  1. And apparently it's gone! LOL
  2. I never took to Yorkvliles solid state offerings. That said to each his/her own.
  3. I hope it meets all of your expectations.
  4. Were you perchance standing too close to your amplifier? Magnetic pickups can handily react to the AC fields from an amplifiers' power supply.
  5. Sadly this is so true but we can still try to educate. I feel that the pairing first came up when the marketing department of some company or other tried to show multiple cabinets in one photo shoot.
  6. Is there an update? Did you get the problem sorted?
  7. I attended an open jam on Queen St, Downtown Toronto. I was very pleasantly surprised at how well the supplied bass amp handled the Low B of my six string. It had no trouble pumping it out. When I asked what the amp was I was told it was a Fender Rumble350 combo with 2x10s. I don't think you can go wrong with a Rumble.
  8. 10s are quite capable of giving you a full, rich sound. My Acme B2 cabinets are amazing.
  9. The positive side to this is that now you know why folk say that pairing a 1x15 with a 4x10 is a terrible idea. Sorry you had to find out the hard way!
  10. What? A grub screw???
  11. In 1968 I bought a Blonde Blackface Fender Bassman brand new from Dawson's music shop in Runcorn Cheshire. I set it up on stage, leaned it back on its legs and switched it on. What came out was the biggest disappointment of my playing career. The gig was pure torture. I took it back as soon as I could. They had sold my trade-in but I left the Bassman anyway. I still have nightmares about that amp! Giggable? I really hope that you find that it works for you. For myself and a lot of other players it was not! The Ampeg B15 series of amps were so much better.
  12. I agree completely. My 'sound' was a clean clear bass tone. I didn't want to sound like I was playing through a fuzz box. The search led me down the path of designing my own amplification. The largest tube amp I ever built was 150W using six 6L6GC tubes. I had originally designed it before I left the UK for six EL34s. Being in North America I went with the US tubes. It worked very well but still gave me some distortion at loud volumes. I went Solid State and designed a 200W per channel @ 4Ω Stereo power amp and a pre-amp to drive it. That kept me happy for a few years. LOL
  13. Break a string! Bass equivalent of break a leg for dancers. LOL
  14. The Echo send and return are in essence the same as an effects send and return.
  15. A vertical array of 10" drivers is typically better than the standard 4x10 enclosure. I use a pair of 2x10s stacked for a vertical array of the drivers.
  16. You'll need a few EQ slider pots too. As the English Trace Elliot is a long time defunct you'll have difficulty find spare parts. I hope our brothers and sisters in the UK may be able to help you. Good luck. Edit: Doing a quick search on Trace Elliot spare parts produced several companies in the UK that seem to offer them.
  17. I got mine in Frank Hessy's store in Liverpool in 1968. I walked in and saw my stolen Gibson EB0F hanging on a wall. I was so gobsmacked seeing it that I barely noticed one of my best friends trying out a Precision. A few months later on I bought the bass from him for 50 quid. (I'm not sure how to get the pound symbol on my Mac) A few months later on June 06 I was playing a gig with it when I met the girl who became my wife. She still is! LOL And I still own the Precision too!
  18. But did they give you their seal of approval?
  19. Nancy, your Precision is looking a little worse for wear! Similar to my '63 Precision.
  20. I left tube output stages behind many years ago. My current amplifier is a 2KW capable Class D power amp driven by a tube pre-amp I designed. Tubes were current technology when I was at baby engineer school! LOL
  21. T add to Bill's comment stack the cabinets with the drivers vertically aligned not side by side. They just work better that way!
  22. Probably something like a self resetting Polyswitch which are now used in my Acme cabinets replacing the lamp.
  23. 15W doesn't go too far when using a bass in this day and age. That said if it functions well for what you are using it for then enjoy!!
  24. I don't trust the advertised power ratings of TCE products so I'd go with the Ampeg. Besides I get a kick out of playing through my Ampeg B15NF.
