2.
I play for The Distractions pretty regularly- like Len_derby said we definitely do play some crowd-pleasing cheese, but we try to cover as many bases as possible and cater to the clients tastes/needs wherever possible. Clients have some say over the setlist- they can veto songs they don't like (within reason!) and request three songs for us to learn. There are also a number of different singers- our manager will try to get the singer that best fits with the flavour of the set. http://thedistractionsband.co.uk You might want to check out The Velvet Notes- different kind of vibe (more contemporary RnB/soul). 4. I tried one at the bass show this year. Brought it straight away. Wasn't in the market for a new bass, but it smokes and had to have it. Great basses, lovely to play and sound great too. Andrew knows his onions and is lovely to boot. Was it Clive Newnham playing? If so he's a great player.

6. I think I played this when it was first built (it was a fiver back then) at Phil Boots shop in Lonf Eaton. There's a FB group for Paulman owners, will post it there for you.
7. Love Sam Wilkes playing. Scary Pockets are cool: https://youtu.be/IVAmU72k8AU
8. I was looking at this last night. Getting the right bridge would be a challenge. The new ones won't work, you'd need one from the era. Pretty rare one comes up. I'd be super tempted otherwise. Edit: There is one here: https://reverb.com/uk/item/2271296-music-man-1977-vintage-pre-ernie-ball-stingray-bridge-serialized-neck-plate-musicman a bit pricey though.
9.
Depends on the band Im playing with - but for me, recessing the highs off at 10k and above with help loads with ear fatigue... also, clean up the mud in the lows and for me, 2-4k is a hot spot... recess that but not too much because that is where all the details and stuff is in the vocals but it is where you war is sensitive so can tire you ears quickly. I think a good quality headphone amp helps also - running the inears straight off an aux is not great as there's mismatched impedance and an introduction of distortion if your drivers aren't powered correctly. A decent headphone amp will help you out no end. (Maybe that is the justification for the Shure as the amp in that is actually really nice) Loads of people tend to compress the hell out of IEMs... thats not good for ear fatigue either... the less compression in your ears the better really - a limiter for protection is good but don't get carried away with loads of multi band compressors and limiters to get mega loud mixes - they will destroy your ears in no time When I talk about compressors btw, I am talking about what you do with the output bus for your monitor sends as opposed to the individual channels - I would expect a certain amount of compression on the individual channels - but don't mush your inear mix into a tiresome mush. This is also one of the reasons why decent companders are so important - pants companders will squish the hell out of your mix and give you an overly compressed mess. Also- make sure there is no clipping anywhere...! Go stereo if you can! Mono mixes are more fatiguing - separate those instruments out so they don't just clump in the centre of the mix.
Yeah I avoid compression on the IEM sends and roll of the low and some low mids mud. Might have a go at the 2-4k range as I've left that alone so far. I might start running stereo I think as its mainly the keys and guitar FX cluttering my head by the end of the night.
10.
Learn how to EQ and compress for inears... say goodbye to ear fatigue... oh and the volume at which you listen to your ear mix is the greatest influencer of how quickly your ears fatigue. There's not a great deal that you can do about it.
What settings do you use on your output? Not been super happy with anything I've tried so far.
11. Also, not sure about the Rev 33, but by the end of 3x one hour sets on IEM's I'd try anything that might cut ear fatigue.
12. I can't see the benefit other than weight. As the supplier of course you get to sell a spare propriety cable as any one gigging is going to want at least one just in case.
13. The P9HW does look nice, but your right about the cable and I won't the eq. The 64 Audio pack looks interesting if priced right, but that magnetic connector seems a faff + potentially expensive. I'm thinking of a Fischer Ear Stick + Rev33 as a better solution. Wireless doesn't really appeal as I'm stood on a bass board with an MD mic and a couple of iPads so can't move too far.
14. Hi all, I'm looking to upgrade my Behringer P1 IEM amp. I'm happy enough with it, but just feel its time.......GAS! Has any one compared the Behringer P1 directly with one of the Fischer IEM amps? What about the Shure p9hw, is it really worth the significant price difference? Is there anything else out there I should try?
15. Still available. Ideally need to go asap.
16.
Zaor studio furniture, they do some very useful units and they're not too pricy. Well built too.
I have a Zaor desk, it's been great so far
17.
http://www.64audio.com/magpack Looks interesting...
It does, I wonder how much?
18.
Robesh is looking for magazines http://basschat.co.u...gazines-wanted/
Thanks
19. Two boxes of Bass Magazines that include Bassist, Bass Player & Bass Guitar Magazine. All sorts. I'd like them gone asap and these will need picking up from Leicester. Seems a shame to recycle them.
20.
Currently running Sennheiser G3 IEM System into UE11 phones and it is without doubt the best sound I have ever had. Amazing. All instruments are routed to Aux post-gain but pre everything else, so as to steer clear of trigger happy soundmen with their Marianas Trench EQ curves. All monitor tweaking done on my iPhone using the QU You personal monitoring app. May well get greedy in future and add a REDDI for some B15-ey goodness in the signal path.
I use a REDDI with IEM's. Amazing, get one!
21.
Looks very cool. I could see that paired up with an Avalon U5. Surprised not to see an xlr input though
Not sure if that input is TRS balanced or not?
22. Has anyone tried the GSS BABY SUMO AMPXLITE yet? http://www.guitarsoundsystems.com/gss-baby-sumo-ampxlite-bass-guitar-power-amp-c2x21844846
23.
Markbass AC 121 Lite. Here's two posts on this from a couple of other current threads. I'd probably go so far as to say you need look no further in terms of the best combo for < £1K - I certainly haven't found one. Blows the AER series out of the water in terms of providing ample headroom.
+1 from me on the Markbass AC 121 Lite. I have two, simply perfect for function type work. I normally only use one. Have used two as a monster rig, but one is normally all you need. One handed lift. Sounds great. One of the best sounding Markbass amps. Super reliable and gig worthy.
24. I have one and love it. The new prices are significantly cheaper than when I brought mine. I can see what people mean by adding extra cabs etc. However, a significant part of my work is on IEM's with no back line. Its sort of a silent stage type affair, only vocals and some of the kit is live. Everything else is DI, modelled or triggered sounds (Toms + extra kick and snare samples). Stage volume is crazy low, which is great as theres an MD talking through the set in your IEM mix. The bass board has helped me get the feeling of moving air back in to my sound, an extra weight to the notes is present and helps me keep my IEM mix lower in my ears. Previously I was hammering my ears to get the same feel you get with an amp. The bass board has helped significantly.
