Reggaebass

Loving that ☝️

I’ve had some interesting discussions on a few reggae forums about who played the bass on certain tracks on Bob Marley albums, i said it was Aston Barrett, but some disagreed and said it was Val Douglas, I know val has played with many famous reggae artists at some point or another , but none could show me any proof. he also played bass for the Skatalites.

Just changed the aged white pickguard for a worn black one on my P, it looks so much better and it was a good fit

Yeah, I started playing as a kid in 1977, and most of my friends parents listened to a lot of ska and Motown

Can I ask how you did the top side edge of the fretboard without it staining the neck, as I’d like to try this

That’s brilliant lonestar, it still works you know, a friend of mine took it off the wall a few years ago and plugged it in, the jack was really crackly, but it plays 😁

Cheers for that, I’m not familiar with him but I just had a quick look , he’s quite a player 👍, I don’t play it every day but it’s good fun to get out now and again, makes a change from my jazzes, it’s got a nice sound 🙂

Also, Does anyone know what cap I need for the switch top, I bought a strat one I think , but it’s too big

A little update, I tried everywhere to get the truss rod cover with no luck, so as someone suggested I bought a 100mm square piece of brass for £5 and cut one out to shape just to cover the hole, I’ve just got to get some small brass screws next time I’m at the workshop

it doesn’t matter how many basses I have, there always seems to be 1 more I see and want 😁

No top load, I’ve never tried them string thru

I’ve got 2 jazzes permanently fitted with D’Addario tapes, great strings
