    Peak Wal?

Back in the mid Noughties, I brokered a sale of sale of a Mk1 Custom that belonged to a musician acquaintance to a guy in Amsterdam. The price? £2200. I took the bass to Amsterdam and the guy couldn't believe his luck in getting a pristine model, with original case. The musician couldn't believe getting £2k for it, given that he'd bought it for £500 back in the late '80s.
  2. Bass Pic attached for non-FBers.
  3. Just seen the thread on TB.....
  4. Have some fun guessing these. I only got two right; The Hofner and the Fender Musicmaster. No cheating! Blindfold test.
  5. I recall one about them squeezing a tube of Wasabi into a bowl and telling JN it was guacamole.
  6. Indeed. Wonder if it's the same seller?

    Evri

    AH, yes, of course.
  8. I had the Vintage 'Jaco' Jazz. It was a POS. Awful body finish and horrendous neck-dive. A weak-sounding instrument.

I've heard some courier firms have trackers on their vehicles. I cannot remember which ones, though, and if actually true.

    Evri

Without a doubt the worst courier experience I have had, either as Hermes or as Evri. The former lost track of a Steinberger XL2 I was posting to Vienna. Checked twice at Edinburgh and seemingly never left that depot. Hermes would not answer calls, and the chat-bot kept telling me it was unable to answer, or somesuch. I had to get the courier broker involved (Parcel Hero) and they actually got through to them but they were of not help. The purchaser was really understanding, but just as I was about to refund them and make a claim, some two weeks after courier picked it, I got an email from the purchaser that it had arrived in Vienna ok.....whilst still showing sat in Edinburgh. The second one, with Evri, involved a drop-off at my door (in a block) despite a note to leave in a particular safe place. A photo was provided but the item was not there when I arrived home. I now get items delivered to, or sent from, my workplace.
  11. Shame about that J. Wal Pro 1
  12. Back in my teens, I sometimes rehearsed in the attic of a hippy flat. There was a Dano plexi guitar there, and it was heavy enough, iirc.
  13. Don't recall them with two humbuckers. Nice neck/'board for the mid '70s. CSL Bass
  14. In discussion with AB, Thx for input. All seems to be going well.
  15. A mate used to call them that, facetiously.
  16. Once known as Rickenbacker International Company.
  17. I've never purchased from this dealer (for several reasons) but I'm considering doing so, as something has arrived that I have my eye on. so I'm looking for others' experience, positive or negative.
  18. Those early stacks had that black overspray. And I've seen one or two that had the red almost faded away.
  19. I thought it might be a Kemper Profiler, but it isn't.
