  1. This is what I'm really interested in. I don't really play gigs big enough for PA support. We only use the PA for vocals and acoustic guitar. Does the QSC handle the bass well enough to be a standalone back line cab replacement for small to medium venues?
  2. I'd quite like to slap Bob Geldoff. Does that count?
  3. So, has anyone tried any of these new fangled FRFR speakers to use as on stage bass monitors instead of cabs? (I'll get my coat)
  4. Thankfully highly unlikely where I live.
  5. It certainly wasn't in the small print when I joined a band. 😅
  6. Excellent! Well done.
  7. Nice! I'm just waiting for the TC electronic 208's to come in stock to do the same thing. I'm quickly coming to the conclusion that a lightweight, vertical stack is definitely the way to go.
  8. I think my ESP LTD 6er has it's own gravitational field. Edit 14.22 pounds according to the website.
  9. Another new release. It still doesn't have me jumping with excitement. But it's much more the classic GNR sound, and imho much better than Absurd. I'm not sure if it's YouTube, but again it sounds horribly produced.
  10. I don't get why anyone thinks GnR vocals are awful. (current track excepted). For me, Axl is, and will always be, one of the greatest rock frontmen of all time. Slash once called him the man of five voices. Personally I think he undersold it.
  11. They're Behringer 15's. So far only used for vocals and Uke. I've never had a need to use them for bass as I've always had decent sized back line cabs. Although I've tested them and they run bass just fine for the volume we play. So either a couple of small cabs for back line / stage monitoring or a FRFR, then a DI into the PA would work fine for our purposes. Anything louder and our PA wouldn't take handle it anyway. We're not cut out for festivals with the gear we have. But it copes just fine with pub / garden BBQ type gigs.
  12. I actually thought it was a bit Prodegy-esque. Only not as good.
  13. Yeah. 2 of the TC 2x8's are my other current option. I'm going backwards and forwards between them and the HB FRFR
  14. Problem is, most lightweight cabs are prohibitively expensive, and/ or relatively low wattage. I've set my weight limit at 17kg, as that's the weight of our current PA speakers, which are just about manageable.
  15. Sadly I have to say I agree with most of the above. Having given the track another couple of listens, despite my best intentions, I can't find any redeeming features. AFD is still my favourite album of all time. Lies was a mediocre bit of filler Use Your Illusions 1&2 were OK. I'd love to have heard the original demos before Axl overproduced them to death. Spaghetti Incident was a pretty good covers album which introduced me to a few punk songs I hadn't heard before. Chinese Democracy, meh! A couple of half decent tracks. This. Dross!
  16. Actually. If you were reading it in "Cyrillic" (The "Russian" alphabet actually comes from Bulgaria) It would be AVSTSYAD. There is no letter "u". The nearest thing in shape would be "ц", pronounced TS, and the "B" would be pronounced V.
  17. Still like the look of the TC's though. Might order both from Thomann for a trial and take advantage of their very kind no questions asked returns policy. 😂
  18. First new single from Guns N Roses original lineup (minus Steve Adler and Izzy Stradlin) in about 30 years. I'm a massive GNR fan. For me Appetite For Destruction is the greatest album of all time. Having said that, I'm really not sure about this new single. Maybe needs a few more listens, or the context of a few other tracks to see what kind of direction the band is heading. Absurd. https://youtu.be/Perh45ip3fY
  19. That's how I made it this far. 😂
  20. It seems to be pretty much the same as the Headrush FRFR 212, except lighter, less expensive, and has a couple of cab Sims (which I wouldn't use) built in. There seems to be plenty of bass players using the Headrush. 😉
  21. It's full range. So more than capable for bass. Strictly speaking there's no such thing as a guitar FRFR, it's just a marketing thing.
  22. Just doing my best to catch up on this thread. Sorry if I've missed anything now it's approximately seventy thirteen million posts long. I'm now seriously considering going down the FRFR route for a lightweight rig. I'm sick of humping heavy cabs around. My guitarists plays through a 5W valve amp, so they're overkill in most situations anyway. Has anybody seen / tried the new Harley Benton 12 inch FRFR. It looks great, the reviews are good, and as always with HB the price is ridiculous. It should cover pretty much all situations for our band, we're fairly quiet, only play small bar type venues, and there's always the option of going through FOH for outdoor gigs. https://www.thomann.de/intl/harley_benton_frfr_112a_guitar_dsp_monitor.htm?i11l=en_GB%3ABG.EUR
  23. Thanks. Yeah I also have the Bugera, so output control into the cabs will be essential. I'm now debating whether to go for the the TC cabs, or go FRFR speaker for a lightweight rig. The new v Harley Benton FRFR speaker looks ridiculously good for the money. A lot more powerful, cheaper and even lighter than two of the TC's. One load out from the car, speaker in one hand, bass case in the other. What is a boy to do? https://www.thomann.de/intl/harley_benton_frfr_112a_guitar_dsp_monitor.htm?i11l=en_GB%3ABG.EUR
