1. Bump for price drop on the blue one Cheers, B.
2.
Gah someone beat me too it! Definitely a massive +1 on checking this band out! Energy Personified! I saw them once about 3 years ago and i can still hear my ears ringing! You may want to check out Fingerthing too, not necessarily a live drummer and bass, but a double bassist and a non flashy DJ who primarily just drops beats and soundscapes! worth the view!
+1 on Fingathing - Sneaky the bassist now has a new project on the go, which is mostly just him & a drummer. Saw them at a festival this summer & they were amazing! http://www.thisissneaky.co.uk/videos/ Cheers, B.
3. Bump - open to offers on both of them, especially the blue one given that it needs a bit of work. Would prefer to do a face-to-face deal if you can make it up to Newcastle... Cheers, B.
4. Well, I had a reply - not impressed! Thanks for contacting us regarding the negative feedback you left for "xxxxxxxxx". I have reviewed your case again and I'm sorry to inform you that as the feedback you left has fitted one of our feedback removal criteria, I have removed it. Please note that our decision to remove the feedback does not constitute us finding that the identified feedback is defamatory or otherwise unlawful. However, please keep in mind that due to eBay's privacy considerations that are in place to protect us all, I am unable to provide you with specific details of the investigation or the actions that will be taken against the member's account. I trust this information, if nothing else, reassures you of the level of privacy that your own account with eBay holds. Seems like a fob off, but I was interested in the bit about the investigations into the member's account - not sure if they mean me or them - what do you think? Cheers, B.
5. Hi - thanks for the comments. I have followed it up with eBay & I'll let you know what comes back. The scary thing is the fact that eBay never asked me about the feedback removal - I was sent a request from the seller to modify the feedback & when I refused they went ahead & removed it anyway. Makes a mockery of the whole system - if an eBay admin had asked me about it & had voted to go with the seller then I'd have been happier, but this is a bit of an Orwellian cover up. Watchdog could be a good one if eBay don't reply with anything decent - not sure if I'd fancy meeting Anne Robinson though! Won't name the seller on here until I hear back from them as it could be detrimental to my case (it's amazing how fast posts on here can be found via Google!). Cheers, B.
6. Hi - had a really terrible eBay transaction a couple of months ago. Bought a packaged couple of Danelectro 63 basses (long scale & short scale) from a so called 'Power Seller' at a pretty good price. When they arrived, the invoice said they had been set up. However, one of them played really badly & buzzed beyond acceptable for a new bass, along with having problems with the finish (Danos have side tape & this was peeling off). I contacted the seller & returned the items straight away. However, I heard nothing. I chased this up & they told me they lost the package in their warehouse, but would let me know when it had been processed. Again, heard nothing. Eventually called them & was told that, due to e-mail problems, only some of their e-mails hadn't been sent, but they didn't know which ones (which sounded suspicious...). Heard nothing again. Eventually, after saying I was going to escalate with eBay, they refunded me the purchase price through PayPal. I'd opened a return request stating the bass was damaged & they'd accepted it. Now the thing that rattled me was, although they refunded me the purchase price, under UK Distance Selling regulations the seller should refund return shipping for faulty goods, although there is no obligation to do this if goods aren't faulty. When I asked the seller about this, they claimed there was nothing wrong with the bass & so had no obligation to refund shipping. To quantify this they went on to say that there can't have been a problem as they sold the bass to someone else & having to adjust the action for buzzes was a standard maintenance task, so was not a fault! I was tearing my hair out at this point so I contacted eBay, but they said they couldn't help as they only provide a marketplace to trade (thanks for that!), so I did the only thing left & left negative feedback. Didn't say anything emotive or nasty - simply said that I had received poor after sales service & they refused to refund shipping on faulty goods (i.e. what happened). A couple of weeks later I received a request to retract the feedback - the seller claimed my feedback was incorrect as there was no fault with the bass, but I declined this as I felt I was right to say it was poor service. Thought nothing more about it until I logged into eBay & noticed that the feedback I'd left had disappeared! It seems that sellers can have feedback removed if you don't agree with it, without the agreement of the person who wrote it! Surely this can't be right - it means that feedback can't be trusted if it can be removed without agreement from both sides. Does anyone know anything about this? The cynic in me is wondering whether a high-volume seller has enough clout to get feedback removed - the worying thing is that, if this happens regularly, then you can't trust feedback to reflect what a seller's like. What do you think? B.
7.
Far too cheap for these! Great basses and a bargain for who ever gets them! I'd love the blue one. good luck andy
Cheers Andy! Had more interest in the blue one so far actually, but after spending ages last night with a mountain of cardboard & bubble wrap I can't find a way to package it without a case that I'm happy with (wanted to keep the case for the orange one as it doesn't need any work). The BEX-4 is just too wide for all the gigbags I've tried too, so it'll have to be a face to face deal on that one. I'm based up north in Newcastle upon Tyne. B.
8. Edited to amend price/postage info By the way, recently changed my user name - my feedback thread for my old user name is here. Cheers, B.
9.
i've replied to the PM, cheers. Andy
...and I've replied back B.
10. Hi - I'm having a clearout at the mo so I've decided to move on my pair of Yamaha BEX-4 basses. If you're not familiar with them, they are 34" scale single cutaway semis (with a Gibson-style central block) & the electrics are a combination of magnetic soapbar + piezo pickups with an active 3 band EQ, giving you a pretty broad scope tone-wise. Controls on the body are volume & magnetic/piezo mix, with the EQ on the top like you'd find on an electro-acoustic guitar. Orange one now sold... The second one is in blueburst & needs a bit of work. It was defretted a while ago, but it's since had a refret (both jobs by a professional bass tech). It plays fine (out of the two it's my favourite to play as the neck's a bit thinner & the body's lighter), but there's an occasional problem with the electrics - the pickup blend occasionally cuts out, but comes back with a wiggle of the pot. Probably nothing too major if you're handy with a soldering iron - I'm not though! It's currently strung with old roundwound strings, but I'll throw in a set of D'Addario Chromes (40-100 - cut to fit) with this one. I don't have a case for it. I'm looking for £125 posted on this one. More info: - Yamaha Spec Harmony Central Reviews Give me a shout if you want any more pics or info... Cheers, B. ____________________________ [s]The first one is a Gretsch-style flamed Orange finish. It has a really comfy action - it had a pro set up when I bought it & it's currently strung with Thomastik Flats, giving it a warm rootsy tone. There are a couple of dings on the back & the edge of the rosewood bridge snapped off between the E & A strings. It's been glued back on & the break is purely cosmetic - it doesn't cause any issues as under the rosewood there's a metal frame that the strings are anchored into & it isn't visible from the front unless you're really close up (see pics). I have a hard case for this so it can be posted. I'll throw in a spare set of Thomastik flats (cut to fit the bass) too. I'm after £200 posted for this one.[/s]

13. Hi - been browsing to see what bass parts are knocking around for sale & I was wondering if it might help to find stuff if parts were in a separate section of the marketplace rather than alongside guitars/keyboards etc. in the 'Other musically related stuff' section. Just wondered what everyone else thought? B.
14.
Sold me a Danelectro bass, I never met him and he put up with the random arrangements of friends picking it up and who knows what.... great guy to put up with all sort of random sellingness. Brilliant and other positive noises.
Thanks for the kind words Luke - hope you enjoy it! And thanks to everyone elcse for all the other feedback - didn't spot it when it was written - cheers! B.
15. Hi - thanks for the help. Decided to take a punt on a cheap plate off eBay over the weekend, so will see how that goes. Gone off the idea of the thumbrest - after trying it blutacked on for about five minutes yesterday I realised that it might be a bad move... Cheers, B.
16. Hi - just bought a great Squier Classic Vibe Jazz from the forum, but I'm thinking of changing the stock scratchplate. I'm not sure whether a standard spare will fit - looks like it will, but I was wondering if anyone has done this & has any advice on a good one to go for please? Also, I'm thinking I might like to have a '70s-style thumb rest above the strings (had a Fender years ago that was nicked & I loved it). I've found a few '70s scratchplates online with pre-cut holes, but not sure if everything will line up on the Squier, as it's derived from a '62 Jazz. Can anyone help please? Cheers, B.
17. Bought a Squier Classic Vibe Jazz from Moos3h & he's a brilliant guy to deal with - great communication, expert packaging & very swift to deliver once the funds had cleared. Thanks again for a very smooth deal - cheers! B.
18. Sold my Dano '63 to Luke (with a bit of help from his mate Tom who lives near me). Nice guy to deal with - great communication & everything went smoothly. Cheers! B.
19. If he's put the bass on Gumtree & then pulled it, I would contact Gumtree straight away & let them know what's going on. At the very least, they may give you proper confirmation that the advert was placed, which could prove useful if you take things further through the small claims court... I think this is the link you need: - http://www.gumtree.com/cgi-bin/help.pl?i=77 B.
20.
Now offered to Bentdice for 1st refusal Thanks, James
Cheers - still interested! PM sent... B.
