  1. @Downunderwonder Get well soon brother!
  2. I agree that a good sounding amp can help you with your practice sessions and even inspire you to greater heights. If funds are available then get the best amp you can afford. Separates are better than a Combo 'cos you can upgrade each part as the desire hits you. And it will! LOL Good luck with your playing - I hope it brings you great satisfaction.
  3. As your years of playing live music passes, less and less will hiss be a factor or even heard!
  4. Using a Helix why not consider feeding a power amp with it, if the signal levels are conducive. Then a Barefaced cabinet to provide the volume you need.
  5. @markbunney So speak up. How did the gig go?
  6. Coming back to this thread to ask how the Boars Head gig went? 😁
  7. That looks like an off shore product with a Hiwatt label stuck on to it. It screams fake to me. Edit: Doing a quick search, Talkbass has many questions from members on these and other Maxwatt units. Another article that surfaced had an amp being switched on and the hum level was deafening. I still wouldn't touch one with a barge pole.
  8. OH NO!! Not Coronation Street!!! Sometimes when I'm busy I'll find myself whistling that theme and my Wife will ask why I'm whistling the theme from Coronation Street! I hated the show. :😩
  9. The Pandemic has caused a huge rift in the electronic parts supply chain. This is affecting products being made and released across the world from cars and trucks to yes, bass amplifiers
  10. Be careful not to put the screwdriver through the cone. It's easy to do - unfortunately!
  11. @Marty Forrer The down side of this is that any warranty that you had on your purchase is now voided.
  12. The standby switch could switch out the output tube cathodes or even their screen supplies. Switch on the centre tap of the OPT is yet another.
  13. Enjoy!
  14. Some amps have a delayed turn on of the speaker jacks to reduce turn on thumps from getting to the speakers.
  15. Don't cut anything vital off!!
  16. Identical cabinets always work better when paired. What is the minimum impedance of your amp?
  17. I have o admit that the demo left me cold. I'm not interested in amps that sound like I'm playing through a fuzz box.
  18. Glad to have been of help!
  19. I took my Korg tuner out as I usually use a Snark clip on. In its place I fitted 1U ventilated vent to allow more air to circulate within the rack case. That's never a bad thing.
  20. If you plug into the front end of the amp the pre-amp will be active. Plug into the external pre-amp and feed the unit's output into the Return.
  21. Ventilation!!
  22. Cranking the Bass full on is going to demand more of the speaker than it may be able to handle.
