  1. The four string came out of the case this morning for the first time since February when I bought the five. (I'm going up to the midlands bass bash so I thought I had better check it was still working) Things I noted in ascending order of importance: The 4 is much lighter than the 5; the Rotosounds, which I didn't like when I put them on at Christmas, I now really like the sound of and might put them on the 5 when I next change those strings; I need to check the action on the 5, as I've been clanking the frets recently, but I didn't at all on the 4. And finally - I have no idea how to play any open strings any more, so if you want something in a key lower than G then I'm stuffed! ๐Ÿ˜„
  2. I get what you mean "it looks like an old bass", something about it to my eyes says "Expensive late '70's custom shop". Which is a Good Thing ๐Ÿ™‚ And it sounds superb! ๐ŸŽถ
  3. Half a packet of cigarettes and sunglasses?
  4. I wouldn't be allowed to - my daughter works for Cadbury's and McVities are a competitor. However I'll see what she can get from the staff shop for raffle prizes. If we're having a raffle?
  5. You mean the information we need is at the start of the thread, so everyone can easily find it? What is this new fangled madness?? Thanks both, see you there ๐Ÿ˜
  6. @jebroad- what's the arrival and departure time?
  7. I had pencilled this in, now ruling it out as September is getting busy. See some of you at the Milan* bash on the 4th ๐Ÿ‘
  8. I'll see if I can pick one up on the way.
  9. Maybe?
  10. Nothing from me I'm afraid. Have you checked the marketplace here? I guess an inexpensive P would be the place to start as a general church bass. Or almost any Yamaha at all.
  11. ... a van to cart them all about in? Still need to establish if I can get two basses and an amp in my car.
  12. Thanks for that - infinitely better than "F---orget you". Now I'm off down a rabbit hole of "Live From Daryl's House" episodes. He's played with some great and varied musicians! Live From Daryl's House with Daryl Hall :: Show Archive | Live From Daryl's House (livefromdarylshouse.com)
  13. Son is going to a wedding, so he's not coming with me.
  14. I specified and configured the sound desk, set up all the livestream equipment, and am loosely speaking in charge of the tech. So it's all my fault anyway ๐Ÿ™‚
  15. Micky Mouse and Co. employ some Very Expensive Lawyers...
  16. That looks fab! Definitely has stage presence ๐Ÿ‘Œ
  17. Very nice, both of them. But I have just put down the deposit on a car, can't justify another bass too.
  18. Sandberg California 5? Yes please ๐Ÿ™ƒ
  19. Played in church for the first time since the weekend before lockdown. No drummer today, only piano, bass and guitar, so just keeping the pulse simple and steady. Good to hear the congregation singing too.
  20. Welcome back
  21. Only three weeks to go!! @jebroad - are we all set??
  22. Welcomed aboard StudyBass.com is definitely worth a look, free and very well structured. Scottsbasslessons.com likewise, but he's a bit marmite.
  23. Welcome aboard! Normally we advise Newbies to stay away from the marketplace so they don't just buy stuff. In your case however, sell away and feed everyone else's GAS ๐Ÿ™ƒ
