  1. Hi, Speaking strings, I strung with Thomastik JF 344, Flatwound. I like those stings that I had for a long time on my Takamine TB10. Very light gauge, Flatwound to protect the fingerboard, and I like the sound of them. I have tried the Thomastik Acousticore on my Taka TB10, but the surface noise was too much important for me when changing position with the left hand on the fingerboard, otherwise I would have kept them, for the sound, the light gauge, despite the fact that they are round wound and it can mark the fingerboard. - For the Allen key, so they must be tightened firmly and are just here to hold the electret. This way, the buzz disappears, now Sandy no more buzz on the D string.
  2. It's a huge job that you did Sandy for all the owners of Aria Sinsonido. Speaking of the internal baffle arrangement, which can be adjusted using 2 allen-screws through the top of the tube, Does trying to adjust the screws, turning them one side or the others could change the sound, to try to find the best position for the best sound possible ? Thank’s for your answer Alain
  3. 100 £ for two electrets and a PCB, could be a good idea
  4. HI Both of you Is it possible that the difference in bass sound between our 3 Sinsos is only due to the adjustment of the pickups under the strings? I cannot remember the name of the company that made those electret fo Aria. but they could probably answer to the effect of the adjustment on the sound of the bass. For me, I think the string must be sited firmly on the cylinder. Some folks report the problem of difference in sound between the strings, and probably due to the fact that the slot before the cylinder was too tight or too high to let the strings pass or sit correctly. Don’t expect any answers from Aria, they don’t. For the power supply The only instruction I have is this paper. Are you sure of your power supply ?
  5. Hi both of you GetFletch, I listened your record, and don’t find many diffce with my Sinso. Your Sinso seems to work well. I don’t understand the polarity problem you talk about, in case of DC problem, there is protection (diode), have you try with a battery ? I had a rehearsal yesterday and I had an horrible sound, plugged direct in the PA, distorted and using a high pass filter. May be the level of the mixer was too open ? Today I record my Sinso, 3 sound test, all with Berlinger interface from jack to USB 😄 one direct, one direct power amp with no preamp, one on TC Bam 200, EQ at 12, all with Crazy 8 cab, epoxy one, rather medium sound. I don’t know what to say, my today records gives a rather good sound, but live I have always a problem with too much bass, using a HPF full open, and sometimes a distorded sound , due may be to the output made also for an headphone . The only thing we seems to be sure for the moment is the problem with the age of the condensers. Don’t know if my answer will help a lot, to read you. 6. Hi Getfletch I and Sandy are in contact every day and work together to resolve the problem of the Sinsonido. When you have time could you describe the fault symptom(s) you've got with the electronics, please? because you have the recent Sinso, and we have the older one with only one jack. It would be interesting to hear if the symptoms are the same or does Aria has changed few things in their recent models Also, if by chance you would have some records of your sinso, please feel free to include them in your answer, cause our sinso (I and Sandy) doesn't sound the same, and we would like to hear if that comes from the record who are different, or possible different PCB. Thank's for yours answer. Alain
  7. HI Getfletch By chance do you have any record of you sinso ? we would like to compare with ours. Thank's by advance Alain
  8. Maybe to have an uncolored sound, one Solution could be the new Gnome i Pro V2 who has an aux. input, letting you using a preamp in front, bypassing the preamp of the amp. https://www.thomann.de/fr/warwick_gnome_i_pro_v2.htm
  9. The BAM 200 can compress if you push it at his limit, let’s say gain at 3 o’clock. To avoid that, I put the master full open, and adjust my sound with the gain, not to push it too much. Now think that the BAM is 200W. The Gnome is 280 w, so more headroom, more margin to avoid putting it at his limit. But the BAM is lighter. A 4 ohm cab is recommended.
  10. Sorry I should have been more precise: I have 2, they are the old one: EDM1 mono, accept easily the Sinso without cranking, using his hpf (called anti feedback range) at 130 hz. EDB1, 2 channel, where I made two tests: mono and stereo separeting the two channel of the sinso with a special jack. In both test, cranking the sound even if puting the gain nob quite low or the level of the sinso also quite low And curiously, the EDM1 who has no gain nob doesn't crank. Tell me if that help or need some more explications
  11. Many thank’s Sandy to pass so much time to this problem. I will try the 47 resistor and will report here after. Do you know a link where I could order those resistor ? Could be a link in UK or France. Never mind. I’m a bit lost in the different resistor there is. Here is a shop I found in France. https://www.audiophonics.fr/fr/recherche?search_query=résistance+47+ohms Thank’s again for all. Merci beaucoup. To be continued. Alain
  12. HI Everybody Coming back this week to continue being a part of that thread. - Sandy, thank’s for the shema of the jack for the connection with the 47 ohms resistor. If I’m not wrong, as they are parallel resistor, that will make around 23,5 ohms. Isn’t that too low as a total resistor ? may be higher better ? I have a potentiometer somewhere at home, I will try to make a cable with it as a resistor, and test that idea, but I am a bit septic, because when I’m using some pedal with an input potentiometer witch seems to be the first thing after the jack, some of them make the sound cranking. Not all of them. The Francis Deck HPF 3 doesn’t. However let’s give a try of that idea. - Richard R, I’ve red the post of SOS before opening that thread, with great interest, but the discussion was for a tone control that was not working. Is my problem the same as describe ? I have a boomy sound and sometimes cranking the amp, too much output level. Does my problem comes from the preamp, or is it the normal sound of the Sinso because of the use of one jack Headphone and amp ? I’m not strong enough in electronic to understand the shema of the preamp. - For the moment, I stay using the Francis Deck HPF 3, having the Lace Sensor pickup like a car spare tire, and either thinking if I’m ready or not to try the SOS thread with a multimeter, that will be a hard job for me. Or waiting … some news ideas comming in the futur … Have a nice day.
  13. Hi Sandy, still … again … 😀😀 The Lace sensor is the only one pickup to be so thin that it can be put under the strings: .375 », 0,95 cm. About the replacement jack from Thomann you suggest witch one it is ? probably the first one. https://www.thomann.de/gb/tad_jack_socket_stereo_114bpc.htm?shp=eyJjb3VudHJ5IjoiZ2IiLCJjdXJyZW5jeSI6NCwibGFuZ3VhZ2UiOjJ9&reload=1 Not this one ? https://www.thomann.de/gb/neutrik_nj_5_fdv.htm?shp=eyJjb3VudHJ5IjoiZ2IiLCJjdXJyZW5jeSI6NCwibGFuZ3VhZ2UiOjJ9&reload=1 Thank’s for your answer. Yes, I solder. I did the cable one side in stereo, the other to mono, but I want to explore the idea of the 47 ohms resistor, witch seems a good idea, and that could solve the muddy problem. I will come back to you monday, because I’m a little busy this week end, with some sound and asking for some explanations of how to put the 47 resistor. Have a nice week end and thank’s for every things. Hope our discussion will interest others sinsonido bass players.
  14. Hi Sandy Thank’s for your answer. The Lace sensor pickup I bought is a spare pickup in case of the electret will stop working during a gig. Like a car spare wheel. No more. I agree it would be a shame to loose the acoustic pickup. And I should add that the idea of putting electret pickup instead of piezo is really a good idea that some company should work, cause it bring a different sound compare to the piezo. Reayly more Hifi sound . Bus as no company offers those pickup in their bass, there is no many preamp in the market that will work to change it. Great to hear that Thomann ’S jack will work. Thank’s for that Sandy. I asked for a shema of the two jack, it was just to be abble to understand how the original works, cause there is maybe 8 pins on it, I was lost to understand how it works . Also, what I don’t understand is that, when you plug a mono jack, on channel goes to the ground, not working. First, could it be bad for the preamp, second I checked the difference in sound between a headphone and a jack. First, The headphone is stéréo (I think that there is one pickup upon the other, not left and right, the stereo effect is like if you could hear let’s say a king of 3D). Second, when plugging a stereo jack there is more bass on the sound. I tried to split the 2 channel in one mono, making a special cable: stéréo to mono. That brings me more bass, but I ‘m not sure I like the sound better that mono to mono. I don’t mind for a headphone jack, not playing with it, only amps. Monday, I’ll post some sound of my Sinso to make you hear the muddy sound and the cranking one to know if some of you have also the same problems than me or not, to go further in the discussion we have about the Sinsonido. Thank’s to have red my long long writing. 😀 Sandy, does your bass is fretless or not ? I couldn’t say , hearing the demo.
  15. Salut Monsieur Sandy 😀 Yes, I have a Sinsonido Fretless bass I bought in UK, I love it and may be would like to make it my regular bass for giging, So light. And … Yes, I have problems with the PCB 😀 - First of all, I have a muddy sound that oblige me to use a High pass filter at full conter clockwise at 140 Hz, cuting every things below. I don't think it is the same problem that K Barad ahd others explain. my tone control works, bringing a lot of treeble if I want, but the muddy stays if not using a HPS. - Second, the output level is too much, cranking the amp. The same jack for headphone and amp is not a good idea. Fortunately, the HPF I use solve that problem. It's a Francis Deck one: https://sites.google.com/site/hpftechllc/home/hpf-pre - To end, the jack is a bit old. I search for replacing it, here is a picture of it; I found some ideas at Thoman but not sure they are the same. If someone could have some links to buy the same as original one, thank's by advance. Or if someone has the shema of the new Sinsonido with two jacks, one for headphones, one for the amp, that would help me to understand the connection. - And to end again, but that's not a problem, I love so much this bass and was a bit afraid it stop working when giging, that I bought a Lace Sensor Pickup but not yet fixed it, just a tried it to hear. It words, giving me a sort of jazz bass sound. A spare pick up in case of. Links for the jacks I found: 1 https://www.thomann.de/gb/tad_jack_socket_stereo_114bpc.htm?shp=eyJjb3VudHJ5IjoiZ2IiLCJjdXJyZW5jeSI6NCwibGFuZ3VhZ2UiOjJ9&reload=1 2 https://www.thomann.de/gb/neutrik_nj_5_fdv.htm?shp=eyJjb3VudHJ5IjoiZ2IiLCJjdXJyZW5jeSI6NCwibGFuZ3VhZ2UiOjJ9&reload=1 Link to the Lace Sensor pickup https://www.thomann.de/gb/lace_pickups_ultra_slim_bass_pickup_usab.htm?shp=eyJjb3VudHJ5IjoiZ2IiLCJjdXJyZW5jeSI6NCwibGFuZ3VhZ2UiOjJ9&reload=1 Picture of my actual jack below Thanks to every one to have reading me and could help me. Special thank's to Monsieur Sandy. Alain
  16. If i understand correctly, your preamp bypass the original one, and is not added to the original one ? You do not keep the original one ? Thank’s for your answer.
  17. Does the EQ of the Gnome seems to you better than the Bam, or why do you put the Gnome in first ? I find the Bam a little bit too hot. Thank's for your answer
  18. You could always go at Talkbass on the double bass side to ask, because generaly double bass player use the most cleanest amp of the world. https://www.talkbass.com/forums/amps-mics-pickups-db.4/
  19. HI, I had the aswer from Warwick: No diffce in power between the old and the new one: With regards to the Gnome, they are both identical, the V2 has, because ot the demand from the community, an AUX-input, that´s all.
  20. I use this one. https://www.thomann.de/fr/sela_se_005_cajon_bag_black.htm You have a little space more to take your amp and cables. I use it with a trolley, never tested it as a back pack.
  21. If you get one, please tell us if you find a difference between the two.
  22. Talking about the Gnome I pro, there is a new one called V2. https://shop.warwick.de/en/amplifier/bass-amps/bass-amp-heads/36949/warwick-gnome-i-pro-v2-pocket-bass-amp-head-with-usb-interface-and-aux-input-300-watt Has an Aux imput, Also for the new one Warwick write 300 W at 4 ohms instead of 280 W for the original one, but still write 180 W for both of them at 8 ohms. I wonder if they change something inside or not, to write 20 W more for the new V2 one, or just marketing ?
  23. For that I use Transcribe on my computer https://www.seventhstring.com/xscribe/overview.html
