1. Because it's nice to have nice things.
2. Never done in but lots of online instances of people doing it without problem. Finding an ext cab for less that £500 not so easy.
3. Whilst on the subject can someone recommned me a sack barrow?
4. That is really very cool
5. I use the dr black ones, I'm not 100% sure how it works, but it's something along the lines or skin cells, grease and grime getting into the string. Using a pick all the parts you touch, and 95% of the string remains coated, so I suspect retains it's zing. Strings sound fine to me, even where really battered.
6.
Why don't coated bass strings retain their coating when you play them with a pick? There are coated guitar strings available and nearly every guitarist uses a pick and you don't hear of any problems with them.
I use coated on guitar and they lose the covering pretty quickly when using a pick, I think it's just accepted.

Valve bass!

Thats a great idea, but it needs perpex so that you can see the valve glow!
8. Just to say I have one, it's awsome
9. me too!
10.
I would never have accepted that mate. Stand up for yourself.
Well it crossed my mind, but in reality the chap had all the power, he had the knobs and could have made sure the sound was terrible if I'd have had a pop - we're just starting out and we'd quite like to be invited back to places so untill we have people turning up to a venue to see us I'll back down. I don't really have a problem standing up for myself, quite the opposite tbh, but y'know pick yer battles.
11.
I take it that most of you posting here are talking about original act's? When I was playing in an original act, we had our own sound engineer that we took from venue to venue..... most of the other serious bands we were playing with done the same... and most venues accepted that this was the norm.
Not the pits I play!
12. My last gig I dragged my Mesa Boogie walkabout to the gig, only to be told I was going to be going straight into the PA via the house DI box, Can I not use the D.I. on my amp? No, How's about the D.I. on the micro bass on my pedal board that I'm using anyway? No. So in the end my chain was bass->microbass->House DI->Amp for on stage monitoring (I didn't get my own monitor). The sadest thing is my partner reckoned my bass sounded better than usual . Though i put that down to all the practice innit.
13.
I cannot recommend this site enough for anyone doing any maintenance on Rickenbackers: Joey's Bass Notes (In the maintenance section under Rickenbackers.) It's got all the information you need and it's correct.
Thankyou!
14. That is a VERY good price. This would be mine by now (I said this last time it was for sale) if I didn't already have one, and even then am still drawn like a month to a flame.
15. I will! Oh and yes, I'm the guy in the background of that picture (with the bass), not the skinny one with Uke, I need to change that picture.

bazz fuzz

Depends if you are selling it (then don't trade off the name), or showing it off, in which case reference it in some cool way.

If there is no patent then it's (legally) ok to clone, if any of the makers came up with something really innovative they’d be able to obtain a patent for it. Can’t copyright a circuit board (I’m pretty sure) Can’t use the trademarked name mind. Yes, don’t make a tonne of them, give them the same name and try to flog them off on the cheap (though if your manufacturing process is able to produce cheaper products then all props to you). Hell, if I had enough skill I’d try and clone a Fender Jazz and make one myself,
18. You did the right thing

I'm recording

I left my old ones on, reasoning that it wasn't worth changing and taking the risk. Glad I did, the recordings sounded really good (to my ears), The engineer did a great job, basically using a Joe Meek compressor, my EBS preamp, straight D.I. and an Ashdown mic'd and cranked in various combinations, when I have the finished artcile, which'll be a while I'll post on here.
