1.
Its a Series II but the neck pickup is a tad closer to the neck than normal! Does give it a Series I vibe though brother!
Sorry mate- it looks like a series 1 to me! The sunburst makes it look otherwise.

I repeat- this bass is in immaculate condition!!! It's a real players bass, and is LIGHTWIEGHT !![8 1/2 lbs] !! Comes with MM Sterling hardcase. ** Now £825 ONO for quick sale **[nearly] half price!
 3.
Allo! A fine bass! It looks to me like a fairly early model, reason being the body edge has the older style `Fender' radius as opposed to the deeper `curved' rad that most Jaydees have - I would hazard a guess that its from 1982 or '83! Knobs on JDs vary as John would chop and change to suit, plus owners tend to modify them too! The serial number will allow a date to be ascertained! Keep it funkae! Nick (Mick, you are most welcome to visit me anytime apart from Mondays!! Give me a bell though just in case! 07961 880770!)
Looks like a series 1 body shape- I'm guessing as early as '81.

 7.
Hi all i guess i have the very old Jay Dee bass you are talking about, the first one Mark King offered as give away in a contest...it's a supernatural SerNR 0004 as shown in Level 42 video : out of sight out of mind..... with the original case with binding and round dot markers, not oval ones......
Hi, has it got black string anchors?

 10.
Well.......Here she is for the new unveiling. My newly re-painted Series 1 in burnt orange. I chose orange because it accents the hardware and really brings out the woodwork in the laminates and I haven't seen another Jaydee in this color. I think it looks rather unique and different. Just didn't want a typical white, black, boring color. Couldn't really go with the cherry color as that would require too much sanding. More photos to come when I get time.
Hi, Jaydee actually have a colour very much like this- it's called 'volcano red'. I once had a Mark King series 2 in that very colour!
 11.
Another vote for Tal Wilkenfield. Not the most dire of the lot (perhaps), but so ridiculously overrated you'd think the greats like Jaco, Wooten, Hamm et al had never been around! I contend that if she was a bloke, she'd have been written off as a lacklustre wannabe! Nothing personal against her, she's just uninspired and uninspiring!
Errr... she is actually a very tallented bassist, who would probably give most bassist on this forum a run for their money. Jeff Beck also thinks she is brilliant too...
 12. Me derrr... sorry mate-but yes the brass nut does look and sound better. Hey Nicko- loving the Calibas [speak soon old m8]!
 13. Hi mate, the xlr's are not plastic - they are back anodized metal!
 14. Here's my baby. Love it to bits and plays and sounds fantastic.
 15.
So how you getting the bass stack around?
Hi here's mine- it's in exellent nick, all works fine inc back light.
 16.
Certainly did. Maple and walnut laminate neck, ebony board and mahogany body. There's a story attatched to it as well!!!
Cool! Here's a dodgy pic of me in the 80's with my first series 1! I played a lot of gigs with that bass and had it for a long time. I regret selling it, but at the time I was working at Monkey Biz in Romford, and I pretty much could have any stock bass I wanted, so I went through a lot of basses. Funny thing now is that I have a phobia of music shops and avoid them at all costs!
 17.
Is anyone welcome here? I had John build me a copy of a Warwick thumb in '93, basically because i couldn't afford the real thing, and John could build one to my specs at a third of the price. G'wan, it's a "proper" Jaydee.
I remember that bass! It had a neck-thru right?
 18. Hi guys, here's a couple of pics of my bass. I have had plenty over the years, but this bass is the best I have ever owned. It has the real old school Jaydee sound, and feel, and when John commissioned this bass for me, he and I went the extra mile to get things 'vintage'. For me, it has to be the pick-ups. I was lucky enough to get mine made with some really old magnets that he had stashed away, and then he made the pick-ups using the old jigs, and wound them like he used to when he first started making. Believe me, it makes a big difference. Saying that, I have had Jaydee's with the newer ones and they still sound great. Also, as Nick say's ['allo m8], pick-up placement, body woods and body thickness also contribute to the sound.
 19. Here's my two- I love them both!
 20. Hey Doc, that old series 1 bass in butterscotch was my old bass! John inlaid the first fret with my enitials 'PSR' and also made me the one and only brass 'saturn' tail piece. It also had a red mother of pearl Jaydee logo on the headstock. Often wondered who ended up with that bass. At the mo I am really into seies 3's- they look the part! Love the pics of that cherry red one!
