I have been a regular on several drum fora; the biggest drawback to them, from my POV is that they are Yankee, for the most part, and there are many traits of similitude with T***Bass, in that 'flame wars' are common, or they are over-moderated beyond blandness. The 'style' here is the key to it's roaring success, and that would be the biggest feature that could be brought to any forum, I should think. Partly due to the[i] [u]contributors[/u], [/i]of course (cries of 'Hear, hear' in the background...); the admin and [s]gods[/s] mods are not exempt from responsibility. Obviously you would want to split them up into General/OT, Gear, Technique, Classifieds etc like on here and I would also suggest in the gear section you add a forum for hardware, since people will want a place to talk about drum pedals, hi hat stands etc. If you need someone to moderate for the first couple of months I could do it until you find someone more competent Also speaking of being a pedant, "contributors" does not have an e in it

good question. I think my tempo is usually ok on the drums but sometimes I get the timing a bit wrong when I count in and confuse everyone lol. I think the only reason I would use one at a gig is if we had to sync with computer/MIDI triggered aux parts or effects.

You have to know what you're doing though. You've got to spend a lot of time tweaking things like guitar rig to get them to sound good.

[/quote] I personally find it is a lot easier to use an external editor since you don't have to type in the velocity of every different note, you're not having to slide the notes in with pinpoint precision in order for them to sit on the right timeslot and all that jazz.

It's nice to be able to record your own parts at home if possible but having the capability of getting a decent sounding recording at home is not always possible for most people.

The best way to do it is to use a program like TuxGuitar to write a MIDI drum part, then export it as a MIDI file and import it into whatever DAW you're using to host Superior.

If people are investing money into a recording then the final product needs to be as good as it can be to the end listener. Bear in mind, Pete Townshend didn't do much playing on Can't Explain. It happens. As I said, listen to the finished product and see how it sounds. It really is all about the song as a whole, not the bass, not the guitar, the song. If you still feel the music is lacking then maybe it's not the right situation for you. If it sounds right when you hear the final mix, maybe you can take it on the chin and learn from the situation. [/quote] +1. Not just Pete Townsend, either. Ringo had his parts on the original album re-recorded by a session drummer because his kick drum parts were not deemed "tight" enough. I appreciate that it is a real bummer when you have to re-record parts you have spent a lot of time on (I've been there) but you have to understand that if these lot are a professional outfit, they are going to need to sound perfect, which is more important than any one person's ego. If you look at the songs I am making for example, at the moment, like your drummer, I'm using S2.0. It means that my parts aren't on any of the recordings as such, but because of my shortcomings as a drummer, I know it will sound a lot better for metal music than anything I could record at this stage.
