protection). Is there another blindingly obvious reason for them? They'd get on my bloody nerves tbh.
apparently they were put over the pickups to reduce electrical noise... on early models there's a small bit of wire that comes up from the pickup and is trapped between the cover and the body. The bridge ones also had a wodge of rubber to mute the strings with.
 6.
Go and do the job. When you get home make sure you put an hour aside for structured practice. You'll probably accomplish 10x more than you would in a day's worth of nooding in your bedroom.
if you do it that way, you'll be too tired to practice properly when you get in... too tempted to just let it slide... instead, just get up an hour earlier and get the practice in before going to work... then you'll be alert for the practice... and when you get in from work, you'll be entitled to rest and not feel guilty about letting another practice session slide...
 7.
Here's one on the bay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BASS-GUITAR-Fender-P...1QQcmdZViewItem But is it really as old as it's claimed?
that looks totally weird... the headstock is too large for a full size P-Bass anyway... looks to me like an Encore 3/4 size crappo Bass that's had someone scrawl an end code on the neck and slap a Fender decal on the headstock...

 9.
I think there a few anomolies with your maths. Assuming that the class of '75 left school at the age of 16, or possible 18, they would now be closer to 50 than 30s - 40s. However by now they could well have a greater disposable income, as children may well have left home and consequently in a position to splash out. Also at that time there really was only Fender, Rick and Gibson of which Fender was the acknowledged brand leader. I also disagree about the class of '75 making these documentaries. Far more likely to be the class of '85. If I wanted to buy a Fender of my youth I'd need to remortgage the house.
I am "class of '75" , just turned 50 this year. Got my A levels in Summer of '75... Can I afford a Fender of that period? No... I can't even afford a new Fender right now... the Fender fund is growing slowly (approx £50 a month)... the problem comes when there's enough... which one to buy...
 10.
This legislation is cause for concern. It was in the news this week with the last night of the proms being too loud with all those people singing Land Of Hope And Glory. It could see the return of the dreaded volume cut outs! For the younger members these were very popular at lots of venues and had an orange light that came on if the volume was too loud and the power cut out if the light stayed on for too long. At some venues a rimshot on the drums was enough to cut the power and I cut the power at one venue tuning up with harmonics.
apparently The Who were tripping the cut-out the other night when they played Swansea. 11. mine arrived fine on Friday... Warwickhunt had removed the neck and seriously bubble-wrapped everything before encasing it in cardboard and with a cardboard tube added for stiffening... no damage from parcelforce... just the hassle of finding which person in the block of flats had taken it in... (my daughter had not been awake when it was delivered)
 12.
This was interesting... http://www.myhometheater.homestead.com/splcalculator.html I have a potential 127dB SPL at 6 feet away from my speakers! Dropping output power from 480 Watts to 200 Watts only reduces SPL to 123dB Think I might need to turn down a notch or two!
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/4363832.stm there's gonna be some grief when it comes in... perhaps then we could be heard at the bar... but then again, there is existing legislation which should be applied now... The general rule of thumb is that if you find yourselves shouting to be heard in conversation at a distance of one meter then the ambient level is too loud and you should be wearing ear protection
 13. here's a link http://www.geocities.com/charlesarms/ the one above appears to be competent... I'm pretty sure I found a professional one somewhere hosted by Bassplayer, but that one is refusing to load... there are one or two very scary "guides" out there... some with chisels being used to remove the frets... there is a sticky thread about it over at TalkBass ducks... wonder if we have one... hmmm we need one... perhaps this could be stickied?
 14.
I went to their shop in Bath. It was heaven - they made an offer on my Kustom Charger, but I hadn't had it long at that point. 19. I'm worried now... warwickhunt should be sending me a Bass this week when and if he gets the letter with the money in it... I know we've all heard the jokes where mail labeled "Photos Do Not Bend" have arrived bent in two with "yes they do" scrawled on them and "Fragile Glass" has arrived all broken with the note "yes it really is" written on it... I'm beginning to suspect the workers do not give a flying fig as they know it can't actually be traced back to them for them to be held responsible... they can always blame the machines or say it was like that when it got to their stage... Think it's time for someone like Which to do a reliability study of the various options for large items... especially relevant as so many people are now shopping via the internet...
 20.
This is one of the complaints I have with Badass bridges - the bridge base plate is so much thicker than on a standard Fender bridge that it raises the string height significantly.
don't new Badass bridges come with the correct thickness shim for this very reason? anyway, shimming isn't really hard... 22.
I feel the need for a really Fender sounding bass to compliment my Ibanez gear.... The trouble is I like the Precision sound *and* the Jazz sound. For Jazz I love the *growl* and for Precision I love the *deep clank* As to necks I really like the Jazz neck better... Budget would be no more than £600 or so new... Of course, maybe the Fender sound is better from someone elses brand ;-) Any thoughts please...
get a Squier P special with P and J pickups... and stick a jazz neck on it... 23. I've knocked up a trial ramp for my P-bass clone... I used a piece of basswood from hobbycraft and trimmed it to fit between the pickup and neck. I've attached it with double sided sellotape... I'll be making a trial ramp for my peavey next month, but that one I want to be from clear perspex or acrylic as I want to see the flame maple veneer finish beneath. Not sure how to fix that one as the double sided tape isn't clear...
Saying that though, I don't like the distortion/overdrive sound at all and not too keen on the synth sounds either (the tracking is poor too IMHO).
yes, the synth and octaver have trouble tracking below an A on the low E string... I'd hate to think what it would be like on a B string... I just like the default Mo'Soul (patch C6), Trace (B3), Tube (B7), Little Muddy (D1), & In your fingers (C9) patches... I copied them all down to the A bank for ease of se;
