1. Nothing like watching some scrapping going on from the stage! Cheer them on!
2. If you can't do both, you're crap. Just jesting! thats the first time I've seen tab shown in the manner above. Much better than the normal lines and numbers. If learning a classical piece on a guitar, it's great to know what the key signature is, what position the left hand should be in etc. I'd go one step further and say that your staves and dots is even better when an indication for which finger is used ie 1-4 for left and pima for right. More info the better. I suppose we've all learned differently. Some in lessons and some sat at home with a tape deck, copying each note till something sounds right and the many other ways. Perhaps one has a better understanding of musical theory, if they can slice up bars visually? I don't.
3.
Someone has to, or folks would never get to hear 'em performed live.
Fair point! Apart from when I busked as a kid, I've never felt the attraction.
4. Not Zappa but Mahler. Amazing series, this. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0889734
5. I played a gig on a load of methadone after an injury. Everything was smooooooooooooooth. Good luck!!
6. Sadly the flag has been hi jacked by nasty people. You probably don't want to attract nasty people. I'd lose the flag. Crazy how symbolism has such power. Good luck!
7. Thank you all. There's a chap (or chapess?) in Hereford called the guitar clinic. I'll pop over and see what he says. It's a bootsy traben (I have the cloak and boots to match!). I shall invest in the manual.♠️
8. Thank you all for your input. I shall try a guitar tech and see if that helps. Also, if anyone has a link to an industry standard compressor that I can buy, that'd be great. Thanks again!
9. Not silly at all. I play an acoustic guitar loads and am use to varying the dynamics with my right hand a bit. Does the electric bass not have much scope for differing the accent etc with the right hand? Is it a case of, play gently or even more gentlerer? Maybe I just need to go softly softly and turn the amp up.
10. Cardigans doing sabbath bloody sabbath, maybe.
11. It's nice to know how long the notes are.
12. Thanks for the reply. The actions pretty high and my previous bass had the same issue. Maybe I'm attacking it too hard? Do you guys play free strokes or rest strokes with the right hand? I'm use to playing an acoustic guitar, perhaps that's the issue?
13. I've got a bass and an amp, so far so good. But I'm finding that when I play quickly the strings are always catching on the top fret. You get mah? Is it a matter of just controlling the right hand a little more? I'm assuming a lot of this twang will be lost in the band. Do I need to play more gently? Any thoughts much appreciated.
14. I want to be a mighty bass player and very much looking forward to picking up any tips and learnings from those here! My fingers are quick and my ears are good but have little understanding of theory and dynamics.
