Sometimes things go well, and occasionally they go very well. I was "depping" this morning with another band at church. Normally my son plays bass and his wife plays flute in that band, as they were away I was on bass, the normal keyboard player dusted off his violin, and we had another keyboard player who is really a classical pianist. So apart from the BL on rhythm guitar it was all new instruments. Everything clicked, it was the most enjoyable service I have ever played, and the best I have ever played as well. There was pulse when there needed to be, space when required, eveyone worked seamlessly together. The keys and piano interwove beautifully as if they had been playing together forever. I still messed up in one song, but as I dropped out the piano filled straight in as if it was planned. More importantly the congregation thought the music was good and really sung well. It was a completely new experience for me, I hope it's not unique! Have a blessed week everyone.

So many instruments I want to try, so many people to catch up with. This is the best version of the travelling salesman problem ever! -
What are you listening to right now?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m001cdwm Jay Blades on Desert Island Discs. I knew nothing about him, but he has some great music choices, most of which I also knew nothing of. DISC ONE: Help Me Make It Through the Night by John Holt DISC TWO: The Night I Fell In Love by Luther Vandross DISC THREE: Revolution by Dennis Brown DISC FOUR: Battle by Wookie DISC FIVE: Love You Anyway by Cameo DISC SIX: Baby I’m A Fool by Melody Gardot DISC SEVEN: Kisses Don’t Lie by Evelyn “Champagne” King DISC EIGHT: Take Me To The Alley by Gregory Porter -

I've never heard of them either, but it's a very nice bass. Is the chicken-head switch a frequency selection or tone switch? What are the units? Ohms? I play a Brawley, and I've only ever come across another one in the UK, which I now also own. Maybe we should start a club/self help group for brand-lonely bassists?

So many people keep telling me "Leo got it right first time". So, was his second bass any good? Welcome aboard!

Welcome aboard! I don't know much about synths, but there are plenty of people here who do. And a lot of support for Ukraine here as well.

5 string strings on a 4 string
Richard R replied to Buckminster Emptier's topic in General Discussion
Ah yes, that MDP. I have to admit that I have an admiration for his apparently genuine enthusiasm and chutzpah: "A new neck and almost new body, but my tools slipped a couple of times so there are some scratches.” I'm feeling generous, so "eccentric" is my choice of adjective for this evening. 😉 -

I can't honestly recommend it, other than for conessieurs of the rather odd. -
5 string strings on a 4 string

It's never occurred to me to string BEAD as I play 5 string almost exclusively. However my lad has my 5er on loan, and half the songs for next Sunday morning are in ruddy Eb. Since my 4 string is also 35" scale I could restring it and play them as I usually would... Or maybe just learn some alternate fingering this week and put flats on it another time 😎 -

Hove Actually was the original title of the film Love Actually, but getting the trains down there proved so difficult they gave up, set it in north London and changed the name.

Xotic XJ1T Repair - Strip to fix - Wax 'au natural' or re-paint?

I've just gone back to remind myself where all this started: -

Looking good! I wouldn't worry about the ash cover being a different colour. If it's finished to the same high standard you're already achieving then it will just look like a deliberate design choice. -
Geddy Lee = Wee. Scottish for small or short. Maybe too obscure even for BC.
