Haven't got around to seeing them live yet, unfortunately. Everyone says they're incredible.

Yep, I'm a fan. The whole family is, especially my 10 year old son. We played the 'Man Alive' album to death for about a year or so, so had to give it a rest. Looking forward to the new CD. This is far and away my favourite track:

Used it at last week's gig and it sounded terrific. Proved hard to mic up though, due to the two speakers having different tonal qualities, so we went for DI through the PA. Photo by Ashley Jones.

There's nothing amazing about his tone at all. It's just bass-heavy. You can get that sound from virtually any bass through any amp with any kind of strings.

Use your iphone to control an amp? What could possibly go wrong?

Tonight's second set cancelled - nobody in the pub
Some good advice there (genre dependant possibly), but the key word is the last one. Make an effort. Word soon gets round when a band does things differently.
Agree! -

Some surprising explanations for poor attendances here! Smoking ban? Price of beer? Be fussy about where you play. Don't play C&W in front of Rockers- check out the venue and the punters. Do a good job on Facebook and let everyone know when the gig is. Tell em what type of gig it is and include links to the music. Don't play loud! Dont put anything but vocals through the PA. You don't need to amplify bass drums, for instance. People hate loud gigs no matter what you might think. Finally feel free to say no if you suspect the gig isn't worth the effort. -
-
Try Club Integral. They have regular spots in Hackney and Stockwell. BTW it is exceptionally hard to get a gig at Cafe Oto. Emailing them or phoning them is utterly futile.
-
A clip of the main act at the gig, Stars in Battledress. Wonderful band. http://youtu.be/3OJ--PBWhd8

There's only so much you say/write about bass playing/bass guitars and stuff. I think that's the problem. They had what looked like the same bloke on the cover two months running - a heavy metal guy. When I looked closer I realised he was a different person. But I didn't really care. At all.

Another pic of the cab amongst the chaos and detritus of the rehearsal room. Drummer oblivious.
-
Not a great pic, but here's a shot from rehearsal yesterday. Note my 'vintage' amp sits astride my new prize. Oh, yes, you can hear it live at our gig at the Buffalo bar on Wednesday 5th Sept: http://www.buffalobar.co.uk/listing/2012/09/05/guided-missile-presents/
