2.
Slash's Gibson isn't a genuine Gibson but it has the Gibson badge on the headstock. Gibson don't mind at all and have given him a signature Gibson which he doesn't use. There isn't a point to this post - I just wanted to see how many times I could get Gibson into one post.
I never knew that! You'd have thought by now he could afford a proper one
 3. It's a stunning looking bass, can't get my head around replica though - would be better with no logos.
 4.
the #8 neck is a peach but its not going to be on an L2500. I cant speak about the build quality, action, fit and finish on the Tribute models but the electronics are the same as those on the USA ASAT/L2k and 2500 and they really are great-the permutations are mind boggling but easy to get round. In passive mode with the middle switch in series and the front one on neck pickup it does a great P-bass,likewise I can get close to the sounds of a Jazz and a Stingray with a couple of switch throws.another feature is the fact that if your battery goes down it plays fine in passive mode.I think the G&L passive treble and bass system is neat too and I like the fact you can lock up the hefty saddles within the big meaty bridge once set. and imo the G&L MFD pickups sound more full on and ballsy than just about any others I've heard I know that nig on these boards has both a L2500 and an L5500 for sale if your heart desires a USA model DJ
Yeah, what he said :-)
 5. I have a US ASAT, which has the same electronics (I think). Good range of sounds, well built, but as above, my bass is very heavy and the neck is very deep, though, not that wide (it's a #8 neck I think). I'm guessing the L2500 will be the same or similar. I love it however, the neck feels very nice to me and the weight isn't THAT bad.

 7.
Tax & duty, which is about 22%, is payable on the total price inc. delivery. There's some on German Ebay for a bit more: shop on ebay.de
Thanks, I'm going to go for this, Al Embric recommended the brand and that’s good enough for me.
 8.
How much would shipping and taxes be?
Ah posted too slow
 9. This is exactly what I'm GAS'ing for right now, but I'm out of the country for weeks and weeks. Shame.
 10. It's a lotto, I imported a box full of electronics, fully marked up with all proper documents on the outside, and didn't pay anything.

 12.
Hi doctorbass, I'm a tutor based in West London and I specialise in teaching fingerstyle technique. Please feel free to contact me at bassist [at] fastmail [dot] fm Steve
Whereabouts in West London?
 13.
I'm confused
hubba hubba Back to bass! erm, it doesn't really need to be a fretless, but I've already got 2 fretted and I thought it might be a good time to learn some intonation skills. I think my new plan is to shuttle over to New York and buy something whilst I'm there and take my chances getting it back into the UK in one piece.
 14.
Wow! Bermuda, nice work if you can get it!
Ha, yeah a lot of people have said that. Actually, it's not meant to be all that hot, well it's very hot. But not much to do there: One or two cinemas, a nightclub. 6 weeks is a long time to spend locked up in an apartment because it’s either 50 degrees outside or midst hurricane. I’m not really complaining!
 15.
I wonder if anyone's ever asked him for sound clips?
Hmm actually I just saw some harmony central reviews. I don't think I'll bother!
 16. Has anyone got any opinions on Riverside basses? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Riverside-Silent-Fre...1QQcmdZViewItem Long story short, I'm being sent to Bermuda in 2 weeks with work for 6 weeks and I don't want to be without an instrument. So something cheap and light and well, not total rubbish is in order. Apparently it’s way too expensive over there to consider buying, though you can get to the US for a hundred quid and 2 hours flight.
 17.
agreed.the ksd is very marcus sounding....but thats the kinda tone i fancy for a change.just sold a custon built g&l asat to fund it.also the price i'm paying for the ksd theres change a plenty from £700........
I bought that custom G&L and am very happy about it, thanks Al.
 18. Good link! I just bought a US ASAT from al embic (from this site) and wish I'd had been able to here the electronics beforehand, not that it matters because it sounds great anyway.
