Difference in sound between TC Bam 200 and Warwick Gnome
Aalin replied to Aalin's topic in Amps and Cabs
So the Eq of both amps are the same. Good to know. -
Hi Does someone has tested the difference (in term of Sound) between the TC Bam 200 and the Warwick Gnome ? Does someone can tell me if , making the Eq of the Bam flat, I will get the sound of the Warwick ? Those two amps are so similar. I have the Bam, but I’m not sure the EQ fits to me, and may be I could change for a Warwick. - Diagram of the Bam to make it flat: Thank’s for your answers. Alain

Hi Could you tell us a bit more about this wireless ? I could be interested Thank's for your answer

Reading us, It seems that some of us say that it can become very hot, and others don’t. Mine stay cool. Are there good numbers and bad one ???

With only 200 W, you need to set the gain quite high to have a good level. So the light turns quickly to green and stay there. The weight of that amp is more around 2 lbs instead of 1. For the EQ, here is a file to know how to set the TC 200 Bam flat. Could help, after every body can do his own. ToneStack BAM200.pdf

This is exactly my experience with the Xvives. Stupid thing not to be abble to change the battery. This is why I choose the Smoothound that words with classic AAA Battery. https://www.smoothhound-innovations.com/classic-wireless-guitar-system

I have the MXR micro amp. For bass guitar, it could be a clean boost, but not for double bass who need a real clean clean boost. Depend what you want and play. I have tested, MXR, Ampeg Classic Analog Bass Preamp witch is just a preamp but can give you 20 db, but if you could find an Empress para EQ, this one will give you a real 30 db of clean clean sound, + the EQ.

Cleaning the fretboard when you have tapewound strings?
Aalin replied to BabyBlueSound's topic in Accessories and Misc
There are surely a lot of things that can be used to clean nylon strings, We could ask every body having a million of different answers. But if you never tried it, This is not an advice to give to people. -

Yes, and removing the strings, putting them back every time could be a little boring 😀 -

I also use tapewounds strings and as I read that products used on metal strings can damage them, I went to classical nylon guitar site and read that they take the strings apart and wash them with soap. I don't want to take my strings apart and didn't see how I could use soap on my bass, but I found a rather soft product that washes and greases the strings and the fingerboard a little. again, it's pretty soft. Purchased from Thomann. Not completely sure of the result, it works but it remains soft. The one I use is this one https://www.thomann.de/fr/lapella_no.34_single_cleaning_wipe.htm There is also this one witch I don't know https://www.thomann.de/fr/lapella_no.31_cleaning_wipes_set.htm -

Hi Paul Can you tell us a bit more about the Class D stereo power amp you are using? For the moment I am using a Jay Ganz Straight Ahead power amp. Happy with it. -
Reccommenddattions for light but not silly expensive cabs.

Barefaced cabs or GR Bass Cab at Bassdirect AT110 new for 2021, 300w, 8Ω (or 4Ω), 5kg/11lb Can be 4Ω to get all the juice from a small amp -
Lovely, pretty and small, but too expensive for me for an amp witch is made to be played at home. The price could be € 200 minimum.

What makes me think of the possibility of the Vox was its HP of 8". Generaly for my gigs, I never go below 10. exept for the Markbass 801 witch can be quite loud for it's size, I find that below 10, it always lacks bass. As for the Markbass 801, This is why I have a thought for the Vox.

Lemmywinks As I was answering to Al Krow, your answer came. Yes external power brick though doesn't give the impression of a gig worthy amp. I already have a Phil Jones 7kg Bass Cub with 5 "speakers that I would like to sell because I find it a bit light in power compared to the Markbass. It lacks bass, on the other hand the sound is HiFi. The double four could be an option but… 409 € A Used one may be. This makes me think that I can not expect more from the Vox than from the Phil Jones that I already have, except from one HP of 8 compared to two of 5. Think Think Think 😀
