1.
I've got the 7 string version of the S540, from '91 - mine unaltered would go for about £650. Do you know what year yours is? Have a look on www.ibanezregister.com, might give you a better idea.
Ah ok, I'll have a look. There's actually one selling on ebay right now which is the exact same except purple not black. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...A:IT&ih=018 I'm watching intently
2. After digging around I've found that the guitar is an "Ibanez S540 LTD", still can't find secondhand prices for it though.
3. That was very interesting , thanks for posting.
4. My tutor (who comes on this board) has me muting the strings with my thumb, and moving my whole hand going up and down the strings, so not placing any fingers on the pcikups or owlt. Kinda floating. It feels pretty good, and the muting is taken care of without thinking. Using strict finger alternation as well, to the distance from finger to plucking sting is always the same. I guess thats all very Jazz, prog, metal. Clean and fast.
5. 2 and a half grand ey. Reet, If I'm ever good enough to warrant a plus 2 grand bass I'm going to buy one, thats not going to be for 20 or 30 years of solid practice though. What we need right is this: Those handbag or exotic car sharing schemes, where you pay a fee every month and get to borrow for a limited time something you couldn't otherwise afford. You get to hand it back after a couple of weeks showing off or intensive playing, and try out the next bit of exotica. I reckon given the amount of money I see being lost in the used bass section day in, day out, it wouldn't end up being that huge a cost either, relativly speaking. Whose got 20 grand startup money?
6.
I've been interested in the work of Simon Farmer ever since I saw photos of one of his early prototype guitars in one of the musical instrument magazines in the mid to late 80s. I think that was the first time that I'd seen a ...
Wow how much do these things cost?
7. Well I'm 27 and find it really hard to remember anything, and I've been that way for ever. Always worked around it by avoiding subjects that require much memory and instead can be worked out - Physics and Maths rather than History and languages. Tis one of the things that holds me back with music though, hopefully one day I've be good enough just ot improv everything.

10. Ha! I'll try and get round to taking pictures and putting them up for sale when I have a moment away from work.
11.
Yeah I know but I wouldn't have a clue how to pack it securely! Come on...theres got to be someone who lives near me!
I'd quite like this, but It'd cost me more to get to Sunderland than the bass is worth! Just a thought, I've seen people send stuff through thier local music shops for a relativly small price.
12. I have an Aria Pro 11 IGB-65 in red sunburst A trace Elliot GP7 1x15 amp (green carpet era) An Ibanez Sabre guitar - with says "Custom made" on the neck with a floyd rose floating trem in all black and QM pickups, But I have no idea what any of its worth, any ideas? I have a strict two bass, 1 amp rule and these are sitting there not being used. I can't seem to find many details with google search.
13. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MESA-BOOGIE-WALKABOU...VQQcmdZViewItem About a grand too expensive, but nice anyway.
14. Yeah, even though I said it was over-priced I didn't really mean that. I meant you could get one cheaper perhaps. My ASAT has the body binding, gold hardware etc and it came in below that price range. But honestly If I sold it, I'd want more. So, you know. Can't recommend the bass enough btw.
15. I havn't sprayed a guitar, but I have done car parts with the cans of paint and it's really not that hard to get a really good finish, especially if you're willing to do a bit of sanding down and lots and lots of little layers. The most imprtant thing is to buy a proper mask, because the stuff they put in car paint really isn't something you want in your lungs.
16. Mmm thats very nice. IMO It's a little over-priced though, It's basically the same bass as an ASAT with a different body shape. They don't come up that often but you could be lucky and get a perfect example in the 550-600 range. Considering the body binding costs a little extra and how rare these are, If I had a spare £700 I'd be very tempted. New the bass cellar sell ASATs for a grand.
17. It's a shame the ASATs arn't the most comfortable, heavy too. I did find a grippy strap and using the bottom button gets rid of most of the neck dive, you can also get another button that fits onto the neck plate which apprently gets rid of it all together.
18. The bass cellar helped me out a great deal when i was looking for my first proper bass. They bascially let me try stuff out for about an hour, with the (long haired) guy bringing me different stuff, explaining them, then letting me have a go on my own for as long as I needed. The only reason I didn't buy something from themw as the price being roughly twice what i ended up paying. However I did buy a pedal, strap and strings from them based on that service and would again.
WHERE ARE YOU PEOPLE GETTING ALL THESE AMAZING ASATS FROM?????????????? lol looks fantastic!! Si
Burnley Actually it was from Al Embric on this site.
20.
Mesa Boogie Walkabout scout...... AWESOME!
This. I just moved from the 150W 1x15 Trace combo to one, second-hand it was 2/3rds of your budget and the difference in sound is remarkable. It's also light and compact enough to carry on the tube (imo) and the head is very easy to remove. The only disadvantage is my cat has decided the front grill is a decent scratching post. Thus I've had to ban said cat from the music room.
21. Macs can and do have 4.5gb of Ram, g5 have it as an option I think. In anycase you don't need matched pairs anymore. As others have said, thats way more than you need, so don't bother upgrading it any more. You'd be better spending the money on a good audio interface. Since all that playback and input performance is definied by that.

Who says white and gold is tacky ey. Apparently, this is the only one of its kind in this colour scheme, it was made for Jerry Donahue of the Hellecasters along with a sister model in black.
23. Sorry the picture is poor, doesn't do anything any justice, and I'm a part-time photographer!
