Depends on what the originals scene is like where the band is playing. Festival gigs would be far and few in-between for local originals bands in my neck of the woods. I've seen it from both sides. Blue

We had a monthly gig in Milwaukee, the hours we're 9:30-1:30. Home by 3:00. Blue

I love gigging, however now at 66 years of age the 4 hour bar gigs are difficult for me for a myriad of reasons. Blue

Last week's gig with The Charlie Daniels was fantastic. Yesterday we played a Harley Davidson Bash, 12:00-3:00. Harley always runs top notch events. However, we were not good yesterday. The crowd was small and we had to tear down when a huge storm blew in. It passed and we set up again. Then another storm came through and it poured. The sound crew's monitors got soaked. This has happened to many of you and it doesn't make you hate gigging. Like many other things it is part of the job, it goes with the territory. We'll all be laughing about it in the future. If stuff like this makes you hate gigging it's probably time to step down . Everybody has experienced bad gigs. Even The Stones & The Beatles had bad gigs. Blue

Thanks BreadBin I don't get enough of playing big crowd gigs, so I savor every moment of these gigs When I'm on stage singing and looking out at that big crowd I remember dreaming of this type of experience when I was kid just starting to gig back in the mud 60s. Blue

Thanks, It's so important to have fun. Easy to have fun at these big crowd gigs. The challenge is bringing the fun and positive attitude to the not so big problematic gigs. Blue

Not a great performance, we're not tight and the parts are not great but it's where we're at and what we're doing this summer. Blue

I am not sure having your band seen playing to 3 people in a bar has much value at all other than a paid rehearsal. Blue

There were bars we had to drop. The type of establishments that books bands and has a clientle that has absolutely no interest in any type of live music. And remember we're faced with 4 hours here in the States not 2 hour pub gigs. Blue

I'started gigging in rock bands at age 12 never really stopped. I'm 66, can't wait till this Saturday's gig. I thinks it's different for those of us with no other life interests. Don't get me wrong, all gigs aren't great. You just put on a happy face and don't take it or yourself that serious. A lot of stuff just goes with the territory I love It . Blue

My band has been lucky this summer with high profile big stage 1 hour gigs. They are more lucrative and much easier to manage and overall more fun and exciting. I'm a bar band guy to the core but after 14 years of 4 hour bar band gigs even I see that it's time to be more selective about the gigs we accept and play. Plus I'm 66 , I'm getting old. I don't expect much discussion from this topic but share your thoughts. I'm sure we're not the first band faced with this. Blue

For me, this usually occurs at poorly organized events with low end management and staff. I've been through the same thing many times. Blue

We opened for The Charlie Daniels Band last night. Great crowd, fun gig and we had a blast. When summer is over it's going to be hard going back to bar gigs. Blue

We rarely rehease. We're having a rare rehearsal this week because we're adding 2 songs we haven't played in a while and have challenged us for the gig with The Charlie Daniels Band. Blue

I think our position on rehearsals, depends on the type of band your in,; 1.Bands that gig consistently 2.Bands that are for fun only and don't gig. 3.Pub/ Bar Bands 4.Bands that tour and do this for a living. Age comes into the picture as well. I certainly don't have the same opinion or position on rehearsals at age 66 that I had at 26. Blue
