Volume pedals
I'd get a new pre-amp or change the wiring so that you've got a master volume. If you're used to using your fingers to change the volume, it's a real bastard adapting to using a volume pedal. Volume knobs can also be a bit more precise as I find the sweep on many volume pedals can be quite severe and not as intuitive as you'd think. I use a volume pedal in conjuction with my chorii pedals for swells, but I use the J- East to adjust volume for various sections. Truckstop
Interesting, though this has been prompted my a new bass (lakland decade) and I want to spend time with it in it's factory intended state at least for a while. thisnameistaken, with regards to pedals my chain is this: DBS Multicomp->EBS microbass 11 Link output -> Sonic labs Strobe tuner Output/di -> Amp Cable is certinaly <20ft, but who knows what the future holds... Nyl Ah didn't look at Morley, will check out now

Volume pedals

Have gone from one volume knob and little pinky control to jazz layout. I like to fiddle with me volume on stage a lot, so....volume pedal..... Any thoughts? Seems like it's down to Ernie Ball VP JR or the Visual Sounds thing, visual sounds seems to be in the lead: Visual sounds Has flashy lights! The website text was so badly written, it's put me off a bit (At the risk of garnering criticism of my own writing I know) Two inputs, Two outputs, so i could use my two basses 9one active, one passive)
5. Another one for the Sonic Research Turbo Tuner, it's fanastic, very very very quick, never had any kind of problem with it, built like a tank and it's got lots of flashing lights.
6. Very cool and an excuse to post this again: Alright how do you embed youtube? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=whUr3Xxl9zc
7. Well I sold it 5 minutes ago and already regret it . Wasn't getting the use it deserves though.
8. I have a harvest strap and a couple of italia straps and I think the harvest has it on quality, though they're both great and the 4 inch italia is really very wide and comfy
9. Me too, mesa walkabout, don't drive so never take it out of the house. Even when I have it's bascially been my own monitor. Now I have an ebs micro on my pedal board and everything goes through pa and monitors.
10. Had some trade offers but nothing quite right bump
11. Core that looks nice, I want it even though I have a asat with the same electronics
12. Corr there are a lot of basses for sale at the moment.
13. Hey, You might be right, I think its uniqueness was one of the things that attracted me to it, but it does put it slightly into the niche market on the wrong side of 1K. To be honest I’m in no particular rush to sell it, my ideal would be someone to come up with an interesting trade which would give me a new toy to play with for a while. I suspect the right thing to do is keep hold of if for quite a few years and ensure it keeps its condition.
14. Hello all I think I've decided to move on the Fretless Ricky that I bought from Happy Jack here. It is not getting the play time it deserves and whilst I was thinking about holding on to it as an investment piece my better half dictates one in one out so I guess that’s that. Happy Jack is 1000 times more knowledgeable than me so I'll use his words to describe it: "Fretless Ricky’s didn’t get into the catalogue until 1984, so this one was a factory special order. It has red dot markers down the binding which seems to be unique; I’ve never seen these on any other Ricky anyway. The phenolic fingerboard has a phenomenal mwah and is completely unmarked. The bass is complete right down to the original horse-shoe pickup cover, and of course comes in the original Rickenbacker hard case. This is just a lovely, lovely instrument. It weighs a lot less than the two basses listed above, but it’s still over 9 lbs and my quest for lightness knows no bounds." -- Happy Jack The original detailed pictures are here: pictures Original thread here I used it to record the song "secret steps" available here (probably not the best example of its capabilities) Since owning the bass it hasn't been outside the music room or studio. Now, I'm based in London and don't really want to post this thing, but will if I have to. I'm completely open to trades, with cash going either way, or a straight sale – you can see I bought it for £1200 in August 2010. I think Ricky prices have probably moved a bit since then but not by much.
15. And a video!
16. Hi all, I've been playing in a band for about 6 months now, we've got a few gigs under our belt and just got two decent recordings uploaded to myspace: http://www.myspace.com/thelostcavalry If you have a moment check it out (and befriend us). Secret Steps recorded using my Fretless Rickenbacker and EBS Microbass. Oh Sally using my G&L ASAT straight into the desk.
17. The Joint, Kings Cross, tis great.
18. nooooooooooo I think I'm moving soon and to a smaller place, but I've wanted this for so long
19. Because it's nice to have nice things.
20. Never done in but lots of online instances of people doing it without problem. Finding an ext cab for less that £500 not so easy.
21. Whilst on the subject can someone recommned me a sack barrow?
22. That is really very cool
23. I use the dr black ones, I'm not 100% sure how it works, but it's something along the lines or skin cells, grease and grime getting into the string. Using a pick all the parts you touch, and 95% of the string remains coated, so I suspect retains it's zing. Strings sound fine to me, even where really battered.
24.
Why don't coated bass strings retain their coating when you play them with a pick? There are coated guitar strings available and nearly every guitarist uses a pick and you don't hear of any problems with them.
I use coated on guitar and they lose the covering pretty quickly when using a pick, I think it's just accepted.
